Hi all,
obvs still very early days. I’m currently 4+4 and just trying to enjoy it really. Just wondering if anyone wanted to join me to share early symptoms, how you’re managing to hide symptoms, how you’ll reveal your pregnancy to loved ones etc. and all the other bits and bobs on this journey 🄰

@Owlgirl14 I only fancy sweet things but only bland salty things help the nausea (for a short time). Salt & vinegar crisps or rice cakes. It was the same when I was pregnant with my daughter. I was never actually sick it was constant nausea until 20 weeks odd

allgoodthings84 · 05/01/2023 20:15

I’ve tried ginger biscuits and although they taste lovely they aren’t helping the nausea

allgoodthings84 · 05/01/2023 20:16

I think vitamins can make pregnancy nausea worse too so I’m going to switch to boots own as they have ginger in them and the reviews comment on how they don’t make you feel as sick

ClaBro1 · 05/01/2023 20:25

I’ve been trying to eat smaller meals and often. It’s really hit and miss though. Last night I was sick during quite a bland but tonight I managed to eat salmon, rice and veg which is weird! I’ve been snacking on fruit and ginger nuts. Oh and tonnes of water!

ClaBro1 · 05/01/2023 20:25

I mean quite a bland dinner

Tigermilk1 · 05/01/2023 20:30

@Cat1424

Thank you, that's really reassuring!

Thank you and congrats to you too! Hopefully soon it'll be a little less scary and we'll be able to enjoy it more! :)

Tigermilk1 · 05/01/2023 20:33

@Soopyjoopy it does actually affect your period cycles due to inflammation! Your intuition might be right haha

Soopyjoopy · 05/01/2023 21:24

@allgoodthings84

Omg the last trimester especially. And the day I gave birth omg, I was glugging it like no tomorrow, then I suddenly felt really sick, projectile vomitted minty sicky gaviscon everywhere as I threw up the pressure burst my waters and the contraction was horrendous!! I suddenly needed to push, hub drove me to hospital and he was born within 45 mins!!!!! I still cant bear the smell of gaviscon!!!

Soopyjoopy · 05/01/2023 21:26

Yes I am the person who got in car to hospital when pushing even tho they say dont!! Was 9cm on arrival and 10 within 10 mins!!

cinnamonbiscuit · 05/01/2023 22:27

I had kind of forgotten how bad the sickness is and now I’m living in dread of the next two months or so. Does anyone else have to run to the toilet and sit there throwing up bile for half an hour as soon as they’re awake followed by near constant nausea all day? Not sure how I’m going to deal with doing this outside of lockdown- last time I was furloughed so it didn’t matter šŸ˜…

Nik84 · 05/01/2023 22:38

I haven’t had any nausea yet and it wasn’t bad with my previous pregnancies. I’m hoping I bypass it again. The cramping I had yesterday has eased a lot today thankfully. I can already feel a small bump and I’m only 6+2. I’m not sure how long I’ll be able to keep it a secret šŸ˜‚ With my first I had a bump like this at 20 weeks, I don’t think you could tell I was pregnant until about 6 months!

chilliflakesmum · 05/01/2023 23:19

@Ally345 congratulations!! And lovely there's three of us due on the same day 🄰
@Purpleunicorn35 I had a scan at 8 weeks with my first and it was so reaasuring, would recommend it. Will be having one again this time round too. 12 weeks is a long time to wait šŸ˜„

Re the heartburn - Omeprazole was my best friend last time and as soon as I get my maternity certificate for free perscriptions, I'll be getting some again!

Owlgirl14 · 05/01/2023 23:49

@nic84 I'm 6+2 as well. Seems like you were lucky last time. Nausea started for me about a week ago and today has been the worst so far. I tend to get a headache first too.

Owlgirl14 · 05/01/2023 23:53

@allgoodthings84 Thanks, I've got some crackers, ritz and bread for toast. Hoping the nausea doesn't last that long for me, don't think I could cope with it.

Soopyjoopy · 06/01/2023 02:45

6+2 over here, last time I had a little nausea, I think I was sick once (its what made me take a test as I got painkillers for dislocated knee and threw them straight back up, they x rayed me said "no chance of pregnancy" I thought ooohhhhh shit!!) However it worried me as I had v few symptoms and at my 12 week bloods and tests my hcg was low to normal, this made my anxieties crazy as no symptoms, low hcg, was convinced something would go wrong!!

Ally345 · 06/01/2023 09:14

@Purpleunicorn35 I am in South London.
Am also thinking to do the early scan to help understand where we are and (hopefully) ease anxiety!
Glad the chicken nuggets helped. I am drinking loads of water and eating dry crackers when the nausea strikes, so far, manageable

elliew818 · 06/01/2023 09:25

It’s salt and vinegar crisp sandwiches for me with fresh orange juice and lemonade! Not very healthy so hopefully I can eat a vegetable or two soon!
Also I found every pregnancy vitamin gave me diarrhoea and made my nausea worse except for seven seas which contains ginger so would recommend those

Ellenn · 06/01/2023 10:00
