If anyone is thinking of using cloth nappies, reusable wipes or reusable maternity sanitary wear then there's a great black Friday sale over on The Nappy Lady website.
This website is also great for advice and can provide personalised advice on getting started with cloth nappies etc by filling in the questionnaire on there.

www.thenappylady.co.uk/

Appreciate it really isn't for everyone. But it's easier than you'd imagine, and the cost savings from even just using reusable wipes are just crazy - worth a try in a cost of living crisis.

For us with DD we started off by using just cloth wipes for strictly wees only, until I got a bit braver, read up more on how it all works and adjusted through the harder first few weeks of becoming new parents. Then we moved onto nappies too part-time and used the wipes for all changes.

Reusable maternity pads wouldn't have worked well for me in the first few days postpartum and I did need the disposable ones, but when the bleeding eased a little, the cloth ones were so much more pleasant to wear. Because they're cotton it's more just like wearing pants and it doesn't feel all horrible and bulky/plasticky! Can't recommend them more highly for comfort. When everything is a bit sore down there after labour, they are just so much softer and nicer than bulky plastic pads imo 👍

Got myself a lovely little sickness bug. The joys of working with small children 😭

iratepirate · 24/11/2022 05:18

@Babynum2 also still feeling sick most days 😔 I keep hoping it will pass soon.

iratepirate · 24/11/2022 05:19

@TeddyBeans i hope you feel better soon!

will chase up the form next time. I likely won’t be taking any may leave anyway but last time DH needed it to take shared parental leave for a few months, which he may do again.

TeddyBeans · 24/11/2022 09:01

Sat on the sofa feeling very sorry for myself. I'm very pleased to be starting maternity leave at Xmas now if it gets me away from all the germs 😬 Binge watching one born every minute which was my little guilty pleasure during my last pregnancy. Found it so reassuring to see how the midwives/staff deal with all sorts of situations

Hope you feel better soon @TeddyBeans !

I'm genuinely starting to think I might take maternity leave early. I am not thriving this pregnancy 😂 seem to have every symptom/ailment going and just exhausted and achy. I might try and get through Christmas and then go 🙈

Perexi · 24/11/2022 10:23

Get well soon @TeddyBeans

I think I'm coming out of the other side of covid, day four and although still coughing and spluttering I don't feel as sick. Baby has been moving around so hopefully he's all ok in there!

havanamama · 24/11/2022 10:33

I still have Dec,Jan, and Feb to work.
I just want the full 12 months with baby ideally.

TeddyBeans · 24/11/2022 10:55

@Perexi glad to hear you're feeling better, I should probably do a covid test to make sure I haven't picked it up from somewhere 😬

@havanamama I was never gonna get the full 12 months, can't afford to not get paid for the last 3! Plus with my BP starting to go up, there's no guarantee I'll make it to February, let alone her due date 🙁

Franklin321 · 24/11/2022 11:11

I’m working (hopefully) until beginning of feb when I’m about 36 weeks…I work mainly in schools although not term time so I’m breaking up my work to pre Xmas hols and then after which makes it easier to cope with 😅 if my placenta doesn’t move and she needs to make an earlier arrival than planned 39 weeks I’ll try and bring it forward a week or so! Maternity leave pay is so shit, plus I was going crazy by 7 months on my last maternity leave I’ll be going back before the 9 months I’m sure!

I was a bit shocked I had covid tbh as I thought I just had that bug everyone seems to have at the moment but there's such an overlap in the symptoms. Hopefully your clear!

Hope your BP stays within a safe range for as long as possible 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Room4onemore · 24/11/2022 12:54

Omg I’ve started sorting my daughters clothes out and deciding what I’m keeping for baby, so far a black bag for charity, a bag for rubbish and too many clothes to keep lol

havanamama · 24/11/2022 12:58

@TeddyBeans Im actually going to MAC tonight as I’ve got a headache for 2 days that doesn’t improve with paracetamol.
I’m already on Aspirin since week 12, and BP and protein was fine at 16 week appointment.

what’s the correlation with BP and labour ? Do you need to be induced / have a section earlier if your BP is high ?

TeddyBeans · 24/11/2022 13:04

@havanamama I'm glad you're going to get checked out, hopefully it's nothing to worry about. So for me, where I had preeclampsia last time I'm more disposed to it this time. I had 1+ protein in my urine at my 24 week appointment and have been told to keep an eye on my BP as proteins and high BP are the main indicators of preeclampsia.

It's not too high at the moment, they don't class it as high until it's over 140/90 but it's increased from my normal over the last 4 days. My hospital bags are packed just in case 🤦‍♀️

I've started doing this with DS' old clothes! I already pulled out all the gendered stuff and still have loads of neutral things left over 🤣 it's crazy isn't it?

Hello!
Can I join too- and the FB group too please?
Due 29th March.

@SenecaFalls1848 here you go! fb.me/g/p_8cv9Hefi5Qzc1gXa/9T7awg7t?ref=share

Have you found out your baby's gender? We're doing pink/blue/yellow (surprise) hearts on our due date list

OP posts:
Blocklynn · 24/11/2022 15:23

I’m hoping to work as long as possible to get more time with baby.
Luckily I’m able to change to working from home when I want (currently do 2 days in office and 3 at home) so after Christmas I might change to that. Will see how I feel.
Maybe I’m being really naïve but I’m hoping to just carry on doing all my normal things until my due date 🙈

Blocklynn · 24/11/2022 15:42

@LittleAcorn20 good shout on checking out the nappy lady, made me also look at cheeky wipes, they currently have the £50 “everything you need” bundle down to £35.

Thank you!

Yellow heart for me please- a surprise :)

Eastybaby19 · 24/11/2022 16:52

Had my 3 weekly scan and check up with my consultant today, baby boys heart is all looking good! Measuring slightly under average but she said nothing to be concerned about at the moment! Made my day getting a sneak peak at 4D 😍🥰

LittleAcorn20 · 24/11/2022 17:06

Hi @SenecaFalls1848 👋
I am amazed how many of us are team 💛
People often say to me "ahh are you having a girl or a boy" and then they act like it's a huge deal, not the done thing when I say we are choosing not to know!
The suspense however is now killing me! And still 14 weeks to go 😅

Bobduncan · 24/11/2022 17:30

@Eastybaby19 so amazing! Look at those little hands, so cute 😍 I'm definitely going to get a 4D scan in a few weeks time to see my lil lady!

Babynum2 · 24/11/2022 17:54

@TeddyBeans I am on the one born every minute vibe at the moment to I watched it in my last 2 pregnancies so I've seen them all I'm just obsessed with all things baby and birth right now.

Cdoc · 24/11/2022 19:11

@Eastybaby19 this is amazing! The little face 😍beautiful
