Hi all,
obvs still very early days. I’m currently 4+4 and just trying to enjoy it really. Just wondering if anyone wanted to join me to share early symptoms, how you’re managing to hide symptoms, how you’ll reveal your pregnancy to loved ones etc. and all the other bits and bobs on this journey 🄰

@allgoodthings84 Thanks for the info, there doesn't seem to be any info on my doctor surgery's website and there doesn't seem to a self referral option for my region either, as not all hospitals offer them.

I do need to see a doctor anyway to discuss my medication as it can affect the baby's growth. I do also have some other concerns so it will be useful. Hopefully they will kick things off for me then!

Havanalily1806 · 28/12/2022 19:35

Hi everyone, mind if I join? I'm 5+6 due date of 24 August.

I can't decide if that sour taste is starting to kick in tonight or not... very bloated on an evening but not really feeling sick yet. And sore boobs that I've had for a few weeks now. Oh and extreme exhaustion at 3pm most days 🤣 god help me when I'm back at work next week...

Morag202287 · 28/12/2022 20:03

Just a quick update.. my bloods results came back and doubled up more than the 66% the midwife was super positive and happy, I don't have to go back this week unless I have any issues. So roll on 5th of Jan for my reassurance scan, will be 6wks 4days by that day. Certainly feels ages away.

Soopyjoopy · 28/12/2022 20:54

Rung GP today, got booking in appointment with midwife for 7+6 was closest to 8 weeks they could get :)

Still deciding when to have an early scan, for personal reasons I only want an abdominal scan so not sure when to book!!

DandelionPockets · 28/12/2022 21:53

@Morag202287 great news! good luck for the 5th. Try and find some distractions to make the time go at least a little quicker 😁

@SoopyjoopysGlad you've got your scan date. Not sure on the scans (all new to me) but on another thread it seemed like some people were getting abdominal scans around 8weeks?

@Havanalily1806 congratulations!! Same, so so sleepy this week. Wonder if I can nap when WFH.....

Suppose I need to get on with sorting a booking in appointment, I think I need to call my GP as nothing online about self-referral. How far along was everyone when they called and started the ball rolling? I'm 5+3 tomorrow and not sure if it's too early.

Morag202287 · 29/12/2022 07:12

@DandelionPockets thanks 😊. I would say you could call the now advise you are pregnant and take it from there ? Where do you live? Here in Scotland we can call community midwives and register with them and they talk us through things. I haven't this time yet as had to much going on with EPU. But I'm going ro call after my scan next week. When I called in the past it's always been soon as I've found out so around 5 week mark.

Morag202287 · 29/12/2022 07:15

@DandelionPockets just a wee note to add. For nhs early scans are only really done based on medical history or if there is a problem or specific reason why other than that the first scan is 12weeks. But some people go to private early scans and pay out with NHS so I guess it is really up to you.xx

Cat1424 · 29/12/2022 09:19

@DandelionPockets depending on what area you live in, I would call your GP as early as you can. I spoke to mine over 2 weeks ago and in my area they don’t see you anymore at the GP, they just ask you to self refer to the maternity care unit via an online form. I’ve been waiting almost 3 weeks for a call from them to start my care (I’m almost 8 weeks now so was probably around the same as you when I first called).

Each area seems to manage maternity care differently so I would call sooner rather than later.

DandelionPockets · 29/12/2022 10:09

@Morag202287 @Cat1424 thanks for your messages. I have just now called my GP and they actually do the midwife appointments for booking in there, so have one now for week 10. Glad I called now so thank you! All feels so early but you do need to get the ball rolling I suppose.

Babydustmamma · 29/12/2022 11:43

Hi everyone! Hope it’s ok that I join ā™„ļø currently 4+6 with rainbow baby after loss in June ā™„ļø

feeling very nervous and excited - because of loss I’m a bit nervous to tell anyone again, so would be great to have people to chat with!

HRSC · 29/12/2022 12:44

Hi,
I’m 5wks+4 and this is my first pregnancy and the first month trying which was a surprise but v happy about it. I’ve also been extremely tired, very sore boobs which seem to have grown about 2 cup sizes in a week 🤯 a bit concerned that this will continue over the next 8 months!! I’ve had cramps although them seem to be subsiding and had some back pain too. Also feel like I’m going to keel over or bite someone’s head off if I don’t eat at least every 2 hours or so!! Has anyone else had this?! Also really glad to know that I’m not the only one waking up at the crack of dawn (or before) and unable to get back to sleep !
I have my first scan booked for Monday when I’ll be 6wks+1. Not living in the UK and this is the norm here in my country.

Has anyone else had their flu jab and/or another covid jab? I’m a primary school teacher and v keen to get them before heading back for all the coughs and sneezes but I’ve heard that you should wait til 2nd trimester if you haven’t had it already. Anyone else heard this?

PatientlyImpatient · 29/12/2022 13:57

Hi all,
Hope it’s okay to join. I’m 4+3 so very early days yet but have been trying for a baby since mid 2020. Had a CP last October and have had two
miscarriages in my early 20s. I turned 38 a couple of months ago and this is my first so I’m feeling really nervous. Overthinking every slight twinge but just praying for the best outcome.
Congratulations to you all. Here’s to wishing us all very successful and healthy full term pregnancies.

Rizzo80 · 29/12/2022 14:55

Hello ladies, after reading through this post I thought I'd finally write and congratulate you all.
I'm 6+4, I've contacted my doctors so just waiting on them to get back to me
I'm 42 and a first time mum, the anxiety is insane. I'm unsure on what needs to be done etc
The only symptoms I've got are sore boobs, tooth ache and really bad acne (never had spots/marks like it) can anyone recommend any good face wash please

May94x · 29/12/2022 15:55

Hi everyone it’s nice to see there’s quite a few of us at the same stage 😊

I’m 5+4 today and just had my booking appointment confirmed but it’s not till the end of January!! I’ll be 10+2. Just seems a very long wait and I’m so scared something will go wrong in the mean time. Thinking of booking a private scan around 8 weeks for peace of mind

Babydustmamma · 29/12/2022 15:56

@PatientlyImpatient sorry to hear about your losses, but tentative congratulations on this pregnancy ā™„ļø I’ve also had a loss recently and must say the anxiety is real.

I have had one successful pregnancy which came to full term and one mmc in June. I’ve had a fair amount of cramps (nothing really painful, but just aware that they’re there… on and off for the past week or so). I’m wondering if it’s more common after you’ve already had a pregnancy as I’ve read your uterus has been stretched, but finding it hard to not worry at every twinge.

anyone else having cramps?ā™„ļø

big congratulations and hello to everyone šŸŒˆā™„ļø

Firsttimemomma1 · 29/12/2022 16:00

Got my second lot of betas back today, 43,344 from 9,458 a week ago. Very happy about that!

6w 5d scan tomorrow and hoping to finally see that little flicker of a heartbeat.

In other news, currently struck down with the flu and that on top of the nausea is so hard to deal with!! Not eaten for three days and relying on fluids and freshly squeeze orange juice to get some sort of nutrients in my body!

cross everything this passes soon!

Havanalily1806 · 29/12/2022 16:11

Hi @May94x I'm 6 weeks today and still waiting for my booking in appointment but I'm not expecting it to be quick judging by the mess the nhs is in at the minute.. I've had an acknowledgment email which says I'll hear from them in two weeks time.

I've booked a scan in for 8 weeks, wasn't going to book it so soon but I checked again yesterday and half of the times had been booked and we were limited to a specific date, so I've booked it and now just trying to not think about it šŸ™ˆ. Currently wishing all the time away but I'll regret that massively when I'm back at work next week! How are you finding everything?

ClaBro1 · 29/12/2022 16:31

Congrats everyone. šŸ’«
I hope you’re managing to keep the nausea under control-it’s awful but positive too.
has anyone taken a test like this! Confused on how the dr would interpret this? Do you add on two weeks like you do with CB?

LuckyStar511 · 29/12/2022 17:16

@May94x I’m 5+4 today too ā˜ŗļø I’ve booked an early scan for when I’ll be 8+6. Which still feels like ages away but at least it’s not as long as the 12/13 week scan.
I haven’t booked my first midwife appointment yet. In my area, you have to email them to get booked in so I’ll do that next week I think.

May94x · 29/12/2022 17:38

@Havanalily1806 mine was originally for the 24th Jan but they rang me today to push it back to the 31st due to staff shortages! Hopefully you hear back soon. It has to be before 10 weeks so they can do the screening tests any way.

I’m just not feeling very pregnant šŸ™ˆ dunno if that’s a good or bad thing! I know it’s still early days yet but I’d like to feel something 🤣 how about you?

@ClaBro1 I can’t offer much help I’ve never seen a test like that before!!

@LuckyStar511 I’m thinking of booking it for when I’ll be around the same. I unfortunately lost my first pregnancy around 8+5 (found out at 12 week scan) so would be nice to get past that date and see that everything is alright this time!

Notmulan · 29/12/2022 18:53

Early days for me . Due early September. This will be my fourth! Eek. A surprise. A good surprise, but wasn’t trying. I’m 39.

Notmulan · 29/12/2022 19:00

@May94x I hear good things about private scans . I think if it’s affordable it’s a good thing for anyone who wants to put their mind at ease.

@PatientlyImpatient congratulations. That’s a long haul you’ve had of trying to conceive . I’ll pray it stays positive for you too.

if it helps anyone . Nausea is a good thing , shows those pregnancy hormones are kicking in. Equally don’t be worried if you’re not feeling nauseous or only lightly nauseous as that’s common too.

elliew818 · 29/12/2022 19:10

Hi, hoping it’s not too late to join… I’ve been lurking since I got my BFP on Christmas Day but been too nervous to post! Pregnant with my 3rd but have had 2 TFMRs at 12 weeks a few years ago and a MC at 7 weeks in July so not even remotely considering telling anyone IRL. Been nice reading others’ stories and glad I’m not the only one with insomnia and nausea, feels too early- I’m 5 weeks today by LMP, will probably get a reassurance scan but just crossing fingers I get passed 7 weeks this time.

EmmzRB · 29/12/2022 19:25

Hi Everyone!

6 weeks + 1 today and its my first pregnancy. So many things buzzing around in my mind and trying to to get too excited but also stay positive.

Got my booking appt next week and want to ask about changing symptoms. My boobs were really tender and swollen for the 2 weeks since we found out I was pregnant but its calmed down now.

Fatigue, food aversion and indigestion are very real though.

Congratulations everyone

DandelionPockets · 29/12/2022 19:36

Congratulations to everyone who's joined today! Hope everything goes well for you all.

I've also decided now that I will get an early scan around the 8 weeks point privately. Would love to know if everything is going ok before the 12week scan.

The symptom the last few days: heightened sense of smell. On top of boobs still really sore and really bloated (partner keeps tapping my belly and I'm like, no it's the size of an apple seed atm. šŸ˜‚
