Here’s a new thread for the upcoming new year.

I think we’ve got all due dates covered now but newbies are still of course most welcome. We’re a friendly, chatty bunch so do feel free to join in.

OP posts:

@Havanalily1806 I tend to have Rice Krispies with a small amount of milk! It's a firm favourite at the hospital for those unwell so I thought I'd give it a go one morning and it was quite pleasant in comparison to what I thought it would be like 😂

Animallover87 · 03/01/2023 11:09

I've been eating loads of pancakes/crumpets with butter and wee fruit yoghurts!

SnowL2021 · 03/01/2023 11:14

@MinnieFirstTimeMum I had brown discharge for two days at nearly nine weeks, which was quite scary at the time. I'm 10 weeks today and had a (private) scan last night to check all was ok and it was!

@Havanalily1806 I'm really enjoying weetabix and granola-style cereal! Helped my nausea this morning. Think it's fairly healthy?!

@Gymgal88 Hello and congrats - I don't have anything useful to say really, just that I can't imagine how hard it must be emotionally going through the nerve-wracking first trimester after a MMC x

MinnieFirstTimeMum · 03/01/2023 11:15

Thanks @SnowL2021 I will keep an eye on it then and hope it settles in a couple of days.

kookyelephant · 03/01/2023 11:18

@Gymgal88

I am exactly the same to be honest! I just had to have a word with myself at this point there is absolutely nothing we can do! I debated getting another early scan but im going to try and ride it out till my scan on the 16th!

I too don't have any/many symptoms, my breasts are so so sore! And the pain I described to the midwife (really sharp explosion feeling pain under my right hip bone) she confirmed as being round ligament!

I have started meditating which if you don't do already may sound uncomfortable but it really does help

Sending lots of love 💕

Mulner88 · 03/01/2023 11:18

@SnowL2021 I also had a private scan last night and 10 weeks today so looks like we are at the same stage 😊 glad all went well with your scan.

@Havanalily1806 I'm having porridge but really struggling with it. Special K with a bit of milk I've also tried which wasn't as bad. I tend to snack on fruit, crisps and yoghurts but dinner really turns my stomach, esp chicken!! All I seem to tolerate is pizza, but I can't be eating that everyday 🙈

Havanalily1806 · 03/01/2023 11:29

@sally16 @SnowL2021 ah thank you!! Why hadn't I even thought of a basic breakfast staple like cereal?? 😂 what is wrong with me?? Anyone else just completely useless at the minute too or just me? 🥴 🤦🏼‍♀️ It's just reminded me of a video I had watched where dry cheerios first thing in bed were also recommended... I now have the problem of needing to go to a shop 😅

@Mulner88 thank you! Sultana bran has just came to mind and so far thinking about that hasn't made me feel worse so that's a start 😅 will try and venture out of some supplies later.

I'm really struggling with certain foods too! I had pizza last night which I was okay with thankfully, but I feel I need to get something in my head what I'm going to eat, gear myself up all day that I want to eat it in time to be able to at tea time 🙈. However certain things- at the moment, mince/burgers etc the thought of it is making me heave, like grissily meat 🤮 even tho usually I'm all over a spag Bol 😂

PumpkinEverything · 03/01/2023 12:08

@Mulner88 i def recommend writing it all down if you can 😊 so handy! It’s her first time in childcare with people we don’t know. She’s been doing a day and a half with my mum since I started back, and we were able to hold off on childcare until now which has been good to save money!

I would send the email for your scan and see if they come back to you 😊 or if you Google your trust and maternity services is there a number on the website or anything?

So sorry to hear about your loss @Gymgal88 but congrats and welcome 😊 all pregnancies are different for everyone and it’s so hard not to compare. I had a MMC too (found out at 12 weeks, they stopped growing at around 8/9). That pregnancy, the one with my daughter, and my current one have all been pretty much the same! So I feel like because I’ve had a successful pregnancy with little to no symptoms it’s reassuring to me to feel similar. The only difference for this one is extra tiredness, but pretty sure that’s because I’m also running around after a 14 month old 😂

@Havanalily1806 could you manage any cereal or porridge? Or eggs? Sorry if the thought of both of those turn you! 🙈 I’m feeling the same as you. Not because I have a wedding, but because I was 2lb away from my pre pregnancy weight before finding out I was pregnant and I’d like to watch my weight a bit more this time round! I do find the first trimester is all about surviving though, and once you move into the second it gets easier to manage food 😊

Havanalily1806 · 03/01/2023 12:42

@PumpkinEverything porridge and eggs definitely not 😂🤮 but I'm going to try some cereals! No idea why I hadn't thought of them.

I'm with you and definitely going to try and manage my weight if I can. If all goes well I'll have 9 month from giving birth to the wedding, so I'd like to try keep on top of my weight while pregnant if I can. But definitely at the minute it's not even a thought and I'm just eating whatever my brain tells me I want to eat 😅 for breakfast the other day it was an iced chelsea bun, I'd never have considered eating that a month ago ...

LMM91x · 03/01/2023 12:52

@Havanalily1806 heyy i’m the same! Well I think I have about 10 months (date is set for June 2024) so realllly could do without piling on extra pounds if can be helped…. However unlikely that may be considering I don’t even have the energy to go for a dog walk today 🤣

i’ve been having yoghurt granola and blueberries which actually has controlled my nausea this morning. !! Long may it continue 🤣

Mulner88 · 03/01/2023 12:54

I'm the same, I always said when I get pregnant, I'm still going to exercise and try to eat as healthily as possible. I haven't exercised since beginning November and a few occasions I've been having custard creams for breakfast and basically snacking on toast and crisps throughout the day! It really is about getting through it and surviving and I've come to peace with it now 😂 once I start to feel better, I'll hopefully get back on the exercise/healthy eating train!

Gymgal88 · 03/01/2023 13:24

Thanks everyone for your responses.

It's so nice just having others to talk to at the same stage, I suppose everyone truly is different as is every pregnancy.

@kookyelephant meditating sounds like it could be a good idea.
Everyday I refrain from googling alsorts.
I try to focus on anything other than pregnancy at the moment.
I can't get excited yet.
Hoping my booking in appointment will happen soon and I can speak with them.
Once I am beyond 9/10weeks I may book in for reassurance scan but until then I guess its a waiting game.

Cat1424 · 03/01/2023 13:36

If anyone is pregnant for the first time and likes to listen to podcasts, there is a podcast on Spotify by Jessie Ware called ‘Is it normal? The pregnancy podcast’. It has guest gynaecologists etc on and covers from 4 weeks onwards. I’ve started listening this morning and found it really interesting and reassuring.

LMM91x · 03/01/2023 13:39

oooo thanks @Cat1424 sounds good … podcast to distract me on the commute as won’t be able to reAd!

ChloeN · 03/01/2023 13:51

Does anyone know if your uterus or something pushes on your bladder this early on? I keep thinking I’ve got a uti but I haven’t, it’s like a constant feeling that I need to wee but it’s not painful! I did ask the midwife who I saw this morning and she just said they’re more common in pregnancy!

Havanalily1806 · 03/01/2023 13:51

@LMM91x oh really! We're end of May so around 9 months :).

I've had no energy to do anything either, and now nausea has hit I can't think of anything worse than any kind of physical activity 😂 really want to try get back to the gym though, once the January madness has calmed down, even if it is just for some walking etc, nothing too much.

Have you bought a dress yet? I haven't, I was planning on looking jan/feb and then this happened 😅 can't decide what would be best, I was thinking maybe once I've started to show, so that if I couldn't lose the weight I'd have a good idea what the dress style would need to be, definitely ruining out anything fitted now.

LMM91x · 03/01/2023 13:54

@Havanalily1806 omg the dress siitch I’ve been thinking about for ages….. i have no idea what to do! To be honest when we booked cos it was so far away I’ve been kicking it all down the road thinking I had loads of time but yes a baby will certainly change that. I don’t really understand turnaround time on dresses either cos could I go in Dec/Jan and have a dress ready for June?? I have no idea!

Amme18 · 03/01/2023 13:58

@ChloeN im 9 + 3 and one of my pregnancy apps said something about your bladder being squished within an inch of its life 🤣

Havanalily1806 · 03/01/2023 14:04

@LMM91x yeah I'd kind of done the same, we've sorted everything else, but dresses/suits etc we're completely shelved until this year and now it's this year and I have to think about it 🙈

From what I've read/been told they say to give 9-12 months depending on the designer to have a dress made to order, especially with the mess of the world and delays with all sorts of other things I'd imagine it to be worse. You then need time for fittings and adjustments, and time to actually find a dress you like so I didn't want to leave it until 12 months to start looking (I think I'll be looking for a while 😂 I'm very picky and indecisive)

LMM91x · 03/01/2023 14:18

Well…. That has thrown a spanner in the works for my plans 🤣🤣🤣🤣 i mean in my head I will obviously be a size 8 for my wedding next year but is that realistic (i’m a 14 now ffs🤣🤣) Something i’m going to need to think of a bit more I think and work out…… i havent even thought of the wedding really since we found out ! @Havanalily1806

LBF2020 · 03/01/2023 14:29

How exciting that you're getting married next year @LMM91x & @Havanalily1806

If it's any consolation, I didn't buy my dress until the month before and I still had time to get it altered slightly. I was also reallllllly fussy, I loved the dresses but hated myself in them! If I could go back and do it again I still wouldn't have ordered in advance as I can be pretty indecisive and I'd worry I wouldn't like it come the wedding 🙈

LMM91x · 03/01/2023 14:31

This is VERY helpful thank you @LBF2020 !!

sally16 · 03/01/2023 15:09

@ChloeN I went for a urine test because I thought I had a UTI also... was told it gets worse.. which now I remember it did last time.. and last time I was ✨leaking✨
So back to mini pads for me 🥲

LS888 · 03/01/2023 15:48

Hi ladies, after some advice from those of you who are already mums. My SIL has offered us some baby items before she either gets rid or sells. She will keep for us until we need them. Are the following items must haves? Anything we definitely need? Or better to get our own?

  • next to me cot
  • pregnancy pillows
  • Breast pump electric
  • breast pump manual
  • bump support belt
  • Feeding pillow
LS888 · 03/01/2023 15:48

Or wait and see if we need them and purchase as needed?
