Here’s a new thread for the upcoming new year.

I think we’ve got all due dates covered now but newbies are still of course most welcome. We’re a friendly, chatty bunch so do feel free to join in.

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Sjw30 · 09/01/2023 21:48

A patient has asked me if I’m expecting today! I need a bigger uniform already!

ChloeN · 09/01/2023 21:50

@Sjw30 omg🤣 no hiding it for you then!

LMM91x · 09/01/2023 21:53

@ChloeN yay team not finding out 👏🏻 my family have just never found out in general it wasn’t until my friends got pregnant and stArted finding out I really knew it was such a common thing (god i sound like I live under a rock🤣)

Sjw30 · 09/01/2023 22:03

@ChloeN I felt a bit awkward and embarrassed for some reason tbh 🤣

sally16 · 09/01/2023 22:06

@Sjw30 I would have said 'oh wow... the Xmas weight really did me wrong didn't it' 🤣🤣🤣

My work trousers are struggling.. and we wear the cargo style 🫠😂

Sjw30 · 09/01/2023 22:08

Haha yes that will be my next go to response 🤣 @sally16

ChloeN · 09/01/2023 22:15

@LMM91x I think it’ll be such a temptation when it comes to it🤣🤣 or our luck the baby will pop on the screen showing it’s bits 😅

LMM91x · 09/01/2023 22:16

@ChloeN omg I know - i’ve been strongly no i wouldn’t find out but i am defo tempted…. Especially when this group starts finding out it will be so hard🤣🤣 going to try and hold out for sure. !

Amme18 · 09/01/2023 22:36

@LMM91x same, I could have swayed a week ago but I’m dead set on not finding out now! One of life’s true surprises and I’d like to experience it. Plus no preference on gender and I’ll buy a pack of neutral sleep suits, maybe one girlie one just incase and then have DS stuff if it’s a boy!

My placenta was low lying last time and had to have scans to check it had moved, didn’t move until week 36! But it did eventually.

PumpkinEverything · 10/01/2023 00:05

@ChloeN i had an anterior placenta last time and it’s nothing to be worried about 😊 I felt kicks at around 18 weeks or so I think. Def didn’t save me from the worst of the kicks 😂 it literally felt like she was trying to escape towards the end and I’d be grabbing at the sofa in the evening (it was always around 7-9pm when I was trying to watch tv). My husband was always near ready to go to the hospital 😂

sprollie11 · 10/01/2023 04:27

I'm 10.5-11 weeks ish and I think I may have felt a fluttering sensation, just for a second or two, low down in my abdomen on the LHS whilst lay on the sofa yesterday eve. Could just be wind but felt like a distinct sensation that I've not experienced before. Seems a bit early to feel anything but was wondering if anyone had felt something similar?

sally16 · 10/01/2023 08:20

@sprollie11 the last 2 nights I've felt odd fluttery sensations too but only 9 weeks!
I think mines is just gas but I'm more aware of waiting on flutters 😅
My friends felt flutters from 12 weeks last pregnancy so you never know 🥰

Createcomet · 10/01/2023 08:22

I cannot believe how much I'm struggling to keep on top of keeping the house tidy whilst being pregnant. My 2 year old is like a whirlwind! I'm just cleaning and tidying the same things over and over again and it's still no better 😭

Also, he's asking to go to our local baby and toddler group this morning. I'm really really not in the mood to be sociable 😭🤣

It's going to be a long day!

AnnieApple123 · 10/01/2023 08:26

@ChloeN I’m thinking today that finding out NIPT results and the sex at the same time is a all a bit much. I’m going to find out whether they’d be able to hold the info for later.

@Sjw30 I’m at this point too now I think. I’m going to have to start wearing really baggy clothes for a bit to hide it. When I went for my 12 week scan last time it seemed hard even for me to believe there was a baby there. This definitely isn’t the case this time.

I had my latest set of thyroid bloods done yesterday and have an obstetrician appointment this afternoon to review them. My scan isn’t for another week but I’m going to ask her to feel and check she thinks there’s just one there.

Amme18 · 10/01/2023 08:28

Yeah I keep thinking I’m getting a flutter then it turns out to be gas 😳 I’m hoping it’s earlier second time round though, last time I was 18 weeks.

@Createcomet I feel you. Since Xmas I can’t keep on top of it. I’m far too tired and my little boy is also a whirlwind, maybe more of a hurricane 😅

AnnieApple123 · 10/01/2023 08:33

@Createcomet I’ve got exactly the same problem here with mess and a whirlwind toddler. I just don’t have the energy to keep on top of it like I usually do.

I’m largely hibernating this week as have dreadful roots now. Very vain of me, I know. I’ll be 12 weeks next Monday so will get them done then. I’m planning to take DS to the library this morning though as it’s usually very quiet there and I figure it wouldn’t be too odd to keep a hat on whilst we’re browsing!

OP posts:
Createcomet · 10/01/2023 08:49

@Amme18 @AnnieApple123 it's such hard work tidying up after them isn't it? I just feel like we've got waaaay too much stuff in this house and since Xmas it's even worse. Sent 2 massive bags of stuff to charity last week but still got stuff everywhere 🙈 I'm finding that by the time I've done all the basic things I need to do to survive (work, cook, clean, look after child) I have no motivation to do anything else!

LMM91x · 10/01/2023 08:54

I don’t even have another child and I can’t keep on top of my house either 🤣

AnnieApple123 · 10/01/2023 09:10

@Createcomet Yes, you’ve summed it up exactly!

OP posts:
LS888 · 10/01/2023 09:23

We are not going to find out the gender either. Although it is tempting. We went shopping at the weekend and had a quick browse in TK max. The baby clothes were all very gender specific there- didn’t end up buying anything but it’s the first time we have looked. Hubby said we could just find out! But I do still want a surprise. My mum said she will knit a blanket for the cot - she has always done two for my sisters one for each gender (they didn’t find out either!) so she said she would start with one for a girl so she has more time to finish it! Said she thinks we are having a girl. I don’t have a gut feeling on this one!

sally16 · 10/01/2023 09:24

@Createcomet my house is a bomb site. Shit everywhere, everytime DP tidied up for me the chaotic 3 y/o destroys it with the dogs!
One of the labs keeps breaking into the dining room and sleeping on top of the table staring out the window at people 🫠🤦🏼‍♀️

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 10/01/2023 09:24

I feel like I NEED to join in on the rant 😂with not being able to stay on top of things. No toddler here (10 year old step son though) but 3 dogs, I have an 8000 word essay due in for my masters tomorrow, exams Thursday and Friday, and we are moving house 1 week Friday so boxes everywhere! 🤯🫠

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 10/01/2023 09:26

Oh and no annual leave left other than the house move... so still working full time this week 😩 what is life at the minute haha

AnnieApple123 · 10/01/2023 09:30

Ouch that all sounds really tough @MinnieFirstTimeMum .

@LS888 we did find out the sex last time but still went with mainly gender neutral itens. It was very do-able.

OP posts:
MinnieFirstTimeMum · 10/01/2023 09:31

@AnnieApple123 out of curiosity is finding out the gender with the NIPT testing just as accurate as waiting for the 20 week scan (I think that is when it is)?
