Hi all,
obvs still very early days. I’m currently 4+4 and just trying to enjoy it really. Just wondering if anyone wanted to join me to share early symptoms, how you’re managing to hide symptoms, how you’ll reveal your pregnancy to loved ones etc. and all the other bits and bobs on this journey 🄰

@Owlgirl14 my fatigue, nausea and brutal headaches have really ramped up the past couple of days. Nothing will shift the headache 🄺 hope you feel better soon x

allgoodthings84 · 24/01/2023 13:19

@Owlgirl14 I’m around 9.5 weeks and feeling really shattered all the time but my nausea is starting to ease. It was really bad (I had to get tablets from doctors) but now it’s nowhere near as bad and sometimes I even forget about the nausea (it’s 24/7). I would have been worried about if I hadn’t had a scan at the weekend as it started to ease a few days before the scan. I think it’s meant to peak around 8-10 weeks then start to ease off a little bit everyone is different.

Augustbabyy · 24/01/2023 13:45

@Owlgirl14 I'm 9 weeks today and I am exhausted! Had my booking in appointment today and the midwife said it should ease in the 2nd trimester šŸ¤žšŸ¼

I was also due my smear test in 2 weeks, but she advised me that I should cancel due to being pregnant. Also, because I had a colposcopy 12 months ago, my pregnancy is classed as 'high risk' and I'll have a meeting with the consultant booked in to discuss the integrity of my cervix...something else to worry about now!

Londongirl87 · 24/01/2023 14:11

@Augustbabyy Did you just have a colposcopy, or also treatment? I had a Lletz treatment 2 years ago (I had CIN1) and I haven't had my booking appointment yet (it is this Saturday) but I guess I'll also be high risk for the same reason.
If you just had a colposcopy but no treatment, I am sure you will be fine :-)

allgoodthings84 · 24/01/2023 14:17

I had a colposcopy 2 years ago but my smear a year ago always back in the clear so back onto every 3 years

Owlgirl14 · 24/01/2023 16:00

@Cat1424 Thanks Cat, I hope it eases for you soon.

@ClaBro1 I'm with you on the headaches that don't shift. My symptoms seem to start in the evenings and I often go to bed with them and feel really poorly which means I can't sleep for a few hours. Hopefully they'll start to ease off around 12 weeks if not before so we can start to feel better 😊

@allgoodthings84 I'm glad your nausea is starting to ease for you, mine did last week but has been back the last few days. I know what you mean about the worry as my symptoms eased and I was feeling better on an evening and them bam. It's like a rollercoaster!

@Augustbabyy I'm 9 weeks today too based on LMP. Have my booking in app on Thursday so will see what they say. Hope I don't have to wait too long for my 12 weeks scan as I've held off a private one so far as everything seems to be ok.

allgoodthings84 · 24/01/2023 20:18

@Owlgirl14 oohhh no don’t say that. I’ve still got 24/7 nausea but it’s not bad enough I need to take anything for it now so I’m hoping it won’t get worse again lol. I’ve got my appointment Thursday too when I’m 10 weeks by LMP

Daisy155 · 24/01/2023 20:49

Hi ladies thought I’d join in I am very early I am only 6 weeks had an early scan last week and just thought to check how everyone else is getting on!

l hope you’re all wellšŸ’•

Augustbabyy · 24/01/2023 21:27

@Londongirl87 I had LLETZ as well. The midwife did say not to worry about being classed as "high risk" as she had to class me as either low or high, there isn't an in-between!

Owlgirl14 · 24/01/2023 22:25

@allgoodthings84 Ahh sorry I must have read it wrong, I only had a few hours sleep last night. Glad you're not having to take anything at the mo, let's hope things get better for both of us šŸ¤ž

Are you going armed with any questions or anything. I've no idea what to expect apart from they said there's a lot of forms to fill in.

allgoodthings84 · 24/01/2023 22:30

@Owlgirl14 this is my second child so I haven’t got many questions but want to mention that I want a c section right from the beginning after my daughters birth and ask what the process is of making sure that happens etc.

allgoodthings84 · 24/01/2023 22:30

@Owlgirl14 and yep the first appointment is mega boring all forms and blood being taken lol and being weighed etc.

Is anyone considering doing a private NIPT / Harmony test? I am 36 and worried about the higher risks of trisomy so I was thinking of booking one privately since the test from the NHS seems to have more false positives and negatives.
I have my booking appointment on Saturday so will ask the midwife as I read somewhere that some hospitals offer it straight away to 'older' mums.

And other question: When are you planning to plan work? I've been feeling so tired lately that I feel like my productivity at work is getting a bit of a hit. I also had to miss an offsite last week (which lasted 2 days and included dinners + a night in a hotel), and I am tempted to tell my boss, so he understands why I am not 100%, but I am just 8+3 so I feel like it is too early...

@laurapalmer22 and @Owlgirl14 I am also super blotted! I bought my favourite jeans one size up a couple of weeks ago, and live in leggings whenever I don't have to be in the office! I am 5'5 and not overweight but I've always had a bit of belly fat and I feel like it is so obvious now since I can't really hold my stomach in anymore because of the bloat.

We are doing a private test (essentially the same as the harmony test) to check for Downs at just over 10 weeks. I'm 40 so the risk is a lot higher than with my earlier pregnancies. Apparently they can even tell you the gender at that stage! Test is a week on Monday.

Owlgirl14 · 25/01/2023 14:37

@allgoodthings84 thanks for the heads up, I've already told my husband it's just form filling and a bit boring but he still seems super excited!

Although I think all his Christmases came at once when I told him I was pregnant Christmas Eve as I've never wanted kids. Was going to give it some thought though next year with our age but I guess it was just meant to be. I'd probably of only over thought not wanting to be pregnant or not getting any sleep and still saying no šŸ˜‚

Firsttimemomma1 · 25/01/2023 18:23

Had a little reassurance Scan today (dating Scan is 2 weeks today so needed to break up the wait a little). Baby’s heart rate is lovely, it has grown so so much and was wiggling around, even gave us a little wave. Measuring 10+4 as expected (pretty sure most of that is what seems to be a very huge head haha) ā¤ļø

Countdown to the dating scan is officially on!

Owlgirl14 · 25/01/2023 18:31

@Firsttimemomma1 That's great news, you must be so relieved. I'm waiting it out until the 12 week scan. Time seems to be going fairly quick though.

Firsttimemomma1 · 25/01/2023 18:33

@Owlgirl14 thank you. Very relieved and now feel I can relax a little. Time for me is going so slow but that’s because I was so worried.

I was told I couldn’t have children so I’ve almost been waiting for something to go wrong (hence the reassurance to get me through these first 12 weeks). It’s such a long time to wait without anything, I admire that you’ve been able to do it!!

Owlgirl14 · 25/01/2023 19:39

@Firsttimemomma1 I think everyone's experiences are different though and it's good for one's mind and anxiety to get confirmation that everything is ok. I bet you couldn't believe it when you found out having been told that!

My situation is very different to yours as I have never really wanted kids but was going to think about it next year now with being 36. All it took was one night, thought the chances were low and then bam!

To be honest the time has given me chance to try to get my head around it all. I usually like things planned out but this was so unexpected. But seeing how happy my husband is makes me happy.

I'm surprised how calm and relaxed I am about it all as by choice I didn't want to be pregnant at all and go through it. But thats because I've been ill on and off for the last 6 years and I was finally starting to feel really well! So maybe that helped it happen!

At the minute I don't have anything for concern as I've had plenty of symptoms, they got a bit better at 8 weeks and then ramped up again just before 9 weeks. So hoping little bean is ok in there come the 12 weeks scan. Got my booking in appointment tomorrow so it may seem more real then! And hopefully I'll find out when I may get a scan which should then hopefully only be a few weeks away. I've held out this long so just a bit longer to go 😊

Firsttimemomma1 · 25/01/2023 20:01

@Owlgirl14 so sorry you felt poorly for such a long time. Glad you started to feel better and a little more like yourself - maybe it did help, the body is a fascinating thing.

What absolutely baffles me is I got pregnant without a period! That in itself evidences how everyone’s bodies are so so so different (and made it really hard to estimate when the little bean was conceived which turned out to be the week of my grandad passing which I take a lot of comfort in - one soul out and one soul in). I have no ā€œconcernsā€ per se and the symptoms are very much there albeit they are now subsiding slightly as the placenta takes over but I just struggled believing it was real (and still do a little bit). I also googled far too much and scared myself silly which I absolutely regret doing but I’m sure I’m not the only one.

Good luck for tomorrow - not that you need it as it’s a very straightforward app but I remember you saying hubby couldn’t wait to attend everything and I can only imagine how excited he must be now it’s all started to get a bit real. Fingers crossed your dating scan isn’t too far behind, I can’t imagine it will be given how far you are so hopefully your trust is on the ball.

Moni81 · 25/01/2023 20:16

Just quick question, I wonder if any of you had weird bright yellow wee. When I wiped today it was nearly like fluorescent yellow markeršŸ™ˆI have booking appointment tomorrow so will mention it, but maybe some of you had it and know the reason behind it.

allgoodthings84 · 25/01/2023 20:24

@Owlgirl14 he might find it interesting as he’s not the one having to answer all the questions, give plenty of blood and pee in a pot šŸ˜‚

@Firsttimemomma1 I’m so glad it went well and what a great scan picture

@moni are you taking pregnancy vitamins? If so some of the vitamins get rid of what you don’t need in your wee making it bright yellow.

Moni81 · 25/01/2023 20:32

@allgoodthings84 I take pregnancare for about month now and it's first time I got such weird colour urine. Maybe I stopped absorbing all vitamins and just pass it out lol

Owlgirl14 · 25/01/2023 20:33

@Firsttimemomma1 Thank you, yes he's super excited bless him. I love how on board he is with it, being super helpful and says I will be a great mum. It's all very comforting whilst I get my head around it all.

I can't wait for my placenta to start taking over! Evenings and bedtime are worse for me.

I'm trying not to Google things unless it's to see what's happening each week as I did last year when I had covid and I got really stressed and anxious and I don't want that to happen again.

@allgoodthings84 Thanks I shall look forward to that šŸ˜‚ I read it's also a chance for them to give more information about the pregnancy, process, antenatal classes and all that so I'm sure he'll find it interesting. Then I guess the others bits are important too about family history and things!

Firsttimemomma1 · 25/01/2023 21:10

@Moni81 i have it sometimes - its the excess vitamins from your supplements. Nothing to worry about :)

Augustbabyy · 25/01/2023 21:58

@Firsttimemomma1 what a great scan photo and experience! I had a private scan at 6+6; in now 9+1 and it feels a looooong time ago! Counting down the days until my 12 week NHS scan!

@Moni81 I have also had this! I take pregnacare daily and think it must be linked!
