Here’s a new thread for the upcoming new year.

I think we’ve got all due dates covered now but newbies are still of course most welcome. We’re a friendly, chatty bunch so do feel free to join in.

Poking in appt today with bloods and pee and all the usual stuff. Been put on increased folic acid because of BMI and consultant led due to that and previous c section. Fairly happy though because midwife did say I could request a planned section so fingers crossed to that. Ended up with an emergency section last time and was off my face on every drug going as baby was back to back and I just don’t want that for us again. going to book the nipt test next I think.

also got given my 12 week scan date at the same time, 30th January which feels like an eternity!!

I also feel like I have a huge bump for 9 weeks I’m hoping it’s just water though as I’ve not been over eating or anything due to nausea and vomiting.

you are all making me laugh talking about cheese bites. Literally making me want to gag just the thought, it’s strange isn’t it how sickness and being put off things is different for different people.

sally16 · 08/01/2023 21:51

@Nic2908 I also had an emergency c section last time and I'm looking forward to this one 😅
I've already made my playlist for the operating room, planning to ask the nurses who aren't scrubbed to take photos of baby coming out etc and photo with me baby and DP!
As I got none last time as he was a funny shade of blue and whisked away :( longest 9 hours of my life waiting to see his face!

Amme18 · 08/01/2023 22:05

@Nic2908 interesting about the folic acid - didn’t even know this was a thing!! Just googled as didn’t want to be rude and ask your BMI - mines over what they say should take increased folic acid for too but not had anything said to me!!

I’ve not had my scan app yet, although booking app today so should hear this week. Feel like I’m going to be past 12 weeks though as I’m over 10 now.

Also on consultant led, dad has diabetes and because of BMI. I was last time too and I didn’t mind, just felt extra watched over!

Couldn’t eat cheese over Xmas, and the maccys Xmas cheese smelt like feet. I was gutted 🥲 but they’re normally my fave treat.

I had low lying placenta last time and got myself all ready for a c section after being disappointed to start with…to be told it had moved and my baby was massive 🤣 Induced at 39 weeks but had a lovely birth, 8lb 10.

Amme18 · 08/01/2023 22:06

@sally16 how scary, I can’t imagine!

SnowL2021 · 08/01/2023 22:10

Thanks for all the responses re sex! We previously DTD regularly (well, regularly for a pregnant person 😂) during my first pregnancy and I had no cramps/old blood, which is why I’ve been a bit stressed this time! But the cramps lasted barely an hour tonight so I’m feeling more relaxed now. Part of me thinks I need to make the most of it before I get to the stage where I feel like a 90-year-old grunting hippo!

LMM91x · 08/01/2023 22:12

@Nic2908 hahaha sorry about the cheese bite talk 🤣🤣

ChloeN · 08/01/2023 22:14

@overwork I was thinking of messaging the midwife about it this week if mine didn’t resolve, haven’t been properly for weeks!

LMM91x · 08/01/2023 22:14

@Amme18 so I was chasing up my appts and we have this ‘online chat’ for non urgent queries to the midwife and she did mention the increase folic acid to me as my bmi is on high side. I rang GP and she was like huh wtf wouldnt think thats necessary but she did prescribe it to me anyway!! Imm sure it will have little differencw as i’m 9weeks already and been on the low dose xxx

nadsc · 08/01/2023 22:44

I was on extra folic acid in my previous pregnancy but as I didn’t have any complications I don’t need it or aspirin this time. I think they have a list and you have to tick at least two boxes on that list. Last time it was first time mum and bmi, this time just bmi. Folic acid didn’t bother me but the aspirin did. Soo convinced it caused me to have severe acid reflux from 3rd trimester.

Amme18 · 08/01/2023 22:46

@nadsc ah maybe that’s same then as second pregnancy, and BMI was lower last time 😅
I had no aspirin and lived on Rennies for the last trimester! My bump was so high!

LBF2020 · 08/01/2023 23:18

Another here that hasn't DTD since finding out. I have cervical ectropion and I often bleed from DTD. Not sure my anxiety could deal with that.
With regards to social, DH wants to tell the world but I don't share much of my private life on SM. In my husbands case I think sharing makes it more real for him. Because obviously he doesn't have to deal with the nausea fatigue etc etc 🤣

Mulner88 · 08/01/2023 23:23

So many messages to catch up on today!!

@overwork I suffer constipation anyway (IBS-C) and had it all under control...and then I got pregnant 😂 I would recommend plenty of water, linseeds on your cereal or mixed in yoghurt (whilst having a glass of water), kiwi's and gentle movement! Things like Fybogel can help too. Oh and a coffee seems to get things going for me too sometimes. I think now because I can't really stomach water, my constipation has gotten worse but I'm really trying to drink it!!

I won't be making any announcements online I don't think. Maybe when baby is here I will! I don't judge people who do at all, but I've really pulled back from social media anyway past couple years!

We also haven't DTD as I've not been feeling great and a bit anxious too after reading people getting spotting/cramps (which I know is harmless). At this stage I'll prob just wait till my 12 week scan as it's only next week!

Thats cool that you can request a planned section! I've already been thinking about delivery too. I had an emergency section with my first and we had all kinds of problems. So I've been wondering whether midwifes will suggest VBAC or planned section. I have to admit I think I'd prefer a planned section because VBAC might be a bit of a lottery after last time, but I have no idea.

sally16 · 09/01/2023 08:49

First day lone parenting this side of Xmas.. wish I brought DS a snack selection up last night so we didn't need to get out of bed at 7am :(

BCxx · 09/01/2023 11:34

@LMM91x @DesertSnow same here with the sex thing! I think last time we didn’t do it in the first trimester either. I don’t want to badly enough that it’s worth it to me 😂 We stayed at a nice hotel at the weekend, a rare child-free night away and I actually thought we might have then but when we got there I felt so bloated and sore almost that I just had absolutely no interest. We continued (every second week or something, not loads 🤣) in the second trimester last time but by the third I was too scared I’d go into labour before my c-section so I think after 32/34 weeks we just stopped completely then it was ages after then you have a baby in your room 🙈

BCxx · 09/01/2023 11:37

@Createcomet @Nic2908 im going for another section this time. The midwife said at my 12 week scan appointment the consultant will go through the benefits/risks of a VBAC but I am far too anxious to ever consider it 🙈 so I will just be nodding along then swiftly asking for a section! She said they’ll then just phone me around 32 weeks to ask for my decision. I am a bit more nervous about a section the second time round when there’s already a scar there etc but they’ll be 2 years between them and they do it every day so trying not to worry about that (yet)

BoodifulGoose · 09/01/2023 11:41

Wonderful.

Stressed out my mind today, struggling to work and remember to eat so ending up being sick more often, and just got a letter through the door that despite detailing my concerns about my anxiety and depression getting worse, and increased thoughts of SH, at my booking appointment, the Perinatal MH Team have decided that "I am feeling well at the moment and there are no concerns that identify that this will be a helpful service to me"

What utter bullshit and what an insulting letter? "You are currently feeling well" SO WHY AM I CRYING FOR HOURS EVERY DAY? Jesus Christ I'm so upset now and I still have a day of work to get though

BCxx · 09/01/2023 11:41

Just read the rest of the comments.. laughing at the lack of sex happening 😂 glad I’m not the only one!

Had cereal then a bagel and a cereal bar, all spaced out this morning but I’m still absolutely starving 🙈 going to end up the size of a house but I just cannot bare feeling sick if I get too hungry

BoodifulGoose · 09/01/2023 11:42

Sorry for ranting I'm just so frustrated I can't believe how horrible that was to read, how could you identify that I am feeling well from the info I gave that was literally the exact opposite of feeling "well"??

BCxx · 09/01/2023 11:43

@BoodifulGoose aw that’s rubbish! You’d think with a service like that if someone feels they’d benefit from it then there obviously is a need. You’d think they’d be more cautious than anything, especially in pregnancy! Hopefully you can get some support. Was that through your midwife? Could you try your GP?

ChloeN · 09/01/2023 11:48

@BoodifulGoose ah lovely I’m so sorry they’re not taking you seriously especially with how rough you’re feeling too!😭 that’s just total shit why do they even bother asking if you need support if they won’t provide it anyway

LS888 · 09/01/2023 11:49

Same here for the lack of sex! I feel for my poor hubby- he probably hates me! I have just been feeling so sick especially first thing in the morning and in the evening. I know it wouldn’t be enjoyable (for me anyway!) I also have cervical ectropion and can bleed from time to time after sex. I’m lucky I haven’t had any spotting so far but don’t want to DTD and it starts something! Maybe after the 12 week scan I will feel a bit more reassured and hopefully the sickness/nausea starts to reduce soon. He is actually away until Friday with work - so definitely no DTD until then. My 12 week scan is on 18th. So less than 10 days to go! Glad I’m not the only one not having sex at the moment- feel reassured that it’s ‘normal’ to not want it whilst feeling so sick!!

BoodifulGoose · 09/01/2023 11:53

@BCxx the letter says to get in touch with GP but I can't see what she'll be able to do for me 😭 and that now means I have to call at 8am tomorrow for an appointment, last week when I tried to get antisickness meds, I had to call over 160 times across 2 days to get on the waiting list for calls and it was so stressful I'm not looking forward to that again 😭

@ChloeN exactly?! I think the wording "it's has been identified you are feeling well" after everything I told my midwife is the most upsetting like wow, if isolating myself and worrying about depression endlessly is well I'd hate to hear what the think is unwell

Amme18 · 09/01/2023 12:45

@BoodifulGoose how insensitive and invalidating of your feelings - and this is from a mental health professional!? I think you should feedback regardless as that’s just awful. What they mean is you don’t meet the threshold because your mental health isn’t severe enough - it’s disgusting how bad you have to be to get help but it’s the lack of funding 🙄 Hope they reconsider or some one sign posts you to a useful service!!

New craving: boiled egg sandwich with salt 🫣 aware this may trigger vom 🤣

On the plus side my sickness is easing! It’s day 4 now of getting gradually better, didn’t want to say it out loud just incase. Still dry heaved this morning when I came downstairs to dog poo 😐 but think that’s reasonable. Seem to be able to get on top of it better when the sickness feeling comes, and can eat actual food!

sally16 · 09/01/2023 12:49

My gp reffered me tk the perinatal MH team, she can't give me anything at all for sleep.. so I'm close to a wee nervy B 🫠😂

Did take my bloods for iron levels though as I look 'pale' 🤷🏼‍♀️I've had to phone DP home from work to look after DS as I can barley keep my eyes open :(
