Hi all,
obvs still very early days. I’m currently 4+4 and just trying to enjoy it really. Just wondering if anyone wanted to join me to share early symptoms, how you’re managing to hide symptoms, how you’ll reveal your pregnancy to loved ones etc. and all the other bits and bobs on this journey 🄰

@Morag202287 i also have the obsession with testing 🤣 I swear the companies must make all their money on a small proportion of the population who are serial pregnancy testers!

Ellenn · 05/01/2023 07:37

@FarmBaby3 after the heavy bleeding on Tuesday night it basically just stopped and then yesterday hardly anything. Nothing this morning. Wondering if that was the miscarriage, it was very quick! I’m going to phone my EPU this morning as they said to cancel my scan next week if I think I miscarried but realised I do need to know as I’m on medication as it was an embryo transfer… so I’m hoping they will still let me get a scan to confirm

hope everyone else doing ok and no more scares like me, I really thought after years trying to get pregnant I would be so happy if it worked but it’s just not 😄

at least if it was a miscarriage it was nice to see the wee heartbeat that day 🄰 pretty gutting though knowing if I’ve lost it we are unlikely to have a baby this year certainly x

That sounds so stressful. I hope they do let you have the scan. Would the medication stop you then shedding the lining?

Morag202287 · 05/01/2023 07:45

@Ellenn I'm so sorry you are going through this worry. I hope you're ok. I wouldn't cancel it just keep it and get checked over Mrs, especially if the bleeding has stopped with all my mcs the bleeding is heavy full on for atleast a week to 10 days. As far as I know it wouldn't just last one or 2 days.
Each time you really do hope this will be the one, i know how scary and disheartening it is. They shouldn't be saying cancel if you think you mc imo, I would keep as it has stopped love and get checked. Praying for you xx

Ellenn · 05/01/2023 07:49

@FarmBaby3 unsure I have been told you are more likely to bleed when on the medication. We are supposed to take until 12 weeks when the placenta takes over hormone production. I just don’t want to continue the medication incase it does delay the miscarriage passing properly, but also don’t want to stop it until I have confirmation of my suspicions … so feel a bit stuck šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø

Would love if my EPU could scan me before Tuesday just so I know what’s happening it’s horrible waiting!

Ellenn · 05/01/2023 07:53

@Morag202287 thanks really appreciate your thoughts. I’ve miscarried at 5 weeks before and bled for 4/5 days so it is weird how it only lasted a few hours but was super heavy (and I’m just over 6 wks) I will definitely try and push them to keep my scan if they will allow it xx

NP2705 · 05/01/2023 07:57

@Ellenn im so sorry you are going through this. Just wanted to say that when I had a missed miscarriage in September the EPU insisted I come back for a scan even after the bleeding had stopped so they could check everything had passed. Hopefully your EPU can do the same to give you peace of mind even if the worst has happened!

Morag202287 · 05/01/2023 07:58

@Ellenn Tuesday will feel so long away hun. Just keep a wee note of everything. I know today felt so long for me at the start of the week. Try and rest, don't do anything to heavy. I have had brown on wiping every other day since Xmas eve and I'm just glad that this time it's not turned to what I've been used too. 2pm cannot come quick enough however I am going in with both outcomes in my head to mentally prepare. Xx

Morag202287 · 05/01/2023 08:02

@Ellenn I feel your pain Mrs, when you've exp3rienced loss at these weeks it's hard. I get it. I know everything you are thinking and feeling. Yes a few hrs you will know is different that's why I am surprised they are saying to cancel but just don't, just tell them you bled for a few hours and that's it, that certainly shouldn't be a cause to cancel the scan. Each of mine never made it to a 6 week scan other than the ectopic in Sept, I got checked was bleeding heavy at that point they said right possible mc, took bloods that day monitored every 48hrs for a full week scanned a week later and boom oh wait you've not mc its ectopic, it wasn't showing on the scan the week before just goes to show doesn't it. My previous ones it was a case of test in a week yourself , if they had done that to me that time in Sept it could have been so much worse but thank god it was caught although once it had ruptured straight into surgery.

allgoodthings84 · 05/01/2023 08:11

@Ellenn if it’s progesterone you’re on then I’ve seen that it can stop or slow bleeding with a miscarriage but it can also help stop a miscarriage from properly happening so I would carry on taking medication and there’s no reason why they shouldn’t scan you after 6 weeks with bleeding. If they say no ring GP for a referral to them. If still no joy is it a possibility to get a private one? I would not be giving up without a scan as bleeding can happen for all different reasons it doesn’t mean definitely miscarriage and this doesn’t sound like it is really

Ellenn · 05/01/2023 08:12

@Morag202287 that sounds so scary! Luckily the scan on Tuesday confirmed not ectopic so at least I don’t have to worry about that! Will keep trying to get through to EPU today šŸ¤ž are you getting a scan today? Good luck I hope it all goes well šŸ™ it is so nice seeing the heartbeat flickering on the screen!

@NP2705 thats good to hear they wanted to scan! I thought it was odd that they wanted me to cancel if I miscarried, I know 6 wks isn’t that far along but I think you can sometimes retain tissue?

Ellenn · 05/01/2023 08:17

@allgoodthings84 yes I’m on both progesterone and oestrogen medication! I’m tempted to get a private one if they won’t scan me on Tuesday so I know what’s happened. Just hoping they will still do it if I mention if I should continue medication or not.

thanks for everyone’s support, feels so lonely when no one else knows what’s going on, really appreciate it xxx

Morag202287 · 05/01/2023 08:19

@Ellenn , yeah I just mean with your bleeding they should still want to scan you Mrs. I hope you go ahead with it and nothing else happens. Yeah my scan is today, it's all because of my history, and I was told last Monday a cyst on my ovary and pocket of fluid so they are making sure of things. Plus I had pain but not now, but she said I clearly know my body as the pain I called with was right where they cyst and fluid were. All they saw at 5 wks was that and thickened lining so I hope given I have not had my bleeding sorts that we see something positive. I think as well to rule out ectopic again. I'll update after the scan so yous know. Xx

Ellenn · 05/01/2023 08:21

@Morag202287 please update us! I hope it all goes well for you, just agonising waiting for these things isn’t it xx

Morag202287 · 05/01/2023 08:29

@Ellenn it definitely is!. Its sad that it takes away the joy of finding out, losses replace excitement and future thoughts with worry and anxiety. Unfortunately it's just something I can't change like many others. But this time feels that wee tiny bit different and there is that glimmer of hope. We have tried for years, I don't know if it was just my body, we never done ivf, each time an appt came through to discuss I would find out I was pregnant how strange !! Even tho they didn't work out. Hope you have a stress free day Ellen. And I'll be sure to post later with whatever happens. ā£ļø

allgoodthings84 · 05/01/2023 08:36

@Ellenn definitely don’t stop those until you have a scan and know more as might not be a miscarriage.

@Morag202287 good luck for today. I know if I have any bleeding at all now I’m 7 weeks I’ll be insisting on a scan after my history. I hate how it takes the excitement and shine out of what should be a happy and exciting time

Ellenn · 05/01/2023 08:38

@Ellenn exactly how I feel about everything! EPU just confirmed they will move my scan to tomorrow morning so I will know what’s happening.

I hope this is the time for you, and your scan goes well xxx

Morag202287 · 05/01/2023 08:43

@allgoodthings84 it does definitely just can't be helped really. Xx

Morag202287 · 05/01/2023 08:45

@Ellenn oh brilliant glad your scan is being brought forward. You'll know what's going on soon enough, hopefully good news Mrs xx

Firsttimemomma1 · 05/01/2023 09:46

Good luck today @Morag202287 - thinking of you and everything crossed xxx

Morag202287 · 05/01/2023 10:38

@Firsttimemomma1 thank you šŸ’—xx

Notmulan · 05/01/2023 10:40

Good luck today @Morag202287
@Moni81 im exactly the same as you. One test was enough (and pricey!) . I’m nervous about the future , job security etc but not about the actual pregnancy so much.

i totally understand why those of you who are testing frequently would want to, but try and not get too stressed. I think stress can lead to health issues in its own right and so taking vitamins and trying to focus on other things might be the best thing you can be doing .

Cat1424 · 05/01/2023 10:57

@Tigermilk1 Congratulations!

On contacting the GP/ hearing back it seems to depend where you live. I called my doctors on 13th December and got my letter for my booking appointment 2 days ago, but it’s only next week, so took about 3 weeks for us to hear back. Don’t worry they will come back to you!

Im 30 and it’s my first pregnancy too so like you I was panicking but it’s all good!

elliew818 · 05/01/2023 12:07

@Owlgirl14 I’ve been taking paracetamol, a midwife once told me don’t suffer where you don’t have to so I’ve been following that advice!
@allgoodthings84 interesting to hear that perspective. Back in 2018 one of my friends had a girl in august and another had a boy in august and you could really tell the difference in their readiness for school and how quickly they’ve developed. I know it sounds a bit stereotypical but girls do tend to develop more quickly at that age in my experience.
good luck for today @Morag202287, hope is all ok for you
@Ellenn have you had a look at subchorionic hematomas online? I had a huge bleed with my DS2 at 11 weeks and was convinced I’d MC’d. Don’t want to give false hope or anything but there is a chance. Hopefully you’ll get answers tomorrow x
I got a call to follow up my self referral today, waiting for bloods to be booked when I get the form in the post and midwife appointment is 6th feb, when I’ll (hopefully!!!) be 10 and a bit weeks. Feels a bit scary now it’s becoming more real!

cinnamonbiscuit · 05/01/2023 12:23

@Soopyjoopy really glad to hear your bleeding has stopped! I just had my first morning sitting in the loo throwing up, it’s started at roughly the same time as my previous pregnancy. Not enjoyable but at least it’s reassuring 🫠
@allgoodthings84 I think you’ve got a good point there, don’t think I’ll be able to have sex either for a few weeks because I know the anxiety any bleeding afterwards would cause would send me over the edge!

Owlgirl14 · 05/01/2023 13:39

@elliew818 Thank you, I don't normally take tablets unless I really need to but the headache was just constant the other day and some relief would have been nice.

Good luck to those going to scans in the next few days. Hoping all is ok for you x
