@Cats23 Thanks will keep that in mind and try to activrly get involved.

@Rainbowbaby23 not sciatica but PGP is BAAAD today. Seems to hsve gotten significantly worse post 29 weeks and notice it nore when I havent slept enough/properly

SenecaFalls1848 · 12/01/2023 10:23

@Raspberry28 Hi, fellow 29th March-er here!

I know trusts can vary but I've been booked in for a double appointment on 3rd March to go over birth plan (so week 36). Which feels a little late in the day but there we go.

I definitely don't have my hospital bag together yet either! It's worth remembering we are at the end of the due dates in this group. I had a few panics early on with how organised others were- but turns out they are a whole month ahead of us :)

iratepirate · 12/01/2023 08:39

Bit worried that I have a flashing sensation in my eye this morning.
Also have a bit of a headache but I’ve had a cold for the past week or so, so that’s been fairly normal for me.
I’ve got an apt this afternoon for a scan anyway, so will mention it then. My blood pressure is always on the higher end of the “ok” figures, so they keep reiterating about eyes and stuff. Anyone else had similar? I’ve not had anything like this before, but it feels like a sort of jazzy line of flashing in front of my right eye, making it hard to concentrate on my screen at work.

Definitely mention it at your appointment, they can send your urine sample off for a PCR to check for preeclampsia. In the meantime if I gets a wriggly patch in my vision, paracetamol can clear it in a few minutes so might be worth trying

iratepirate · 12/01/2023 11:59

@TeddyBeans thank you. It cleared nearly straight away with some paracetamol and I’ve just taken BP again which is much lower now but I’m still going to mention it and will take a sample with me for testing, too.

allthingssparkly · 12/01/2023 12:09

The anxiety I have about these growth scans is unreal, my next one is on Monday morning when I'll be 33 weeks. I had my first one at 28 weeks and baby was plotting on the 90th centile with an estimated fetal weight of 3lbs2oz 😖 my consultant said she'd would like baby to stay on the 90th centile and not drop or go above this, so I'm very intrigued to see what the findings are on Monday.

I really don't want to be induced this time either, I was with both my other children but was really hoping for more of a spontaneous labour this time round 😞 we shall see what happens.

Cuppasoupmonster · 12/01/2023 12:22

@TeddyBeans fingers crossed. When is your next scan? These ‘living from scan to scan’ pregnancies are so worrying! Still I’m 28 weeks tomorrow which was a milestone in my head so I’m pleased to get there. I always feel a bit wobbly at around 24 because it’s the point of viability but if anything happens bubs would be very poorly. Maybe next time we will get the nice relaxing experience eh?!

@allthingssparkly im also having growth scans because I’m type 1 diabetes, I totally understand how you feel. DD always measured average or slightly below and was born on 55th centile. But baby boy has gone from 35th at 12 week scan to 70th at 20 weeks. I’m almost scared to know what he will be at the next scan! I’m telling myself as he will be here by 38 weeks he can only grow so big, right? 🤯 It’s unnerving when you’re hoping for as normal an experience as possible but there’s lots of ‘will i/wont I’ concerns which can’t be addressed until much later on. Sending hugs!

havanamama · 12/01/2023 12:50

I'm high risk and have a total of 3 growth scans, 2nd one next week. However, I'm super excited for them!

It's a chance to see baby, check everything is good with placenta, fluid levels, and baby's position and growth. ☺️

My baby was measuring on 80th centile at the 1st growth scan, and the sonographer and my midwife both were happy with that.

I think it's all in the mindset.

Cuppasoupmonster · 12/01/2023 12:59

@havanamama i suppose it’s just because I seem to hear news that I don’t want to hear! I was chilled about DD’s scans as they were always fine, but this time round has been one thing after another - makes me scared to know tbh!

Hrf1503 · 12/01/2023 13:24

@Rainbowbaby23 yes, suffered with it so badly around 26 weeks I couldn’t walk at all. I had a couple of sessions of acupuncture and it’s worked an absolute miracle, so highly recommend if you can. Just make sure you get someone who specialises in pregnancy. Otherwise youtube exercises for sciatica… there is one where you sit on a chair, cross the ankle of the sore side over the knee of the other side and push knee down that gave me some small relief.

TeddyBeans · 12/01/2023 15:06

@allthingssparkly good luck for Monday!

@Cuppasoupmonster next scan is Thursday next week. I know what you mean, the time between scans seems to drag by. 28 weeks is a good milestone! Next you'll be 30 and then 37 before you know it! We're firmly in the stopping at two crew so this is my last pregnancy all being well 🤞

Thank you @TeddyBeans 🤞 x

allthingssparkly · 12/01/2023 15:26

Has anyone got a baby monitor yet? If you've got a video one, which one do you have? 😊

iratepirate · 12/01/2023 15:34

@allthingssparkly we have a Cubo AI and it’s been pretty good, going to move it into the other room for the baby although I believe that you can add more than one.

Thanks! Scan all fine but in a diff dept from triage, so I’ve had a wander down there to ask them if I need to worry. Sat in a queue at the moment and they just keep saying how they’ve very busy. But I’m taking that as a good sign that they’re not too concerned.

Blocklynn · 12/01/2023 16:47

Had a midwife checkup today and it was a different one to usual, she said I should be having a carbon monoxide test at each appointment, today was the first one I’d had!

She measured to a different place for the fundal height, went from 70 to 95 centile.

Having a scan in 2 weeks to check my placenta but I’ve been told they will do growth too so be interesting to see what that says.

Perexi · 12/01/2023 17:02

Morrisons baby event is live now with pampers nappies half price as well as some other good deals if people were looking for a few bits. I haven't been in but saw the email

TeddyBeans · 12/01/2023 17:03

@Blocklynn I did one at booking and then nothing until I went to the hospital last Monday for my growth scan. Not something I did regularly through my last pregnancy either. It's very difficult to get consistent fundal height measurements with different midwives. Nice that you get an extra scan though!

I forgot about the carbon monoxide test! I had it at my booking appointment but not since then!

havanamama · 12/01/2023 17:09

I haven't had a carbon monoxide test. Is that if you're a smoker or live with a smoker?

alotoftutus · 12/01/2023 17:13

@havanamama I had it at my booking appointment and am not a smoker and do not live with one. It was the first time I've had to do it in any pregnancy

I think so, to catch out the lying smokers 😉

iratepirate · 12/01/2023 17:31

They’ve been doing it every apt for us (no smokers here, apparently it’s to check that you’re not exposed at home). But one of the midwife units doesn’t have a machine for it so it’s not checked very often.

Cdoc · 12/01/2023 17:54

Good to know thank you! Aldi baby event also starts Instore today and have heard good things about their nappies so will be going tonight to stock up
