Also suffering here 🙋‍♀️
30 weeks tomorrow, fills me with dread that I could have potentially another 12 weeks of pregnancy.
Been on omeprazole since before pregnancy but yesterday was the worst and I ended up guzzling milk and taking antacids which still didn't help. Up every hour and a half/two hours for a wee during the night and feeling so bulky that I'm struggling to get out of bed.

On the nail talk.. I normally have acrylic extensions but I'll be having them off for practicality around 36 weeks. My nail tech has previously done a clients nail while she was in early labour! I've never heard of not being allowed to have nails done for birth.

Blocklynn · 15/01/2023 10:23

Feeling really lucky here with all your poor symptoms. I had a few days of bad heartburn over Christmas from eating too much crap food but apart from that the odd gaviscon tablet and I’m fine. Still really active with walking my dogs and a little run when I fancy it.

I’m planning on breastfeeding. Haven’t bought anything feeding/pumping wise. My midwife specifically said not to take formula to hospital.

iratepirate · 15/01/2023 10:31

Also feeling very lucky. Still walking and running daily, which I’ve never been able to do at this stage in past pregnancies.

Happy to take daily nausea tbh, it seems a small price to pay for not really feeling at all pregnant yet.

havanamama · 15/01/2023 10:33

@Blocklynn @iratepirate jealous!
Are your bumps small? Even if I didn't suffer from pelvic girdle pain, I am not sure I could run as my bump is huge, like a very average 8 month bump though.

Blocklynn · 15/01/2023 10:43

@havanamama I’m 30+2 so a little behind date wise from a lot of ladies on here which might make a difference size wise? This is the very flattering picture my dad took of me last weekend after parkrun 😂

@Cuppasoupmonster out of curiosity, have you asked your midwife if you can have gel on in labour?

I always get my nails done so not having it would only be if it's actually true that you're not allowed.
I'll ask my midwife next time

gel nails like shellac etc are ok - I used to work in labour ward theatres so know the drill 😂as long as you don’t have extensions or bio gel or a thick covering over the nail it’s ok.

only reason they say nothing on nails is as it’s best practice as false nails and acrylics it’s hard to measure 02 levels with the sats probe and it doesn’t work. So they just have a blanket policy as people would be confused if they listed a list of nail coverings that were ok and ones that weren’t.

Im getting gel on both my nails and toe nails and getting a Brazilian done 😂 before my c section. However if you are concerned I’d get it on just your hands then you can just paint your toe nails. As they can always put sats probs on your big toe if they can’t get a reading from the gel on the nails. X

Cuppasoupmonster · 15/01/2023 11:01

Great pic! I’m 28+2 and the same size as you I would say Blocklynn.

havanamama · 15/01/2023 11:05

@Blondewave thank you ☺️

havanamama · 15/01/2023 11:24

Booked in gel manicures and a haircut so I'm feeling nice and fresh.

I'm planning to continue getting my shellac nails done 2x month when baby is here as some me time - it's only about 45min, but will hopefully help me not have separation anxiety and have some me time.

JB2021 · 15/01/2023 11:50

@Blocklynn @iratepirate pleased to see others are still running and doing parkrun sometimes that's the only time I feel pregnant! As I'm much slower. Other than a couple of rough days over new year where I felt big and sick I've been fine! (tough wood!)

@Blondewave i get gel nails with builder gel then glitter bells polish, will these be OK? Planning on asking midwife this week too

Blocklynn · 15/01/2023 14:10

@JB2021 I do get some comments from people that know me about are you still running?! But I just carry (slowly!) on.
Glad you’re still running too 😊

JB2021 · 15/01/2023 16:32

@Blocklynn ive also had comments too. One from a midwife we know of (not my midwife) who questioned me running a 10k race end of October. Me and husband had worked out I could walk and finish in cut off time. She then messaged me and said she has seen and knows things. Majority have been so supportive too

Are you wearing a support band? Any recommendations for brands of shorts etc?

Babynum2 · 15/01/2023 17:40

My mum is doing me a little babyshower this weekend coming so I'm going to have my hair done, nails, toes and a facial I try to do things for myself regular but this whole pregnancy I just felt to unwell. I can't wait to feel a bit more beautiful ha!

TeddyBeans · 15/01/2023 20:18

@Blocklynn lovely bump! 🥰

@Babynum2 enjoy your baby shower!

Sounds like there's lots of pampering happening in the next few weeks which I love! We bloody deserve it after the 6-8 months we've all had so far 😁 our bodies are busy creating little miracles, they deserve a bit of TLC too

Seriously struggling with choosing vbac or elective section 🤦‍♀️. I'll be seeing my consultant on Friday and I know she will want to know my decision I'll be 34 weeks. I really don't want to scare anyone if your nervous about birth probs best to skip this next part I'm just really looking opinions/advice/positives!

I was induced last time at 36+5 due to intrahapetic Cholastasis & severe hypertension which was then diagnosed as Pre eclampsia. My induction was HORRENDOUS I was just too early and my son was not ready. I was given the pessary 1st which did nothing then 24 hours later moved to labour ward & put on the drip. It took 3 attempts to break my waters every few hours they tried (agony because he was so far up) I was on the drip and son was back to back so constantly getting contractions. I was induced on the Wednesday and by Friday night I had only gotten to 4.5/5cm! I was completely out of it but my husband says he is traumatised as I was screaming in pain because the contractions kept coming and wernt giving me a break, epidural did not work. they did a test on my son (took blood from my sons head while he was still inside me) and I was sent for an emergency section Saturday morning.

Am I mad for wanting vbac? I think I know this will be my last baby I feel like I want to experience contractions again & i want to experience pushing! I know I'm weird my husband thinks I'm crazy! BUT my blood pressure is fine this time round slightly itchy got liver bloods done and so far they're fine so it seems different this time 🤷‍♀️

TeddyBeans · 15/01/2023 21:06

@Eastybaby19 I don't think you're mad to want a vbac...but in your shoes I'd take the elective. You might still get to experience contractions (probably not the pushing part) if you go into labour before your elective date but then you'd just get bumped up the list as a low risk emergency section

OP posts:
TeddyBeans · 15/01/2023 21:08

@Eastybaby19 also did they not give you anything extra for the pain? When I had the drip for DS I ended up with two doses of fentanyl because it was so bloody painful. The epidural barely touched the sides. Might be worth having a chat about what other pain killers they can offer you on top of the epidural before you make a decision

OP posts:
Eastybaby19 · 15/01/2023 21:12

@TeddyBeans
They had given me Diamorphine and paracetamol & gas and air I was off my face I have no memories of the last part before the section.

It feels like I'm missing out for some reason I'm not afraid of section I was up and about pushing my new pram a week later recovery was great for me, I'm just so undecided I know I sound mad wanting to feel contractions again 🙈

Franklin321 · 15/01/2023 21:13

@Eastybaby19 definitely not mad but I had a similar induction experience with my son (although not as long and my epidural did work) but ended in an emcs anyway after labouring to 9cm 🙄 I vowed never to accept another induction after that and knew I would only ever pick elective if we would have another one!

i have friends who have had vbac and all been ok but it’s not for me…I hated labour and wouldn’t happily never contract again 🤣 Also natural labour most likely won’t be as intense pain as induction so if you’re likely to go naturally you may not have the same experience!

TeddyBeans · 15/01/2023 21:22

Agree with @Franklin321! Natural labour is a completely different kettle of fish. My friend's sister must have made it to transition at least before she needed to go to hospital. I was in agony and taking every drug available from about 3cm (including diamorphine) because your body isn't given the chance to do any natural build up. It's literally level 100 from start to finish with induction

OP posts:
Eastybaby19 · 15/01/2023 21:33

@Franklin321 @TeddyBeans thank you both for your comments!
I wonder if they will let me book a section for closer to my due date but if I go into natural labour can I ask them to leave me alone and let me get on with it 😂.
I'm classed as high risk this time also I see the consultant every 2 weeks to check baby's heart due to my autoimmune disease (Sjögren's syndrome which can cause fetal heart block) and then the midwives every Wednesday for the Doppler to listen to baby's heart. I've also been sent a letter to see fetal cardiologist on 1st of feb but from what I know everything is fine so not really sure why I'm seeing him.
Obviously if there was any risk to the baby I'd go section no problem I'd never put him at risk 🙌

Blocklynn · 15/01/2023 21:42

@JB2021 I haven’t been wearing a support band as not felt I have needed one so far.
I normally wear Tikiboo bottoms for exercising but mine are too tight now. I have got a pair of leggings from Asda (the ones in the picture I posted) which are good. I’m just washing and wearing the same pair as didn’t want to spend loads on stuff I’d only wear for a short time.

JB2021 · 15/01/2023 21:45

@Blocklynn natal active are fab! Pricy but worth it. Which is your parkrun?

Blocklynn · 15/01/2023 21:50

@JB2021 we try and do different ones but my closest is Conkers. What about you?

JB2021 · 15/01/2023 21:51

@Blocklynn youre local then! My closest is Dishley! Not done conkers yet. I had to walk most of ours this week due to the mud and waterlogged field. Baby has done 23 parkruns! Is your partner a runner too?
