Here’s a new thread for the upcoming new year.

I think we’ve got all due dates covered now but newbies are still of course most welcome. We’re a friendly, chatty bunch so do feel free to join in.

I called my GP today (8 weeks preg) to register the pregnancy and got told that they will call back within 8-12 weeks...? Is this because people usually call as soon as they get the BFP? Because last time when I called at that time, they said it was too early and call later! Anyway, hopefully I get the phone call from the midwife soon so I can start with the scans etc, higher risk coz of BMI, twins, previous MMC, previous csection...I'm going to be a challenge for them!

ChloeN · 09/01/2023 13:53

@Amme18 i love boiled eggs too so you’re not alone🙌

Createcomet · 09/01/2023 13:56

BCxx · 09/01/2023 11:37

@Createcomet @Nic2908 im going for another section this time. The midwife said at my 12 week scan appointment the consultant will go through the benefits/risks of a VBAC but I am far too anxious to ever consider it 🙈 so I will just be nodding along then swiftly asking for a section! She said they’ll then just phone me around 32 weeks to ask for my decision. I am a bit more nervous about a section the second time round when there’s already a scar there etc but they’ll be 2 years between them and they do it every day so trying not to worry about that (yet)

Ah well done, this sounds like a solid plan! I know I'm going to struggle so much making the decision between section and VBAC. My head says go for the section, but I know I will focus too much on the risks of both and panic 🤣

Do you think I'll be consultant led after an emergency section? I'm 9 weeks and haven't even heard from midwives yet.

CityKity · 09/01/2023 14:19

@Amme18 @ChloeN another boiled egg fan here! I’m vegetarian and really craving protein at the moment, so it’s boiled eggs for now. My mum made a delicious chicken soup over the holidays that I was obsessed with the broth of and just didn’t eat the meat itself. I’m really not a fan of meat texture but giving myself a lot of leeway to satisfy cravings atm.

Amme18 · 09/01/2023 14:25

@CityKity i’m not a massive meat eater normally but not vege, I just don’t love meat, but pregnancy last time and this time I’ve totally gone off meat!

BananaBread3 · 09/01/2023 14:35

Has anyone found out they’ve got twins? Surprised but it explains why I’ve been feeling so sick🤢

AnnieApple123 · 09/01/2023 14:39

@CityKity Interestingly I’m just the same with wanting soup broth. I’ve managed to find a great chicken and ginger one.

@sally16 7am is a lie-in here! I’ve told DS that Xmas holidays are well and truly over now and that we’re going back to just having screen time after lunch from today. I think I’m going to struggle even more than he is though!

I just can’t decide whether I want to know the sex this time. Got NIPT booked for next week so need to make a decision before then as that would be the most logical time to do it (due to the high accuracy). It feels very early though. I’m still just getting used to the idea of there being a baby at all. I may call the place I’m booked at and ask if they’d be happy to keep the result until later.

Oh goodness @BananaBread3 , twins! Hope this is feeling like good news for you. xx

Chocolotandtea · 09/01/2023 14:52

Congrats @BananaBread3! I would love twins. Double the fun plus once they are toddlers they raise each other, right?? 😂

LS888 · 09/01/2023 15:01

Also a fan of eggs here! In fact I think I have had boiled egg on toast most days in the past week. I even Googled if it was possible to eat too many! A good healthy source of protein. My other half is veggie so although I am not we do eat quite a lot of vegetarian food. I have completely gone off meat like chicken. We eat quorn substitutes sometimes. Even gone off bacon which is a weekend staple!

Wrenegade · 09/01/2023 15:02

@mamabeeboo I called GP as soon as I got a bfp. Was told to self refer to the midwifery team at six weeks, I have done this and received an email to say I wouldn’t be contacted until at least 12 weeks. I think each region handles it differently and unfortunately some appear to be over stretched. Can you self refer without the GP to your local unit? I would call back before the 12 week point. I am nine weeks and no sign of any appointments yet.

sally16 · 09/01/2023 16:54

@BananaBread3 Ohhh another twins!!
@mamabeeboo is also twins! That's 2 so far I think! 😍

somuchtolearnabout · 09/01/2023 17:13

Thanks a lot to whoever mentioned the BK cheese bites earlier. Because of you, I've had to order myself a chicken royale meal and a share box of cheese bites which I have zero intention of sharing.

I hope you're happy with yourself.

sally16 · 09/01/2023 17:21

@somuchtolearnabout I got DP to go get me Nando's halloumi fries 😂
Its all about the cheese this pregnancy!

Recoba · 09/01/2023 17:30

@mamabeeboo and @BananaBread3 congratulations on the twins! Exciting and daunting in equal measure!

Just thrown up for the first time (opening the dishwasher! Guess that's me off kitchen chores...) at 8+1. Worried this is the same trajectory I had last time, so probably need to go to the GP and get some drugs.

Also another soup and (separately of course) egg addict here. Made potato and carrot soup last night and it was the best. Planning to get a bunch of soups in the fridge so that I can just grab one of those for lunch rather than faffing about trying to figure out what I want to eat. Finding the periods where I feel really sick, know I should eat something, but can't bear the thought of food to be really tough.

LS888 · 09/01/2023 17:30

Now I’m craving cheese bites! I popped to Iceland on my way back from town earlier and bought a load of beige food! Hubby is away so I can have what I want!

Also some of you know that I left my teaching job in December. I had an interview today to work at the local library and have just been called to say I’ve got the job. So pleased! It’s just casual hours but think that will fit in nicely for now!

Amme18 · 09/01/2023 17:30

@somuchtolearnabout it was me and I can’t stop thinking about them either. Love BK fries too! Sorry 🤣

LMM91x · 09/01/2023 17:35

@Amme18 @somuchtolearnabout i’m ordering right now 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

sally16 · 09/01/2023 17:36

@LS888 congratulations on your new job! I think I'll be going casual hours after mat leave and I'm so excited 🤣 wish I could do it now haha!

CityKity · 09/01/2023 17:53

@LS888 congrats on the new job! I’ve heard that library jobs are really competitive so you just have aced the interview!

@BananaBread3 amazing news, more twins for the thread! DH is absolutely desperate for twins and it’s almost annoying me now, because I don’t want him to be disappointed when it’s just one (which is the most likely outcome!).

Massively bloated after a run today, to the point that I got out of the shower to what looks like a tiny bump! Scared the hell out of me! When did you previous mums start showing in your first pregnancies?
I’m very petite and even at my fittest have always had a soft lower tummy (no abs for me!) which is lucky now because I have zero clothes that are tight on that part of my body! I’ll be gutted/lost when my trusty high waisted jeans no longer fit though.

AnnieApple123 · 09/01/2023 18:02

Wonderful news about the job @LS888 .

@CityKity I had a very similar experience yesterday noticing a bump, also on coming out of the shower. I feel like things have suddenly changed just in the last day and I’m no longer comfortable wearing trousers with buttons. I don’t have a huge selection of things to wear unfortunately.

BCxx · 09/01/2023 18:06

@LS888 great news about the job, congratulations! That sounds like a dream compared to a classroom of children 😅

@Createcomet at my hospital I was automatically red pathway because I’d had a section before so consultant led although I don’t know what actual difference that will make. I didn’t ever see the consultant last time, it was just two phone calls. I’d assume most hospitals are the same with the consultant led thing for previous sections

TattyTil · 09/01/2023 18:10

@LS888 congrats on the new job! Cheese bites for everyone to celebrate!

BCxx · 09/01/2023 18:11

Had one of the worst days. Just one of those days where there’s nothing else that could possibly go wrong 🙈 I’m always so patient with my little boy but I let out one of those screams that are almost silent because you just don’t know what else to do.. he just looked at me like what is wrong with you 😂 Just felt like I couldn’t take any more!

Ive ate about a loaf of bread to stop the sick feeling today and just wolfed down a big bowl of pasta. It’s almost like the feeling of needing to burp is making me feel like I’m going to be sick but it’s happening so much 😩

sally16 · 09/01/2023 18:17

@BCxx oh no! I hate those days!
I've to take DC for a hair cut tomorrow morning and I'm already screaming inside 🤣🤣🤣
