Hi all,
obvs still very early days. I’m currently 4+4 and just trying to enjoy it really. Just wondering if anyone wanted to join me to share early symptoms, how you’re managing to hide symptoms, how you’ll reveal your pregnancy to loved ones etc. and all the other bits and bobs on this journey 🄰

My booking in appointment is 2 weeks tomorrow when I’ll be 10 weeks too @May94x

allgoodthings84 · 11/01/2023 19:26

I finally decided to book a private scan for the 22nd when I’ll be 9 weeks just to help put my mind at ease after 2 very early losses the 2 previous cycles

Owlgirl14 · 11/01/2023 19:40

@nic84 I understand the anxiety about your heart as I've had it a lot in the past and am on beta blockers to control tachycardia episodes. Just glad I can stay on my current medication as I was worried they would try and change it. I'm quite sensitive as just a change of brand gave me palpitations and funny extra beats and my watch was saying my heart was in Afib!

hereistopositiveenergy · 11/01/2023 19:42

I've a private scan Friday as it was the earliest date available when I was looking last night. By my LMP I'm 8W5 but I do think I ovulated later as I am irregular. Hoping to get some reassurance and also a rough idea of where I actually am. Completed my self referral to the maternity care too tonight so hopefully that progresses in the next few days with next steps/bookings etc.
My vomiting has subsided but the nausea has ramped up! Also the bloat! I was at work in a meeting all day yesterday and just felt but the end of it I wanted to undo my top button on my trousers haha!

Owlgirl14 · 11/01/2023 19:46

@allgoodthings84 My booking app is two weeks tomorrow too! I'll be 9+2 by then.

Looks like a few of us have got early booking appointments. I could have had one tomorrow but my husband couldn't make it and he really wants to come along. Is everyone else taking partners/husbands or going alone?

Good luck to those having early scans. I wasn't sure whether to have one but think I'll just wait until the 12 week scan unless there are any concerns in the meantime.

Doctor said it's positive that I've been feeling nauseous, having stomach pains/gas etc as shows high levels of hcg so that was reassuring.

Then today I've felt the best I have in a few weeks, although still off eating a proper meal in the evening but seem to be more hungry in the day than usual. It's a minefield with all the different symptoms isn't it!

allgoodthings84 · 11/01/2023 19:55

@Owlgirl14 I don’t think my partner will come and my ex husband didn’t come to midwife appointments with my daughter. I rarely saw any men in the waiting room. My daughter is 7 now though so maybe things have changed. They will likely ask him to leave the room at some point though as they as sensitive questions about domestic violence etc (they have to) and you have to be away from your partner during this part.

@hereistopositiveenergy I’ve felt bloated for the first time today. Makes the nausea feel worse.

laurapalmer22 · 11/01/2023 20:15

@Owlgirl14 My partner isn't coming along to the booking appointment but he wants to join all the scans and probably the important midwife appointments later on, to ask questions and be supportive.

I have my early scan this Monday at 7+2, mostly because if we know there's nothing there we won't waste another 4-5 weeks thinking there's something there.

Moni81 · 11/01/2023 20:28

6 weeks and 4 days and early pregnancy bloat started together with first gagging reflex and nausea, just as I thought I may skip it this time. Will see how bad it gets.

Not chance Im dragging my partner for appointments, I don't need him there. He will insist on 20 weeks scan though, I may let him lol

hereistopositiveenergy · 11/01/2023 20:37

@allgoodthings84 It defo makes it worse!

My DP is coming on Friday with me although he has said he will come to scan appointments but not chitchat one's as he's not the time to take from work. We've my DSD 8 so he's been through most the process if you like already - she lives with us fully & no contact with her mum and doesn't know yet as it's still so early but I think she's an inkling. Been very protective of me & cuddly this week especially and even asked what can she help me with round the house so I can 'have some rest' šŸ˜†

allgoodthings84 · 11/01/2023 20:45

Oh yes my partner will be at scans just not midwife. I think a lot of men don’t go to midwife as they are only legally entitled to 2 paid antenatal appointments so tend to choose the 2 scans.

FarmBaby3 · 11/01/2023 20:48

@Owlgirl14 my partner will come to the scans and maybe some later on when he can hear the heartbeat.

The midwife does have to check that you are safe at home so they may want some appointments with just you.

Booking in appointment is actually so boring. It's just them filling in loads of details. Health conditions, last smear, addresses, previous pregnancies, previous births etc. My first one took 20 minutes. My second one took nearly an hour.

Owlgirl14 · 11/01/2023 22:02

My husband has said he wants to be at every appointment bless him. Maybe he'll get bored after the first one and won't bother with anymore šŸ˜‚

I was told it would last an hour and half as there's a lot of paperwork to fill in.

Nypie · 12/01/2023 00:10

@May94x I've also had symptoms come and go and come again..its been getting me a bit down today but I know it happens I just need to be patient, going to get a scan booked for 7 weeks for a bit of reassurance.

Its our first bub so dp would like to come to the booking I think it will make it more real for him to be included though it will be boring.

Has anyone felt sick but not nauseas, I feel like nausea is when you're about to throw up mine is more before that like a bubbly feeling in the stomach...indigestion maybe šŸ˜‚

Firsttimemomma1 · 12/01/2023 06:21

@Owlgirl14 my partner is the same. He wants to come to everything and even sat there for an hour and a half at the booking appointment which was the most boring thing ever for me so I can only imagine what it was like for him.

He can come to whatever appointments he wants, I’m lucky he wants to be so involved.

I have my next scan on 19th and it can’t come quick enough. Should be 9w 5d then. I just cannot relax until I am out of the first trimester. Really struggling with the anxiety of pregnancy loss even though I have no specific reason to believe it would happen other than Mother Natures selection. I’m sure it’s natural but seem to be living my life day by day at the moment which is making time go soooooooo slow.

Mountainview8 · 12/01/2023 13:19

I haven't had vomiting yet, but I had two dreams last night about being sick, so I wonder if it's a sign of what's to come šŸ˜‚

I have my booking appointment in 2 weeks when I'll be around 9 weeks, they said they do it at 8-10 weeks.
I've booked a private scan for next week at 7 weeks to see if everything is OK šŸ¤ž

Owlgirl14 · 12/01/2023 13:43

@Firsttimemomma1 Glad I'm not the only one, my husband wants to come to them all too. He was quite upset when my original app was on a day he couldn't make but I asked them to let me know of any cancellations and soon after they did.

It's really nice he wants to be involved and is being very supportive.

I hadn't planned to have kids but was going to start thinking about it next year as I'm nearly 36. But I've said it's probably best it's just happened so I don't overthink it all and say no. He's over the moon and very excited which has helped me try to get my head around it all.

Only downside is I was focusing on my career this year and there is a potential work opportunity but these things take time and also a good external opportunity has come up but again can't really commit knowing I'd be going on maternity leave shortly after.

ClaBro1 · 12/01/2023 14:02

Is anyone else feeling a lot of strange pulling sensations? I keep worrying it’s cramping it doesn’t feel the same and no spotting or anything. Gosh the first trimester anxiety is so bad. So wish I could relax and enjoy it.

Londongirl87 · 12/01/2023 14:06

@ClaBro1 I have been having pulling sensations and light cramps (similar to period cramps but that don't last more than 10-20 seconds) since I found out I was pregnant. They mostly happen when I am in one position for a long time and I move out of it (ie: If I am working for hours and then stand, or on the sofa then go for a walk etc)

I asked my GP if this was normal and she told me that I long as there is no bleeding and that the cramps don't last, it is probably just my body stretching and getting ready for my womb which is growing, despite the baby still being very small.

I hope this reassures you :-)

Cat1424 · 12/01/2023 14:12

@ClaBro1 I’ve been having some sharp cramps down both sides, sort of in between hip bones and where the womb would be, last a couple of minutes each time. I mentioned them at my booking appointment and the midwife said as long as you don’t need pain relief for them or they last a long time then not to worry.

ClaBro1 · 12/01/2023 14:17

@Cat1424 @Londongirl87 thank you for the reassurance. Yes mine don’t last long at all, seconds and no need for painkillers. I think after a MMC in September I am over analysing everything. I don’t have my booking in until 9th feb, when I’ll be 10/11 weeks!

Firsttimemomma1 · 12/01/2023 14:54

@Owlgirl14 thats lovely to hear he’s so supportive :)

To be honest, I wasn’t expecting to conceive so quickly after we started trying as I was told with PCOS and the meds they put me on, it would take up to three months for the meds to kick in to regulate ovulation. I didn’t have a period and within one month of going on the meds I got my BFT, in the middle of the carribean after making the most of the all inclusive cocktail menu may I add haha!! So this year was my work year too whilst the meds did their thing - I was supposed to second to Singapore and the British Virgin Islands for 6 months but have had to obviously turn that down. I’m also due for my promotion (which has semi been promised) the month before I go on maternity leave and I hope my bosses aren’t ruthless enough to postpone promoting me because I won’t be there. Every little helps with the maternity pay so the promotion would really do good. I don’t have the worst maternity policy but I’ve heard of places with better.

How far are you? Xxx

Owlgirl14 · 12/01/2023 16:55

@Firsttimemomma1 It is, he probably doesn't believe his luck as I've always said no šŸ˜‚

I didn't expect it either, it was literally one night and that's all it took surprisingly. Didn't expect that at my age as all you hear is fertility declines and it gets more difficult.

Can't wait to see everyone's shocked faces though when I tell them as they just won't expect it!

It's a shame isn't it that we have to put our promotions and job opportunities on hold! Hoping my potential promotion comes though and gets sorted before I go on maternity leave.

Owlgirl14 · 12/01/2023 17:22

@Firsttimemomma1 Sorry forgot to say I'm 7+2. How about you x

Soopyjoopy · 12/01/2023 17:41

@Firsttimemomma1
Not sure if you've seen my intro? I have pcos diagnosed years ago, we tried for around 10 years including ivf but either didnt take or I v sadly also had 3 mc's.
We decided to foster children having around 35 ish in total, we ended up adopting a new born we'd fostered at 3 days.I decided not to return to work after my adoption leave and within 2 months nearly 40 I was pregnant!!

Now, 41, nearly 42 here I am!

Londongirl87 · 12/01/2023 17:59

This is an amazing story @Soopyjoopy , so happy for you!

For us it was also a ā€˜surprise’ since we have been trying for a long time and were diagnosed with male factor infertility.

We did tons of exams throughout autumn and we were waiting for my December period to start, for our first cycle of fertility treatment. Period which never came since I tested positive on the 19th of December!

It was our last cycle trying naturally and I couldn’t believe it when I saw the positive test
