I was not terrified of going over, what’s terrified me now is how many of you write here about stillbirths.
I might need to step back from here for a few days, as that just gives me unnecessary anxiety.

I worked on labour ward for 2 years if it makes you feel any better - in that time I saw just 2 still born full term babies. So it is very rare. Try not to worry. For a period of time in this pregnancy the babies I saw still born used to flash up in my mind and I’d cry about it, I also have a name for our baby but I refuse to use it till he’s born due to that...but I had to be logical with myself and be like it’s so rare. Its normal to worry about your baby - it’s no different when they are earth side. I was obsessed with my baby themometer with my first son as I was so scared of him being unwell and something happening to him. This is normal when you really love someone 💗 just try not to ruminate on it and to think positive thoughts instead x

Perexi · 27/12/2022 12:23

Thanks for posting that @Blondewave good to hear. It's all quite scary and I thought it's was a rare thing but when you see so many people comments about it happening it's hard not to panic a bit!

Last couple of day's ive started getting rib pain so I think the little guys getting bigger as rib pain while he kicks me in the bladder is not fun 😂 I'm definitely starting to feel bigger now and having to slow down a bit, we went on a long hilly walk yesterday and I certainly paid for it in the evening as my hip and back were so sore, must learn to relax!

Perexi · 27/12/2022 12:25

Has anyone bought anything good in the sales? We bought a chest of drawers/changing table last night from M&S it's a little bit more than we hoped to pay but comes fully built and quality looks great.

havanamama · 27/12/2022 13:36

Thank you @Blondewave ❤️

Regarding the sales, we ordered a chest of draws with a removable changer top from Online4Babies, it was massively discounted.
I hope to get all her clothes washed before it arrives, so the nursery comes together.

Babynum2 · 27/12/2022 14:31

My mum got me 3 set of hooded towels for £3 in tk maxx she also went to the next sale for me and got me the 3 pack of baby grows I love less than half price.

Babynum2 · 27/12/2022 14:32

@havanamama this is my mission for first week of Jan get some fairy tabs and get it all washed and in the wardrobe. I have everything now but it's all just thrown in the cupboard so need to get organised. Once I wash it all I can properly pack my hospital bag to.

Bobduncan · 27/12/2022 16:47

This might be a really stupid question, but all new baby grows and bits - do they all need washing first? Is fairy the best washing powder to use? X

TeddyBeans · 27/12/2022 17:13

@Bobduncan you don't have to, I do because you can't guarantee they're clean. DS and I both got a huge rash from some Christmas PJ's the other year that I hadn't washed before wearing. It doesn't really matter what you wash them in but I prefer to use my usual stuff + Dettol laundry cleaner stuff

Room4onemore · 27/12/2022 17:20

I’ve been to the next sale this morning but to be honest the amount of time they are in them before they change size, I buy primark so it’s not to expensive

JG24 · 27/12/2022 17:30

Sorry for the late response to this or if someone has already suggested this...I belive you can get 20 KIT/SPLIT days if you go onto shared parental leave rather than maternity leave. The basic shared parental pay is the same as matenity pay so that could be an option
You need to check how your company pays KIT days - do they pay a full week of maternoty pay then a full day pay on top for every day worked or do they knock off a % of your maternity pay for every day you've worked

JG24 · 27/12/2022 17:38

Can you let me know which postpartum reusable pads you bought?
I use period pants and think they're great so definitely want to try the pads

TeddyBeans · 27/12/2022 18:26

@jg24 just use your period pants. You might have to change them more frequently but I found that post partum bleeding wasn't particularly heavy, just prolonged

Hope everyone had a lovely Christmas!

wondering if anyone has some advice, this is my first so no idea what’s normal but the last few days I’ve had this quite intense aching feeling but feels like it’s in my actual vagina?! Like it’s not in my upper groin it feels like it’s really inside if that makes sense?

havanamama · 28/12/2022 00:33

@AGirlsNameIsAryaStark I get that along with the pelvic girdle pain , so been thinking it’s the same thing

dmb91 · 28/12/2022 00:51

I'm exhausted. Recovering from covid. I just want to sleep.
But this baby won't stop moving... The nausea 🤢
I just don't know what to do with myself. 😫

iratepirate · 28/12/2022 09:31

Ugh. Midwife just called to cancel today’s apt again. (Was meant to be 28wks, I’m currently 31).
My GP don’t have any available for next two weeks so have suggested I try the midwife units at the hospitals.
Apparently they need me to go to this as there are blood tests etc to do. I guess they’ll also be able to provide mat1b form which DH probably needs to give to his work soon for his parental leave request. 😔

Oh man that's terrible I hope you can get an appointment that's really overdue now! Surely they should have given you another date?

Eastybaby19 · 28/12/2022 10:01

@iratepirate that's a disgrace they have cancelled u and not given another appt. I would get in asap as you need all the bloods done again. At my 28 week bloods I discovered I was very low in iron & potassium & needed medication to get the levels back up. Still on strong iron tablets but I had to have a potassium drip. Hope u get sorted x

havanamama · 28/12/2022 10:05

@iratepirate oh, I was under the impression that both mums and dads need to give MATB1 by week 25 to qualify for leave and pay.

Im also waiting for my “28 week” blood test results. Otherwise all good, had my first growth scan - baby is 1.6kg currently. 😊
10 more weeks to go!

iratepirate · 28/12/2022 10:06

It’s such a pain. I’ve ended up with an unexpected morning off work today now, as it was too short notice to do anything about that.
The lady who called said she couldn’t sort out an appointment there (she was from the midwife team at the hospital I believe) as it was a different department (not entirely sure how she couldn’t have put my call through) but I’ll keep trying them. No answer so far.

Me too. I didn’t have one issued at the 25wk apt and when I asked on the phone, was just told to request it at the next (should have been 28w) apt.
I won’t be taking any leave myself but husband was hoping to do shared parental. It looks as though we will have to change plans.

I think bc it’s midwife clinic but in the GP surgery, so the surgery manage appointments but there are only four or six slots per week so they book up quickly.
The lady was calling from the midwife team which cover the local area and just said they still have too many people off sick to be able to cover the clinics in the more rural areas. 🫤 I totally understand but wish they could have let me know a little sooner than forty mins before the appointment.

havanamama · 28/12/2022 10:18

@iratepirate I would ring your GP and request the GP or their nurse takes the bloods and checks your urine, blood pressure.

havanamama · 28/12/2022 10:19

I’ve recently changed my hospital of choice for giving birth. I really hope I get this one when the day comes, as they have private rooms.
having stayed ok the wards for assessments, it gets so loud even with only 1 or 2 other ladies in the room.

GreenIsle · 28/12/2022 10:52

Husbands don't have to provide matb1 forms to get parental leave. You only get one form which you physically give to your own employer.
