Husbands don't have to provide matb1 forms to get parental leave. You only get one form which you physically give to your own employer.

Ah, that’s potentially not such a problem then. His employer requested a copy of it last time so I thought it was a requirement for shared leave. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Eastybaby19 · 28/12/2022 11:01

@iratepirate exactly what @havanamama said - I'd definitely phone and get bloods bp and urine done by gp or nurse explain to them that none of this has been done from whenever it was. Is this your first pregnancy?

I’ve just tried them but they have said don’t have any appointments, they can book me a phone one for 4th Jan, which isn’t a lot of help. 😒

I’ve left a message for the midwife unit in the hospital and my number in the hope they can find me something.

Not my first pregnancy.

GreenIsle · 28/12/2022 11:17

@iratepirate that's strange it's your medical information and document so they should not be requesting a copy of it at all.

At that time he worked for a part of the MoD and they had some incredibly weird policies. They wouldn’t grant his request without it and also made me fill in several pages of policy paperwork for it.

He works elsewhere now so I’m sure with his current employer things will be far more “normal”. 🤞🏻

I just had to send pictures of it to my HR team and my partner has to do similar for his paternity leave.... I guess each company is different.

MattyM5 · 28/12/2022 13:27

@iratepirate we work in the NHS and my husband had to hand in a scan of my MatB1. It‘s purely to confirm the pregnancy and avoid scams, there isn’t any real medical information on it, just your due date and hospital name. He had the 25 week rule too but there was something wrong with his original request so he re-submitted later and they were fine with it. Good luck, sorry you are having such a nightmare! x

Thank you!
It’s just one of those unfortunate things. The midwives can’t help illness.
I’ve left voicemails with both of the hospitals nearest to me, so fingers crossed someone can fit me in somewhere.

Those that have gained weight in pregnancy so far - by how much has your weight increase? (In kilograms/pounds/percentage,whichever) ?

I last weighed myself at 4 months, when I had gained +5kg. It’s now been 3 months and I’m tempted to weigh myself but also am scared of the scale and how it might impact me mentally. I know it’s just numbers but also would like to know where I’m at, as mirror is a very subjective measurement.

Babynum2 · 28/12/2022 19:21

@havanamama I'm up exactly 2 stone. I was 10.10 start of pregnancy and just weighed myself and I'm 12.10 I'm only 5ft2 so it's rather heavy for my height but I got to say my bump is huge!

ChristmasJumpers · 28/12/2022 20:03

@havanamama I'm up 6lbs so far from pre pregnancy (but I did lose lots in the 1st trimester I've gained more than 6lbs back)

Dreamingof3 · 28/12/2022 20:34

I've technically gained 8lhs but I did lose 11 so still 3lh off starting weight (high BMI anyway!)

TeddyBeans · 28/12/2022 20:57

I weighed 99kg at booking, was 107.something yesterday when I weighed. I don't tend to think about it, a good 5kg of that is baby and related pregnancy crap. The rest will either come off or stay put until I can be arsed to lose weight 🤷‍♀️

Sometimes I think I'm too blasé about these things but I guess someone has to be!

I’m up about 21lb 🫣
28 weeks on Friday. On the weight guide someone put on here I’m currently just above the recommended for my start weight.
Have definitely put on a decent amount of fat but trying to make better choices with food.

AK93 · 28/12/2022 21:14

I weighed myself today but different areas of the floor give different readings 😆 I estimate it's probably closer to a gain of around 5kg from weight at booking, but unless I get weighed at appts (I'm sure on my notes it said I should've been in 2nd trimester & also should be in 3rd) then I don't know how accurate that is.
I did look at a chart using my starting weight which shows a rough guide of weight gain for the number of weeks but I don't get too worked up about that x

LittleAcorn20 · 28/12/2022 21:24

@JG24 I can't remember the brand I have but the nappy lady website is good for advice and has a few different brands to choose from, giving really good descriptions of the pros/cons of different brands. You can buy off her website too.
When I dig mine out over the next couple of weeks I'll try and see if there's a label on them and let you know.
I also use reusable pads/period pants normally and used washable maternity pads, but I did have a couple of packs of the disposable ones for the first couple of days. As @TeddyBeans said, I had a similar experience of postpartum bleeding in that after about 3/4 days it wasn't exceptionally heavy, just prolonged. Kind of like mid-period days sort of flow, but for weeks.
I'll be trying to get by with similar this time. One pack of disposables maybe and then just my normal reusable period pads and the slightly bigger reusable postpartum ones. They're SO much comfier than the disposables!

Perexi · 28/12/2022 21:32

I've gained 3kg so far at 27 weeks, I'm really hoping to gain as little as possible as was higher BMI when I got pregnant and got a bit worried about being an older lady pregnant with higher BMI but what will be will be.

Cdoc · 28/12/2022 21:36

I’m up 22lb at 30+4! More than I’d like to be, but I wasn’t sick once in the first trimester and eating carbs is the only way I could stop the nausea, so I did that all day every day 🤷🏻‍♀️ I’m measuring with a lot of fluid so I’m hoping a good chunk of that will be baby plus fluid 🙈

Babynum2 · 28/12/2022 21:43

This is my weight tracker on my pregnancy app I've gained the most out the ladies that have posted so far and I'm still within projected weight lines so I wouldn't worry! I've also had terrible HG hence the weight loss at the start.

Dreamingof3 · 28/12/2022 21:55

I like this image too, to show where the weight actually comes from...only a small amount of it is actually fat and even then it is needed for energy etc
My diet has been awful the last couple of weeks so in the new year I will be making more of an effort to eat a bit more healthily now my nausea has gone 95% of the time.

@Dreamingof3 this is such a helpful picture, thank you for posting that!

TeddyBeans · 28/12/2022 22:22

@Dreamingof3 based on that picture we can expect to gain a minimum of 13kg 🥳 this is the kind of numbers I like to see because it means I'm still under for now! 😂

havanamama · 28/12/2022 22:33

I will weigh myself tomorrow first thing in the morning and see. I shouldn’t be scared of a scale.

TeddyBeans · 29/12/2022 00:18

@havanamama good for you 😊 it's just a number at the end of the day!

ChristmasJumpers · 29/12/2022 07:25

Weighed myself this morning as I've hit 27 weeks today, I lost 1lb this week 🤨 so total weight gain from ore pregnancy is 5lbs. I think I read somewhere that 3rd trimester packs on a lot of weight but who knows!!

As long as baby is growing at a healthy rate that's all we need to worry about 🥰
