Here’s a new thread for the upcoming new year.

I think we’ve got all due dates covered now but newbies are still of course most welcome. We’re a friendly, chatty bunch so do feel free to join in.

@Createcomet thanks! I had the buggy today, my husband was going for a quick time so I thought if I took him I’d at least look like I had an excuse for plodding along 😂 I’m going to be 8 weeks on Monday though and have already been sick a while ago and gag most mornings before I get breakfast so I am slightly dreading this huge wave of sickness hitting me next week, that might wipe out all running plans for the foreseeable 🙈 It’s actually sooo hard to grow a baby, I feel like I’m getting more annoyed by it this time. The fact we just feel this awful and this is at the point where no one even knows so you just have to get on with it and get no sympathy. I felt like that today too as I ran in and people were congratulating me for taking the buggy. The buggy is the least of my worries guys.. I’m running with another child too actually 😂

BCxx · 07/01/2023 20:02

@CMG92 what a worry.. fingers crossed you get some positive news from the blood tests 🤞🏼 Thinking of you

CMG92 · 07/01/2023 20:12

Thankyou for all your kind comments, I’m fearing the worst and hoping for the best, had some tears earlier, then the hubby ordered a Chinese to try and cheer me up ❤️

ChloeN · 07/01/2023 21:09

@CMG92 so sorry it’s not better news lovely, sending lots of love💕

Has anyone else experienced dark nipples? I mentioned this really early on but still have it, they go hard and turn purple/black, and when I got out the shower there looked like some white stuff near the middle?? Is that normal lol I did ask my midwife and she said it sounds fine but just seems very early! I’ve not had any other children either

AnnieApple123 · 07/01/2023 21:14

Oh @CMG92 the wait must be so excruciatingly hard. Words can’t even describe. xx

@BCxx I often have similar thoughts of things I’d like to be able to say to people. I was quizzing a workman the other day about whether WD40 fumes could be harmful and he kept on about how he’s exposed to them everyday and he’s fine so what was I making such a fuss about, yadda, yadda. It was right on the tip of my tongue to say, ‘Well yes but you’re not a developing fetus in the most rapid phase of cell division.’

AnnieApple123 · 07/01/2023 21:18

@ChloeN Definite yes here to dark nipples. My breastfeeding toddler picked up on this at 8dpo before I’d even had a positive test. Said, ‘Mummy why have your nibbles gone all black around the edges?’ He didn’t like them like that and wanted me to wash them.

ChloeN · 07/01/2023 21:20

@AnnieApple123 are yours constant or do they come and go? Xx

AnnieApple123 · 07/01/2023 21:31

@ChloeN I’d say they come and go. Definitely they look darker to me at some times than others. Although it’s hard to tell how much is just different lights. I had the white stuff in the middle in my first pregnancy too.

Has anyone told siblings anything yet by the way? DS hasn’t officially been told but seems to have picked it up. He told me yesterday that he thinks Mrs. Goggins from Postman Pat has a baby in her tummy and ‘she’ll have a big bulge soon.’

UsernameNotPresent · 07/01/2023 22:05

@ChloeN yes to dark nipples.
@AnnieApple123 I haven't told anything to my 2 year old yet, I will once I have results of my NIPT and once bump will start to show. At the moment he really likes being carried for cuddles in the day, and I will need to dial this back a bit once the bump pops out. He seems to be consistent with wanting a brother or a sister though when casually questioned, so that's reassuring!

Loudmouth1 · 07/01/2023 22:13

We told my 2 year old there's a baby in mummy's tummy and all we got is "eurgh" and a sick noise, so she is still pretty clueless considering everything gets a sick noise at the minute 😂

sally16 · 07/01/2023 22:32

@ChloeN yup same here!
Try not to get cold 'stuff nips'

Was absolutely agony!!

BCxx · 07/01/2023 23:52

@AnnieApple123 oh I can imagine! it’s sooo tempting isn’t it 😂 It’s like I’m going through silent hell here and getting absolutely no credit for it! By the time people do find out as well no one really cares what you’ve been dealing with. They’re more interested in when you’re due, what will it be etc so you’re expected to just move on from this bit 🙈

BCxx · 07/01/2023 23:54

@UsernameNotPresent im consciously trying to very much carry him on my hip away at the side so he’s not going to be on or near my belly when it’s there! I have no idea how I’m going to manage to lift him when I’m huge, i could barely even get off a seat myself last time 😂

Createcomet · 08/01/2023 07:06

I cannot deal with this tiredness, dizziness and sickness any more 😭 I fell asleep at 7pm last night (so feel like I've lost my whole Saturday night and barely seen my husband!) and have just woken at 7am to get up with my 2 year old. But to be honest I feel like I could sleep for another 3 hours 😭 Is anyone else like this? It's making me so miserable to be this inactive 🙄

Amme18 · 08/01/2023 07:21

We’ve not told ours yet, he’s 3.5 and would tell everyone 🤣 He keeps saying he wants a brother or sister, we had my friends 6 month old for a couple of hours the other day and he wanted to keep him and was lovely with him so that’s reassuring…he’s normally wild and not to be trusted 😅
One of my friends has given me her cot bed though, dropped it round last night and he just thought it was for our dog luckily.

Re nips - always changing, deffo darker, sometimes really dark. Cold is painful!

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 08/01/2023 08:03

When did everybody's symptoms start?

I'm 7+5 and I currently don't have any.

Although there was a heartbeat on my scan on Tuesday the constant spotting and lack of symptoms is driving my anxiety through the roof!

VickiGo · 08/01/2023 08:05

@MinnieFirstTimeMum I had sore boobs from the off, didn't put it down to pregnancy because that usually happens when I'm due on anyway.. nausea didn't start for me until around 8 weeks but I don't really have any other symptoms apart from those

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 08/01/2023 08:08

Thanks @VickiGo I keep waiting (and strangely hoping) for these symptoms to kick in so it can feel more like it is actually happening and nothing has gone wrong since Tuesday.

What a stressful time these first 12 weeks are with all of this waiting.

AnnieApple123 · 08/01/2023 08:09

@MinnieFirstTimeMum In my first pregnancy I had no symptoms. I also found myself wishing for some just for the reassurance. This time I had nothing until just before 9 weeks.

OP posts:
MinnieFirstTimeMum · 08/01/2023 08:10

Thanks @AnnieApple123 I feel the same... wishing for something that I know others are really struggling with.

Ah okay 9 weeks, still time for mine to kick in then.

AnnieApple123 · 08/01/2023 08:11

@Amme18 My DS would also go telling everyone which is why he hasn’t officially been told yet. He doesn’t like the idea of a sibling though unfortunately. I kept showing him pictures over Xmas of my brother and I as children and his much fun we had together. I asked if he’d like a s

OP posts:
AnnieApple123 · 08/01/2023 08:12

sibling to do things with too but he said, ‘No! I like playing by myself.’

OP posts:
VickiGo · 08/01/2023 08:12

@MinnieFirstTimeMum I was convinced I wouldn't get sickness because of how late it came on, but it arrived eventually 😊 I understand your anxiety, even if my boobs hurt slightly less than they may have done 5 minutes ago I automatically think that somethings wrong! The midwife that did my booking appt offered to refer me to speak to someone around the anxiety of pregnancy so maybe they could do the same for you? They said iTalk initially, and I believe you can also self refer to them if the midwife doesn't

LMM91x · 08/01/2023 08:14

@MinnieFirstTimeMum i know the feeling …. Mine have been extremely up and down and I’m constantly thinking should I feel more sick - especially seeing everyone elses struggles!!! But I think if it wasn’t for MN i’d just be counting my lucky stars that I feel ok. Some People do feel fine during 1st trimester … it’s just we mainly hear about the worst cases I think . I spoke to my friend the other day and she went you know what i’m not sure I was ever sick or really felt sick with either of mine and she had two like 6 years apart…i too am waiting to feel terrible but actually with back to the office next week id very much appreciate if it didnt justbstart ramping up at 9weeks🤣.

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 08/01/2023 08:14

Thank you @VickiGo
I haven't had my booking appointment through yet, but if all is well still by then I will mention that to my midwife. Thank you for the advice ❤️
