Here’s a new thread for the upcoming new year.

I think we’ve got all due dates covered now but newbies are still of course most welcome. We’re a friendly, chatty bunch so do feel free to join in.

Ordered a BK. So frustrating though cause I can’t eat it all 🙄 feel like I’m constantly wasting food - luckily other half hoovers it up but he put on weight last pregnancy and I lost it. Managed to eat all the chilli cheese bites though 🤤

ChloeN · 09/01/2023 18:39

@Amme18 I either don’t eat it or sick it up straight after, but only really with takeaways or meals out so even worse 🤣

Amme18 · 09/01/2023 18:45

@ChloeN same but probs cause is I’m eating at home it’s toast, crisp sandwich, junk food etc 🤣

ChloeN · 09/01/2023 19:02

@Amme18 same lol no proper meals for me🤣

Have any of you ladies with early scans been told your placenta position? No idea if it will move as does seem really early to know! She told me mines anterior, has anyone had this before in previous pregnancies?

sally16 · 09/01/2023 19:09

@ChloeN I don't think they can tell much before the 12 weeks? Never even been mentioned before to me as mines was pos so no reason to say I suppose? Xx

ChloeN · 09/01/2023 19:20

@sally16 I was really shocked she said tbh but she’s been a sonographer since 1994 so I guess she knows what she’s on about 🤣 I think it’s quite common just won’t feel kicks till later ☹️

sally16 · 09/01/2023 19:26

@ChloeN not necessarily though! I think they just warn you so you aren't concerned! I was pos last time and didn't feel anything at all till after 24 weeks! Not even a flutter! Xx

nadsc · 09/01/2023 19:27

@CityKity im convinced somethings happening bump wise because my stomach feels slightly more rounded and harder than usual. It could be wishful thinking cos I loved having a bump with my daughter 😂

ChloeN · 09/01/2023 19:29

@sally16 oh really that makes me feel so much better, I see people have flutters soo early so I was thinking I’d be weeks and weeks behind everyone else! Xx

sally16 · 09/01/2023 19:33

Think it depends on your body too though, like I couldn't differentiate wind bubbles and baby 🤣🤣🤣

AnnieApple123 · 09/01/2023 19:34

@ChloeN Yes I had an anterior placenta last time. It has the advantage of shielding you from the worst kicks. I never felt they were horribly strong like some people seem to.

@BCxx Sounds like you did well not to scream tbh. I probably would have done.

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 09/01/2023 20:17

@LS888 congratulations on the new job 👏🏻👏🏻

BCxx · 09/01/2023 20:19

@sally16 I totally feel your pain 😩

@ChloeN I asked about mine as I had a low placenta last time but she just said it was too early to tell and it kicked in properly around 14 weeks I think she said 🤔

@AnnieApple123 haha just one of those days 🙈 He’s in bed, the house is back in order and I can attempt to finish work now tonight (even though I’d rather curl up in a ball and sleep)

sally16 · 09/01/2023 20:43

@BCxx managed to talk my sister into coming with to help me pin him down in the seat 🫠😂

This is just a wee warning to you new mums.. hair cuts are the worst start them younger than I did 😂

sally16 · 09/01/2023 20:44

@BCxx managed to talk my sister into coming to help 🤣🥳

ChloeN · 09/01/2023 20:46

@BCxx oh lol I guess she was just saying it’s anterior for now maybe? I did read they can move so maybe they can’t be sure yet? I’ll see what they say at 12 weeks

ChloeN · 09/01/2023 21:05

sally16 · 09/01/2023 21:21

@ChloeN im sure they can move! I've seen people posting about it being over there cervix or close and having scans to see if it's shifted out the way 😂

AnnieApple123 · 09/01/2023 21:22

@ChloeN Anterior placenta really isn’t any cause for concern. Please don’t worry.

I was told at 12 weeks last time that I had a low-lying placenta which could cause problems later on if it didn’t move up. I then discovered that’s very common at that stage and the vast majority do move up. I was annoyed they’d even mentioned it and caused me unnecessary worry.

Those doing NIPT, will you find out the gender this early? I’m not sure I’m ready.

OP posts:
MinnieFirstTimeMum · 09/01/2023 21:37

@AnnieApple123 I am going to do NIPT but I didn't realise that the gender can be found out that early.

ChloeN · 09/01/2023 21:41

@sally16 @AnnieApple123 thanks ladies I’m at bit of a worrier so it’s nice to be reassured that it’s all okay!xx

@AnnieApple123 im not having NIPT nor am I finding out the gender at all but I think if you don’t feel ready I’d definitely wait. I think it would seem all a bit overwhelming getting the results and the gender all the same time?

UsernameNotPresent · 09/01/2023 21:46

@AnnieApple123 yes, I will be finding out the gender. I am desperate to know so I can mentally prepare myself, and more importantly start thinking of the names.

@CityKity re bump, most of it is probably wind at this point 😬 At 12 weeks uterus is just at the level of the public bone, and at 20 weeks at the level of bellybutton. Anything before 12 weeks is just slightly displaced giblets with gas in them. Sexy, I know.

@BCxx and @sally16 I am right there with you wrangling toddlers. My DS needs to start dropping his afternoon nap (Nooooo!) as bedtimes are becoming a battle. Just usual things like wrestling him into his PJs, and getting him dressed in the morning really take it out of me more than it really ought to.

I started cutting his hair when he was about 8 weeks old, and he has been getting regular haircuts with a clipper since (DH has mastered a technique now!). Now at just over 2, he quite enjoys getting his 2 monthly trims at the 'kitchen barber shop' 😂

*pubic bone... Not public bone..
