Hi all,
obvs still very early days. I’m currently 4+4 and just trying to enjoy it really. Just wondering if anyone wanted to join me to share early symptoms, how you’re managing to hide symptoms, how you’ll reveal your pregnancy to loved ones etc. and all the other bits and bobs on this journey 🄰

@ClaBro1 hopefully not connected and just normal pregnancy symptoms - hope you feel better soon 🄰 Everything is such a worry isn't it.

@Soopyjoopy saaaaame! I'm trying to concentrate on Netflix (Ginny & Georgia) but not even that can distract me right now!

Londongirl87 · 20/01/2023 08:16

Symptoms update: 8 weeks and I had proper nausea this morning for the first time + my boobs which were already bigger, are now extremely sore, particularly the outside part and the nipples!

First early ultrasound tomorrow and I am still terrified that they will tell me that something is wrong...

allgoodthings84 · 20/01/2023 08:44

@Londongirl87 mine is on Sunday and I’m really nervous too. In some ways I wish I hadn’t booked it but feel like I need to know

Londongirl87 · 20/01/2023 08:49

@allgoodthings84 I think exactly the same as you! A part of me wished I had not booked because I am worried that my anxiety might become worse if they tell me that there is a baby, but it is measuring small, or something like that.
Good luck for Sunday! I'll have my fingers crossed for you! :)

Firsttimemomma1 · 20/01/2023 08:52

@ClaBro1 if it helps bring some reassurance I has those exact symptoms at 7-8 weeks and a little through 8-9 weeks and my baby is 9+6 now with a lovely little heartbeat and bum wiggle.

I think it was just everything stretching, I have the same symptoms (just milder) now although the back pain is because my other half has started taking up all the bed and I curl into an impossible fetal position which puts strain on my back.

@Londongirl87 @allgoodthings84 everything crossed all is well, no reason to believe it isn’t save for the crippling anxiety which I totally understand!

allgoodthings84 · 20/01/2023 08:57

@Londongirl87 I really hope yours goes well too 😊

@Firsttimemomma1 it’s because I’ve had 2 back to back early miscarriages/CPs before this pregnancy. In my head I’m struggling to believe it will be ok. I didn’t have any of these worries with my daughter as never had a miscarriage before her so it didn’t cross my mind even but she’s 7 now so I’m a lot older

Firsttimemomma1 · 20/01/2023 09:18

@allgoodthings84 I totally understand and I am sorry for your loss. I have everything crossed all is well xx

allgoodthings84 · 20/01/2023 09:22

@Firsttimemomma1 thank you 😊 fingers crossed we will all have healthy babies

laurapalmer22 · 20/01/2023 10:37

Good luck everyone who's having scans soon!

Things have been a bit hectic here this week, work-wise. Having previously been told by my client that they'd extend my contract with them, the company has decided to terminate all of their contractors because the business is not doing well and we're expensive. And so I'm having to find new work battling thundering headaches and extreme fatigue. Not fun!

Oh no that sounds so stressful.

I'm really suffering with constant nausea and fatigue. Have no energy to do anything. I might manage a couple of hours on my laptop in bed today but that's it.

I'm fed up of this now. It's frustrating as my first pregnancy wasn't anything like this!!

Scan next week which has come around quickly and still praying to the gods it's just one stork bag and and not two!!! Confused

Soopyjoopy · 20/01/2023 11:28

Scanxiety is a thing I'm sure. My boobs are still massive and really hurting and my nipples are on fire/itching.

Plus my emotions.......I cried at under cover boss ffs!!

Work wise I'm a nurse who stopped full time a cple years ago, however I'm a mh nurse working in crisis services and when pregnant I'm not allowed face to face working in that service due to the risks, however they have no obligation to find me work as I'm "bank only" so finding work and money is an issue, never mind smp after

@allgoodthings84 @Londongirl87
As far as scans go my 1st one baby measured 2 days behind, was 6mm however on Wed I'm 2 days ahead at 18mm!!! Try not to worry too much about size at this point the main thing is heartbeat, I still even now cant believe something 6mm has a heartbeat!!!

allgoodthings84 · 20/01/2023 11:33

@Soopyjoopy I read on another post this morning (on a pregnancy after miscarriage thread) that they had 2 scans on same day (because of the combined blood test change of mind) and they were 4 or 5 days difference! This combined with what you’ve just said will make me not pay too much attention if I’m dated a bit earlier than I am. I guess it’s one reason they wait until 12 weeks for nhs scan

Londongirl87 · 21/01/2023 11:44

Just had my early ultrasound, little baby is measuring 8+1 (exactly what my Flo app was telling me) with a strong heartbeat!

Feeling so relieved and it feels so real now!

allgoodthings84 · 21/01/2023 11:51

@Londongirl87 that’s great news I’m delighted for you! 😊 was yours abdominal or internal? I’ve got mine tomorrow and it will have been 9+1 since I ovulated (9+3 by my last period well it was a chemical). I’m hoping it will be abdominal as I don’t want to bleed as I’ll then be worried until my next scan. I have a sensitive cervix

Londongirl87 · 21/01/2023 12:54

@allgoodthings84 It was abnominal and like you, I prefer that! She found it straightaway, in less than 1 second :)

Londongirl87 · 21/01/2023 12:55

Abdominal, not abnominal!

allgoodthings84 · 21/01/2023 14:21

@Londongirl87 ahh that’s a relief hopefully will be all good for me too. Fingers crossed I can keep the liquid in šŸ˜‚ how much did you drink before?

If this is about drinking before a scan, I'd check with the hospital or local midwife. I had a scan at Kings in my last pregnancy and the guy asked me to empty my bladder before we started, which was a shame because I'd just downed a load of water on the way there because I thought that'd be best 🤣

allgoodthings84 · 21/01/2023 15:51

@froglou it’s a private scan 😊 the email says to drink 500ml-1 litre of water an hour before the scan I’m just hoping I can hold it in šŸ˜‚. My booking in appointment isn’t until I’m 10 weeks so thinking my scan will likely be more like 13 weeks and it’s a long time to wait after 2 early miscarriages/CPs and I’m around 9 weeks now but still really nervous

with my daughters 12 week scan I drank too much and had to release some and it was so bloody hard when you need to pee to only let a little out so don’t want that again ha ha.

Ally345 · 21/01/2023 16:26

Had an early scan this am at 7 weeks. All was ok thankfully, measuring exactly as 7 weeks, in the right place and heartbeat detected (although conscious it’s early for full reassurance, but really glad to have it just for now).

Re drinking water, I had about 2 x glasses about 30 mins before hand. It’s not as essential as a bladder scan (where you need to be full and as literally bursting) but rather having a close to half full bladder helps with visibility. I wouldn’t stress too much as long as you have some in there and you don’t need do be bursting.

Londongirl87 · 21/01/2023 16:44

Great news @Ally345 !!

@allgoodthings84 I drank 3 large glasses of water 1h before and with the cold + the bus, I was quite uncomfortable by the time I arrived there. Luckily the scan was quick and they were on time :)

chickpea1982 · 21/01/2023 18:36

Hi all. It's been a while since I posted, mainly because I've just been feeling so awful it's all I can do to go to work, deal with the kids, then collapse into bed! I've been reading all your posts though, which has really helped. I've had an almost constant headache for the past two weeks, and paracetamol just isn't cutting it. Even when I don't have the headache I just feel like I'm walking around like a zombie. Even normal pottering round the house tidying up leaves me really out of breath. I can't wait for the 2nd trimester!

I've also just booked a "Prenatal Safe 5" test and private scan for when I'm 10 weeks to check for downs syndrome (and a few other rare genetic disorders). I didn't bother with anything like this the last two times I was pregnant, but given my age I want to be sure. Apparently the test is 99.9% accurate, which is a lot better than the NHS tests.

Now 8 + 3 and counting down the days...

Londongirl87 · 22/01/2023 08:13

Good luck for today @allgoodthings84 !

Stargazer89 · 22/01/2023 08:29

Hi everyone,
Can I please join. i'm due end of August if all goes well. I have a 2.5 DD and have had 3 miscarriages since having her. I'm under the care of the EPU and had first reassurance scan 2 weeks ago that measured me behind so I thought it was all over but had follow up scan yesterday and baby has caught up and now matching my dates. 9 weeks tomorrow.

How long did it take for a midwife to contact you because I only filled in the referral form yesterday because I didn't want to jinx it. i'm also waiting to see if it's recommended that I have a CVS because my last miscarriage was due to a chromosome abnormality and on the later it said it might be required.

hope everyone is having a lovely weekend

Augustbabyy · 22/01/2023 11:34

Fantastic news @Londongirl87 and @Ally345

Good luck today @allgoodthings84
