Here’s a new thread for the upcoming new year.

I think we’ve got all due dates covered now but newbies are still of course most welcome. We’re a friendly, chatty bunch so do feel free to join in.

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
BCxx · 07/01/2023 11:43

@blondebanana oh no, so sorry to hear that. Hope it wasn’t as bad news as you thought or you’re not in pain now if it was 😢

@CMG92 hope your scan is okay today

BCxx · 07/01/2023 11:52

My husband was doing the parkrun this morning so I decided to do it. I made myself do it in over half an hour so I wasn’t out of breath too much, started right at the back. I do feel better that I can do one thing I’d normally do but it was such a bizarre feeling plodding along actively trying to go slow, I so wanted to speed up 🙈 Got a text with my time and it’s my slowest ever parkrun! I might try and go every week until 12 weeks if I can, just don’t want to push it too much

LMM91x · 07/01/2023 11:53

@BCxx and I’ve spent the morning in bed watching netflix…..i’m liking the balance on this group 🤣. Well done !

BCxx · 07/01/2023 11:59

@LMM91x im doing that this afternoon 😂 I was feeling horrible during the week, just like I was so bloated from doing nothing and your belly seems to fill up with air so easily when pregnant so I thought at least that makes me feel a bit better one day a week 🙈

LMM91x · 07/01/2023 12:00

Oh 100% @BCxx I’m going to drag my arse on a long dog walk later for some fresh air and to de bloat. Will come back looking a new woman!

CityKity · 07/01/2023 12:28

@BCxx congrats on the park run! I’ve been such a couch potato this week, the first week back at work winded me a bit. I made it to my first boxing class since being pregnant this morning which I was really nervous about, but the trainer was amazing. It was so nice to feel like myself again! It is a bit weird not pushing so hard and taking more breaks etc but still I’m on such a high now!
Its such a gloomy day I will be spending the rest of it on Netflix #balance 😂

@blondebanana how are you doing this morning? I hope you managed to get some sleep in the end last night.

@CMG92 keeping fingers and toes crossed for your scan today.

DesertSnow · 07/01/2023 12:29

So sorry to hear @blondebanana and @CMG92. I hope you're both and ok and am thinking about you. xx

@mamabeeboo wow, twins! Congrats! Sorry if you said already, do you have other children at home?

@BCxx Congrats on the park run! I'm definitely going to try and keep up running for as long as possible. Also re. bloods, if they're for the screening test (for Downs etc.) then you have to be over 10 weeks, so that makes sense (they double checked I was over 10 weeks when I had mine this week). Though I also had bloods at 8 weeks to determine blood type etc.

My 12 week scan is on the 16th and if all is well I'll join the Facebook group after that. It does seem mad to me that you only get the first scan at 12 weeks unless you pay for private before that. My brother who lives in Canada asked me if I get monthly scans on the NHS.

I'm still really struggling with morning sickness. Have an aversion to ginger (I'm not the biggest fan normally but this is something else) so that's no help, but the worst aversion is water :( Just can't manage it. Only drink I can stand is diet lemonade.

I think there was some talk about cravings? I'm still on the salt and vinegar crisps!

ChloeN · 07/01/2023 12:33

@DesertSnow I love crisps atm too maybe it’s because they’re dry?🤣 I’m still not a big fan of sauces so everything I eat is bland and dry🤦🏻‍♀️

sally16 · 07/01/2023 12:42

100% contemplating letting DS have a nap so I can nap...
even though that means he won't go to bed til like 10pm 😂

The jealousy I feel for those pregnant with DC1 🤣

BCxx · 07/01/2023 13:07

@DesertSnow I was thinking about you running this morning when I was convincing myself just to do it 😂 My friend is a bad exerciser and was still at body pump classes on her due date and stuff I remember, she ran a lot too so I thought it can’t do any harm. Planned to stop at 12 weeks but I’ve read stuff since searching it today about people run walking it while quite far on. Maybe I’ll aim for 16ish weeks 🙈

That would make sense, I think that blood test is the one they do at my 12 week scan. I think my midwife one is just the blood type one and she said they do more iron tests now and give everyone a lose dose of iron 3 times a week regardless if they’re low or not I think. I’m just wishing I was at the 12 week mark now, I’ve still got a month to go until my scan 😩 I’m not fixating on exactly how many weeks and days I am this time but feel like time has slowed down since Christmas a bit! It won’t be long until yours

BCxx · 07/01/2023 13:07

@DesertSnow *mad exerciser not bad 🤣

AnnieApple123 · 07/01/2023 13:17

@sally16 I’ve had exactly the same thought of feeling envy of those who don’t yet have any children and can just focus on their pregnancy! DS is driving me mad today pretending his Tripp Trapp highchair is a ladder and pushing it around everywhere. I blame Fireman Sam, of which we’ve been watching far too much lately.

AnnieApple123 · 07/01/2023 13:18

@blondebanana I’m so sorry to hear you’re going through this. Really hope you haverá more positive update this morning.

sally16 · 07/01/2023 13:23

@AnnieApple123 we watch Hercules and Moana on repeat so my brains half melted today already 😂

He was climbing his kallax unit to get his window open so we come back downstairs 🫠

AnnieApple123 · 07/01/2023 13:30

That’s very interesting about everyone now being given iron @BCxx. I hadn’t heard that. Because I have a thyroid condition I have a lot of iron tests and am almost permanently on Spatone or equivalent, as there’s some evidence that thyroxine is most effective when iron is over a certain level. I’ve been a bit worried about it getting too high with no periods. Next test on Monday so will see what it’s doing…

OP posts:
AnnieApple123 · 07/01/2023 13:41

@sally16 All windows here have already had to be permanently locked. It’s started to concern me how capable I am now of sitting in front of a Fireman Sam or Postman Pat episode and quite literally zoning out and taking in nothing at all. DS will start chattering to me afterwards about some character or other being rescued and I’ll find myself thinking, ‘Really?! I completely missed that.’

I told him that the usual limits on screen time didn’t apply over Xmas (although more because I’ve been so knackered than anything else). Up until yesterday he’s kept reasoning with me that it was still Xmas as the tree was still up. I didn’t have the energy to go against that (nor put the tree away!). From Monday though I feel we really need to turn over a new leaf…

OP posts:
sally16 · 07/01/2023 13:51

@AnnieApple123 people who owned this house before us seemed to think the windows you jsut push the button to open were a good idea 🤣 so DP is changing them to lockable ones today!
And new front and back doors Monday because he's bloody escaped out the old catflaps 😂

Whole streets on alert half the time 🤣🤣🤣

sally16 · 07/01/2023 14:00

DS decided he now likes salt and vinegar.. nothing is 'spicy' anymore

Absolutely heartbroken I need to share now 😂

AnnieApple123 · 07/01/2023 14:05

@sally16 Oh what a nightmare.

OP posts:
DesertSnow · 07/01/2023 16:09

@ChloeN Yes, bland and dry for the win! Thinking I should call the baby Mackie as am just munching Mackies crisps every day 😂

@BCxx Haha what a typo! Yes I've seen about walk/running as well. My plan is continue running as long as I can, but not push myself too hard and listen to my body, and transition to walking when needed. I've read that the baby quite likes the sensation of running and finds it comforting. Yes not long till the 12 week scan for me - I'm pretty nervous. I'm just trying to get through the sickness each day so can't wait till that eases.

@sally16 @AnnieApple123 I honestly don't know how those of you with children are coping. I could not manage the demands of a small child right now. You're doing amazingly.

CMG92 · 07/01/2023 16:17

Hi everyone had my scan and it’s inconclusive, could be it’s too early to see or it’s stopped developing. Had some blood taken and got to have more taken on Monday to see if hormones are rising. Thanks for your kind messages xx

AnnieApple123 · 07/01/2023 16:21

Thinking of you @CMG92 . What a difficult time. xx

I can't imagine the uncertainty your feeling :( xx

If you feel up to it I don't think you have to stop running for ages. Someone in my running group did park run every week throughout pregnancy until 42 weeks...Whilst pushing her two older kids in the buggy! Incredible.

I haven't run for 3 weeks and am really really missing it 😭 I was happily doing buggy runs with my 2 year old but now I can't even face running alone. I'm so so tired, and I feel constantly sick and dizzy. I tried to force myself out the other day but just couldn't do it. I'm usually very disciplined and motivated and right now I just really can't do it. And to add to my problems I have to eat every hour otherwise I'm sick and get very dizzy. I'm really disappointed in myself tbh.

Really well done on the Park run! Seriously impressive!

@CMG92 thinking of you. Not knowing is the worst 😭
