Hi all,
obvs still very early days. I’m currently 4+4 and just trying to enjoy it really. Just wondering if anyone wanted to join me to share early symptoms, how you’re managing to hide symptoms, how you’ll reveal your pregnancy to loved ones etc. and all the other bits and bobs on this journey 🄰

I received today letter with midwife booking appointment at 8 weeks, even though gp receptionist told me first midwife appointment is at 16 weeks I don't remember from previous pregnancies if there is any difference with midwife appointments.

NP2705 · 06/01/2023 19:18

@Ellenn I’m so sorry to hear this. Sending love

NP2705 · 06/01/2023 19:19

I was just wondering if anyone has had mild pain right in the groin area on one side? I’m 6 weeks today and think the nausea might be kicking in

laurapalmer22 · 06/01/2023 19:41

@Moni81 My booking appointment is scheduled for when I'm exactly 7 weeks. I think they've based it on my LMP date but I have long cycles so they wouldn't know I'll only be 7 weeks. It would've been 8 weeks if my cycles were average length.

@NP2705 Yeah, I've had it come and go for a couple of weeks now. I have it on both sides but only one at a time, very mild and fleeting. Feels like it's all part of the uterus stretching and developing.

Moni81 · 06/01/2023 19:47

Np I had those stretching feeling, tummy tightening, feeling pressure down my uterus and even snap sharp pains between 4-5 weeks, it settled for now. I think it comes and goes at different stages of pregnancy.

Owlgirl14 · 06/01/2023 20:05

@NP2705 I had a few cramps in my left lower abdomen today and then some sharp pains in my upper right side just below my ribs. I just assume it's my uterus growing

My headache and nausea seemed to have eased today. I've had it for the past week or so but does seem strange then not having the symptoms. Just glad of some relief from it and being able to eat some tea for the first time in a few days.

Soopyjoopy · 06/01/2023 20:19

@NP2705
Ive had some cramping, some pinching, bit of period feelings, nothing that hurts, makes me move position at times. Comes and goes.

@laurapalmer22
My cycles are long, anything from 32-40 days, I told them how many weeks I was based on conception + 2w rather than telling them my lmp. I did same last time as it frustrated me they kept saying things about foetus before he was even conceived
At my dating scan I was dead on right, to the day

Maybe it depends on where you live? My friend told me her booking appointment was at the same time as the scan. How long did it take people to get the booking appointment after they filled in the online form?

Firsttimemomma1 · 06/01/2023 20:32

@Moni81 @Purpleunicorn35 my booking appt was last week, it took approximately 2 weeks from self referring online.

I googled pregnancy registration in my area ie. Pregnancy registration Doncaster and it came up with how to do it all.

Had my 7 week scan today and measuring ahead at 7w 4d, little bubba actually looked like a bubba and seeing the heartbeat again was amazing. Crazy how much they grow in a week.

Was that a private scan at 7 weeks?
Trying to decide what week to have an earlier private scan.

Moni81 · 06/01/2023 20:41

Purpleunicorn I just filled up pregnancy form at GP last Friday and today received booking appointment letter from hospital. Still waiting for my scan appointment letter or maybe they give me date at midwife appointment, not sure.

Firsttimemomma1 · 06/01/2023 20:48

@Purpleunicorn35 yes it was. I had one scan when I first found out at the EPAU which had me at about 5w 5days and then I had another scan the week after at the EPAU which had me at 6w on the nose so a little earlier than we thought.

Reasons for the scans were because I have PCOS and I don’t have periods so trying to calculate when I ovulated was impossible and I needed measurements.

Ive now scared myself silly with the Googling so booked a private scan for today which would have been a week after the last one and she has me measuring later than we thought at 7w 4d. Worth every penny in my opinion, the NHS 12w scan is far too long, especially if you’re anxious like me.

I used Window to the Womb and they were incredibly professional and value for money. Paid £80 and I believe they are nationwide.

Firsttimemomma1 · 06/01/2023 20:50

@Moni81 where I live you have the booking apt and at that apt the midwife sends off loads of info about you to the necessary team and you get your scan letter through the post shortly after.

The booking app goes into all your medical history etc so that the scan team get a better idea how far along you are etc. they also use this info to check if you need any additional tests on baby or if you need to be put under a consultant for any pre-existing issues. They also send off for your certificate for free prescriptions at this point and that came back for me within a day.

obviously this is just where I live though so may change wherever you are.

A bit of moan....woke up today feeling completely rotten. My mouth feels like sandpaper with scratchy throat, had to drink half litre of fluid right away even though I was thinking water through the night. My nose was blocked, and still have uncomfortable feeling in lower back, feels like I need poop lol do you have any suggestions on what will make me go. Normally it would be strong brewed coffee but I can't stand it right now.

Some fresh orange juice?

I had a constant feeling of heaviness from my bellybutton to my thighs. The whole area just feels heavy and my back aches. Maybe should have sorted out my core before getting pregnant!
