Hi all,
obvs still very early days. I’m currently 4+4 and just trying to enjoy it really. Just wondering if anyone wanted to join me to share early symptoms, how you’re managing to hide symptoms, how you’ll reveal your pregnancy to loved ones etc. and all the other bits and bobs on this journey 🄰

Good luck today @Morag202287
@Moni81 im exactly the same as you. One test was enough (and pricey!) . I’m nervous about the future , job security etc but not about the actual pregnancy so much.

i totally understand why those of you who are testing frequently would want to, but try and not get too stressed. I think stress can lead to health issues in its own right and so taking vitamins and trying to focus on other things might be the best thing you can be doing .

How is everyone doing today?

I just like seeing progression on tests. I am a lover of statistics. This is the first time we have used OPKs and IC pregnancy tests. I can see how people can get sucked in and obsessed with them.

laurapalmer22 · 05/01/2023 15:53

I did 5 tests over the course of 2 weeks, just because when I first tested positive I wanted to buy two other types of tests (Clearblue and cheapies) to compare results and they all came in twin packs. Have really resisted the urge to test since because it'll just mess with my head. šŸ™ˆ

Hi ladies - just found this group. Got my positive test on 23rd Dec and think I'm now 5w 1d!

Have had a rough couple of weeks as the day after my test I ended up in hospital with a blocked liver (I've had previous issues) - I'm still here and have had to go through an MRI and a procedure for a stent that used both x-ray and sedation. I didn't really have a choice as I was so ill but I'm slightly terrified. I've had some spotting but this nugget seems to have weathered an incredible storm so far.

We've been trying a year and I just can't believe the timing but I believe this is the positive in all the negative. Hoping they hang on and I can stay on this journey with you all.

Oh wow. Congratulations. What a start to your journey. Have the team around you talked about the effects when pregnant?

jalu47 · 05/01/2023 16:00

@FarmBaby3 I was told the risk of miscarriage would increase and one of the drugs I had there is an increase chance of cleft palate. Use of x-ray is harder to quantify and certainly not ideal but I'm in such good hands here - I kind of had to surrender myself to them and say do what you need to do. I also have a 2 year old to think about who needs a well mummy!

Owlgirl14 · 05/01/2023 16:28

@jalu47 Wow sounds like you've had a rough journey so far. Will keep my fingers crossed for you x

Owlgirl14 · 05/01/2023 16:34

@FarmBaby3 The headaches and nausea have kicked in more the last few days. Although not sure when I'm hungry or nauseous so trying to eat little and often through the day.

How are you doing?

Soopyjoopy · 05/01/2023 16:58

@Owlgirl14 @FarmBaby3

My nausea and wretching is definitely worse when I'm hungry, however thats followed by an aversion to nearly everything I go to think about eating so not great!! I had cheesy beans on toast today, not had them in about 15 years!!

Notmulan · 05/01/2023 17:25

@Owlgirl14 I’m not sure if anyone answered your previous question . Your pregnancy date is calculated from the first day of your last period. So the first two weeks of ā€œpregnancyā€ you’re not yet pregnant.. just a twinkle in your husbands eye (as my mum used to say).

so my due date is the 2nd and I’m 5 weeks and 5 days pregnant. Just a sesame seed! On Saturday I’ll be entering my 6th week and so on

my changeover day is a Saturday as the first day of my last period was a Saturday

Nypie · 05/01/2023 17:55

Sorry if this has already been covered but when did/will everyone make their referral to the midwife?

Everything crossed for you @Ellenn

And also glad to hear I'm not the only crazy stick lady. And glad we're not all giving our money over to clear blue and the like. I enjoy watching the progress and as I caught covid 2 days before my bfp I'm a bit concerned for my odds!

Owlgirl14 · 05/01/2023 18:00

@Notmulan Thank you, I'm happy with the dates and how it works from your last period. I just had one app telling me it's now the size of a blueberry and another saying 6 weeks is a grain of rice so it's confusing me slightly. I'm 6 weeks 2 days x

FarmBaby3 · 05/01/2023 18:01

@Owlgirl14 @Soopyjoopy I had HG when pregnant with my daughter and nothing shifted it until 16 weeks when it vanished. With my son I had no sickness but I used to have a biscuit in bed before getting up.

My headaches keep coming and going. My mind is a muddle. Did I take vitamins this morning??

Moni81 · 05/01/2023 18:02

Nypie I was also very sick with flu just before my period was due, taking paracetamol and ibuprofen like candies as nothing was really helping much. Actually I put my late period initially on that sickness, same as going off coffee. I think we will be fine, don't worry too much.

Soopyjoopy · 05/01/2023 18:04

They said that covid vaccines affected fertility.....i had mine and in 3 weeks after 15 years of infertility I was pregnant!!!! Obvs I'm not saying thats what it was but I like to be different :)

Owlgirl14 · 05/01/2023 18:05

@Soopyjoopy yes my nausea is definitely worse when hungry. I started off with it on a morning for about half hour to an hour but today it's been on and off most the day.

Just feel like I'm constantly hungry/nauseous/eating small amounts.

That sounds yummy! I used to always eat cheese on toast when I was little. I had an egg may sandwich yesterday and it was lush. Although it did cause bloating in the evening and I couldn't eat much of my tea. Finding it difficult to balance what to eat and when at the moment.

Also counting calories and I'm hitting under 1,300 a day which surely isn't enough!

Owlgirl14 · 05/01/2023 18:08

@Nypie I haven't done mine yet, couldn't find my hospital online to do a referral.

I have a docs app next week when I'll be 7 weeks so they should let me know what's happening or if I need to do anything.

Nypie · 05/01/2023 18:09

Cheers @Moni81 thats reassuring!

Nypie · 05/01/2023 18:12

@Owlgirl14 thanks for the reply. ts good you have a drs appointment and being 6 weeks already must be nice. I have 3 hospitals to choose from and I honestly don't know how to make that choice this early, maybe next week when it feels more real!

Ally345 · 05/01/2023 18:22

Hi all, okay if I join?
I just tested positive last week and due 13th of Sept too @Purpleunicorn35 @chilliflakesmum
I am 36 and this is my first so really have no idea what to expect.
For now, just grateful for each day that passes and hoping this works out. But also finding it hard not to worry about every little cramp and thing I might do wrong

DandelionPockets · 05/01/2023 18:34

Catching up with everything! Finally over my cold so back into the real world šŸ˜‚...and MN.

Sorry to hear about the couple of people worried with bleeding, I hope you get the scans and reassurance quickly and everything works out well.

@Ally345 congratulations! I'm 34 and it's my first too, one big adventure!

@Nypie I just called my GP at about 5+4 and they booked me a midwife appointment for week 10 (earliest they had) to happen there with the midwife. But seems like that's not the norm and a lot of people have to self refer to the midwife unit.

Something like 6+3 for me today. I'm just really sleepy and slightly nauseous all the time. Still quite sore boobs and bloated. Just trying to get on with things and stay busy tbh. Really really want to tell people but I'm going to wait until a bit further along. Feel a little bit deceitful with work (which is mad and I need to stop feeling like that!) because we're planning the 2023 projects and I'm just thinking about me hopefully not being there for a good portion of this year and the next but nodding along like 'yes, I think that's fine for Q4' šŸ˜

Welcome Ally. More September 13th babies. Where abouts are you? I'm in Sussex.
I've accepted I'm going to wake up every night nauseous and finding lemonade helps. Today I treated myself to chicken nuggets from McDonald's as had a craving. We're thinking about an early scan 8/9 weeks for peace of mind and mainly so I can settle myself that's it's not twins!

Me too re work. We had a meeting yesterday and I was thinking to myself how it's a countdown to a work break :) did feel naughty and secret 🤫

DandelionPockets · 05/01/2023 18:42

@Purpleunicorn35 yeah! And I'm thinking am i giving myself away or anything. Think I need to relax a bit.

allgoodthings84 · 05/01/2023 20:11

Eugghhh I forgot about the heartburn. The only other time I’ve had consultant heartburn was when I was pregnant with my daughter. I remember gulping gaviscon out of the bottle

Owlgirl14 · 05/01/2023 20:11

Can I ask what people are eating or finding helpful with nausea.

First day I've not fancied any tea and just having some toast.
