Here’s a new thread for the upcoming new year.

I think we’ve got all due dates covered now but newbies are still of course most welcome. We’re a friendly, chatty bunch so do feel free to join in.

Hello all,

Now most are back at work, how are you coping with the fatigue? I’m struggling by 2pm and by 7pm i’m pretty much in bed. Anyone know how long this goes on for as it’s really crap for me and the OH as we pretty much eat dinner together and that’s all we see of each other cause I’m always asleep!

I also had my booking appointment yesterday, NHS put me at 9+2 but because of longer cycles my dates are slightly out. At the weekend I got a sharp pain down my right hand side that went after about 5 minutes and some other sharp pain when I was getting out of the car (not like the usual cramps). I mentioned it to my midwife and she didn’t say much other than to keep an eye on it. I haven’t had anything since but wondered if anyone had experienced anything similar?

@Cat1424 I've had to go on nights because I physically can't wake up enough day time! I didn't feel safe doing my job :(
My work were supportive but said I would need to go back to my usual mix at some point as everyone wants nights so need to keep it fair :(

I keep having naps at 3pm.. it's wonderful but Mondays and Tuesdays I have no childcare so it's a long day 😅

I wish I had an answer in terms of fatigue. I work 2 days a week, then I have my 2 year old 3 days a week, and then I also do odd bits of work from home for my job (me and my husband run the company) and I have a job self employed as a jewellery maker too. I've had to stop the jewellery because I usually do it in nap times and evenings and I physically can't do it.

I also struggle from 2pm and then am in bed by 7 and I hate it so much. I feel soooooo tired today that my husband got home from work at 6pm and I just sat crying because I was just too tired to cope. I'm finding work easier than dealing with 2 year old I have to say, finding his swimming lessons etc very draining. I know its not forever, but I'm usually very very motivated, very active and very productive. And at the moment I'm just not doing anything in DS nap times, going to bed in the evenings and trying to get away with doing as little as possible in the day. I'd love to have an answer for you, but unfortunately it's just ridiculously hard. It does get easier further into the second trimester but that feels like a lifetime away 🤦‍♀️

Rose05 · 10/01/2023 20:21

I am also struggling with a toddler (3!) I work 3 days a week as a teacher and I’m so worried about how I will cope. Today I had a nap whilst she watched the iPad in my bed 🙈 I couldn’t keep awake after her swimming lesson!

sally16 · 10/01/2023 20:24

@Rose05 I also nap with my toddler watching the iPad 🤣
DP has just told me I need to stop doing extra shifts.. because I'm shattered... that's all fine and well but my extra shifts gonna pay the £300 gas bill that's just come in 😭🥴

Why we having children during a financial crisis 🤣😂

It's really tough isn't it? I found his swimming lesson so draining last week that I'm really not excited about this weeks! My husband keeps telling me to go to sleep but I resent losing my entire evening and then getting up for work again not even feeling any more refreshed!
I tried to have a lie down this afternoon whilst my toddler was playing. He just climbed me for 10 mins and I gave in. I have to accept there's no chance of a rest with him around 🤦‍♀️

Rose05 · 10/01/2023 20:50

So tough! She also wasn’t feeling swimming today so that didn’t help! She officially turns 3 in a couple of weeks and then she’s moves up to independent lessons! At least I don’t have to get in 😂 I feel you with the climbing over you! The amount of times I have to say “be careful of mummy’s tummy!” I’d love to tell her but know she would tell everyone!

Well done with the extra shifts! Everything is such a hard balance.. Can your DH pick up extra shifts?

ChloeN · 10/01/2023 20:59

@sally16 ive cut my hours back already I just feel like shit otherwise 🤣

BCxx · 10/01/2023 21:08

@Cat1424 I keep getting these sharp cramp twingey feelings when I stand up from the sofa. It’s happening about two or three times a day and sometimes I have to stop and bend forwards until it passes. I do think I had it last time though. It’s as if it’s right in at the sides almost low down but in line with where your ovaries would be. It’s so bizarre and fine if I’m on my own and can wince but hard to hide if people are there

@Createcomet so ‘glad’ it’s not just me. We had a huge argument when he came in from work tonight and I started crying about how I’m trying to do sooo many things at once. I have so much work for my business that I haven’t got done today because our toddler has been just constant. He’s screamed about a thousand times, really couldn’t have done much more to be a hindrance if you actually paid him to 😂 Like banging a toy off the tv, told no, kills himself laughing, no again, takes him away from it, goes back up again, distraction works for a bit then he sees it again and fancies another shot. Climbing up the sofa trying to get onto the window sill. Living room looks like an actual bomb has gone off even though I’ve only just tidied (again). Taking my husband’s tools out of drawers. At one point he’d been in a kitchen cupboard and was running across the living room floor with a good wine glass about to launch it! It’s like no matter how many times I’ve said no or distracted him with something else, it’s just got worse and worse. Husband came in and announced he was going a food shop (he was away over an hour) 🙈 I was just so desperate for him to take over and let me get work finished so I can go to bed at a normal time tonight but he instantly assumed he’d be going to the shop alone when I never would 😭 Tomorrow is a new day and all that!! 🤣

I feel exhausted too, I get through my day at work ok, but the whole evening is spent sat on the sofa/dozing/staring into space lol. Can't wait for this to pass, life feels hard going at the moment! I'm getting behind on other commitments, but don't feel like I can do anything about it at the moment!

sally16 · 10/01/2023 21:33

@BCxx I think out children would be dangerous together 🤣
You should have got your hubby to take him shopping!!! I always pull that one 😅

LBF2020 · 11/01/2023 08:56

How's everyone doing today? Definite easing of symptoms for me today at 10 (ish) weeks. Hope that's a good, not bad sign 🤞

jollydollyirl · 11/01/2023 09:09

Thanks @buttercupbee and @marleyandme for the bloods tips! It would be great if you could link me the video that helped you @marleyandme!

8+3 today and I really have no symptoms at all. Boobs which were so heavy and tender have gone back to normal although I'm still really fatigued. Hoping all's ok!

Amme18 · 11/01/2023 09:11

@LBF2020 10+3 here and symptoms SO much better! Eased off end of last week and wasn’t sure if it was a fluke. Feel worse in the evening but think that’s tiredness mainly, which triggers the sicky feeling but nowhere near as bad as it was!

LMM91x · 11/01/2023 09:23

Same i’m worrying re easing 9+5 (last few days not been half as nauseous) but thibking nothing i can do so just hope for thr best and see how next few weeks go!! Still nothing from my midwife 🤣

Mulner88 · 11/01/2023 09:35

I'm now 11+1 and my nausea has gotten a lot better. It just perks up a bit in the evening but defo not feeling as bad as I was weeks 8&9. Tiredness is till there though! 12 week scan in 6 days

LBF2020 · 11/01/2023 10:06

Glad to hear we all seem to be feeling a bit better.
I too feel worse in the evenings, I tend to have a bath early evening and the lay in bed/fall asleep until I feel sick because I'm hungry - then we have dinner.
I feel for all of you with little ones already, it must be tough!

tropicalplaydoh · 11/01/2023 10:55

I'm off work again due to sickness/nausea. I'm struggling so much (9 weeks), I hope it eases soon. Really getting me down.

Amme18 · 11/01/2023 11:05

@tropicalplaydoh mine peaked around then and the just dropped massively at 9+6 to tolerable so fingers crossed!

MidnightSunshine12 · 11/01/2023 11:31

Had my 12 week scan this morning. Wriggly baby all lovely and looking good. New due date 26th July so a wee bit early to be on this group (I thought I was 11+3 but they dated me 12 weeks today). Feeling very happy and reassured. Particularly as I've had spotting and lack of morning sickness!

LMM91x · 11/01/2023 11:33

Amazing @MidnightSunshine12 don’t worry we won’t chuck you out to July group🤣🤣. That reassurance must feel bloody amazing, I cannot wait to get there as my head can’t take much more of this anxiety!!!

tropicalplaydoh · 11/01/2023 11:34

I really hope so x

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 11/01/2023 11:36

@MidnightSunshine12 congratulations on your scan 🥰
It is also reassuring for me because I have had spotting and no symptoms.

LMM91x · 11/01/2023 11:43

What kind of spotting has everyone had?? I’ve had some brown when i wipe today… assuming normal but obviously mind is in overdrive :(

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 11/01/2023 11:47
