@Bobduncan I did that course with my first too. I found the 5 senses stuff helpful in early labour and all the BRAIN stuff helpful for decision-making in the run up to labour too, especially around induction. My husband said he found it really useful in understanding what his role was, rather than feeling like a spare part.

Place marking

ChristmasJumpers · 22/11/2022 07:17

If anyone is looking for a hypnobirthing online course, "The Birth Uprising" have a black friday offer of 50% off with code BLACKFRIDAY

I've never done a course so can't compare it to others but at that price I have booked it and will hope for the best!

Rose429 · 22/11/2022 14:23

First time mum and I’m overwhelmed with travel systems, car seat, push chair, pram the whole thing etc. Any recommendation for a travel system or a combo of things to buy that is going to be sustainable and not too expensive?

FYI we’re currently living in a small flat but can potentially move to a small house when baby is 6 months old. We live in a small city and use our 4 seater car for transportation.

TeddyBeans · 22/11/2022 15:16

@Rose429 I got a silvercross travel system last time but it depends what you're looking for. If you're going to spend most of your time in the car it might be worth looking for just a carseat, sling them until they're able to sit up and then get a stroller?

We got the Uppababy Vista V2 travel system, but if you’re looking for something cheaper and with smaller wheels, maybe look at Cybex travel systems?

Babynum2 · 22/11/2022 16:20

@Rose429 I got the ickle bubba stomp travel system with my last and I absolutely loved it brilliant buggy everything you need and decent price.

Babynum2 · 22/11/2022 16:21

I have a doona this time because we the car everywhere and hardly used our buggy Last time it seemed like a waste of money so learnt from my mistakes. I also have a stroller for him to go into at 6 months because they are just so much easier than big bulky buggies.

Dreamingof3 · 22/11/2022 16:23

@Rose429 I've had infababy travel systems for this baby and my last too. Gone for a bigger model this time but the last one we had we were in a flat and it was fine space wise.
The other thing I'd consider is if you need a car seat that you can remove from the car. I actually prefer to have a seat that stays fixed in the car! And then just move the baby 😂

havanamama · 22/11/2022 16:53

Has anyone had any baby health scares?
I had reduced movement the other day and ended up in the day unit being checked out and thankfully there’s a healthy heart beat. The worry though was crazy

Ubbee · 22/11/2022 18:36

Bobduncan · 21/11/2022 18:18

I've signed upto the positive birthing companies hypnobirthing course. I don't think I'll identify with a lot of it, but I'm hoping the biology side and breathing techniques will help! Has anyone else previously completed this course for their previous DCs?

I did this too with my first and would definitely recommend. I feel like the name is off putting but the content is really good.
The breathing techniques are so useful and I also used their app whilst I was at home and with them made it to 9cm without anything else by the time we got to hospital so will definitely be refreshing this time around!

Ubbee · 22/11/2022 18:37

@havanamama sorry to hear that! Sounds terrifying.
Whenver I start to worry about movements I always end up getting some reassuring kicks if I can chill for half an hour or so, so haven’t had to go in

TeddyBeans · 22/11/2022 18:53

I had a day last week where I hadn't felt her all morning and the night before was a bit quiet too but as soon as I mentioned it to my boss she started up. They're sent to try us from the moment they're conceived!

I just picked up a bargain second hand Uppababy Vista (not a 2) at a baby sale. I'm so in love with it!!

havanamama · 22/11/2022 19:47

I was told up to 26 weeks it’s normal to have irregular patterns, or the odd quiet day.
but I had been feeling regular patterns for a few weeks so it freaked me out especially since I’ve been ill the past 2 weeks

havanamama · 22/11/2022 19:50

@ChristmasJumpers it is lovely isn’t it 🥰

LittleAcorn20 · 22/11/2022 20:05

@Rose429 We had an icandy peach with DD and I can't remember the brand of our car seat, but it was a different brand, yet compatible.
We like going to national trusts and getting out and about a fair bit so we went for that as it had all-terrain wheels.
Would defo suggest the John Lewis nursery appointment if you live anywhere near one or can travel to one without too much hassle. They are SO worth it for letting you try out and see and feel a wide range and their experts are so helpful at understanding your life style and then knowing what products would match. And they are in no way pushy to make a sale. We didn't buy there and then. You'll come away so much less overwhelmed!
@Babynum2 I like the idea of sling until they're 6ish months and then stroller! They're so much lighter to manage, and DD still likes the stroller to an extent so im thinking of a combo of sling, stroller, buggy board.

Choc2022 · 23/11/2022 01:42

I have had itchy hands and feet and slightly swollen feet. Midwife said to go in day unit for bloods and obs - all clear but was reassuring to hear heartbeat and be told everythings ok.

Side note: what I thought were baby movements is likely to have been gas as baby couldnt be that far up lol

Room4onemore · 23/11/2022 05:21

@Choc2022 glad everything is ok, I get kicks really high up, I know it’s kicks cause you see them now, my 4 year old is fascinated when she is kicking lol

ChrisTheSheep16 · 23/11/2022 08:50

Has anybody had their whooping cough vaccine? If so how did you feel after it? I have mine booked for Friday but a pretty busy weekend ahead. I am just wondering if it had any side effects as can't afford to be unwell this weekend after it.

AGirlsNameIsAryaStark · 23/11/2022 08:54

@ChrisTheSheep16 i had mine a few weeks ago, felt absolutely fine, but my arm felt like it had gone 10 rounds with Mike Tyson for a good few days!

CristinaNov182 · 23/11/2022 08:54

If you’re in uk, when and how did you get your mat certificate? I have to tell her by next week and I haven’t received anything and midwife hasn’t replied to my message.

iratepirate · 23/11/2022 08:56

No effects at all after vaccine tbh @ChrisTheSheep16 - good luck with yours!

havanamama · 23/11/2022 08:57

I asked my midwife for the MATB1 form in 16 week appointment and she had it ready for me to collect at 20 weeks from the GP reception.

havanamama · 23/11/2022 08:57

I’m yet to have my whooping cough jab but was fine after the Covid and flu ones.
