@TeddyBeans thank you, I’ve got 3 scans booked, 28, 32 and 36 so far possibly another at 38 but I’m just glad I get extra so I can see how she is doing, got this feeling in the back of my head that they are going to say it’s a boy 😂

Choc2022 · 20/12/2022 03:14

I am SO not ready! Picked up a few bits here and there thinking I've bought a lot but I really haven't. Im a bit stuck with how many babygrows to buy at newborn and first few months. Some people say dont buy too much as they'll grow and others say buy loads as thats the stage they'll poop and be sick loads.

Any ideas?

Bobduncan · 20/12/2022 04:43

@Choc2022 I'm also stuck on this same question!

iratepirate · 20/12/2022 06:00

I think a lot of it comes down to how quickly you can get your washing done and dry and ready to wear again re baby grows. We have hand-me-downs for the first few sizes and so have ended up with far more than we probably need tbh.

I literally haven’t done any prep yet, although we’ve got everything we need stashed in the attic, from last time. My plan is to get it all down when I put the Xmas decs etc away and get it all washed and ready.

We still won’t be getting a pram etc, and I have a newborn car seat in the attic which was outgrown. I’m very last minute though, and last time I was packing my hospital bag as we were getting ready to go in. 🙈

LittleAcorn20 · 20/12/2022 07:13

@Choc2022 @Bobduncan don't buy too much in my opinion.
You end up gifted soooo much clothes wise and bits and bobs for baby.
Things that look like a good idea for baby are often not enjoyed by baby so sit there unused. E.g. our motorised swing and our ergobaby sling we got hardly any use from as my daughter didn't like being in them.
In our day and age everything is so quickly delivered or available at 24hr supermarkets that if you needed another pack of grows or vests you can send someone out for you, or pick some up with your weekly shop! We had Amazon out almost daily in our first few weeks with DD for some parcel or other (lockdown, so Prime was a godsend!!)

My problem is finding the time to mentally prepare a bit too. I do need all the stuff out the attic and sorted but aside from the stuff, I need to get on to reading and preparing for labour and breastfeeding. My brain needs to do that so desperatly!! @TeddyBeans I'm getting everything down from attic early Jan and then hopefully sales shopping for anything missing like you suggest!!

TeddyBeans · 20/12/2022 08:20

@Choc2022 @Bobduncan don't go bonkers on anything smaller than 0-3 because they literally grow out of it in a week. Sometimes you're lucky if they fit in any of it in the first place! 0-3 drowned my little lad to being with but it made it worth it with the amount of time they actually lasted. I'd get 2-3 bits in up to 1 month and then probably 5-7 of vests, babygrows and outfits for 0-3 months onwards. I rarely had to change my son's clothes during the day but appreciate it varies from baby to baby

I've got to have another growth scan on the 16th Jan then every 3 weeks after that. The consultant said once I've had my 36 week growth scan we should have a better idea of baby's growth/weight. She said she wanted him to stay on that 90th centile so we shall see what happens.

Is anyone else not feeling ready yet? We have bought things and still a few more bits to go which I'm hoping to get in the sales after Christmas 🤞

Dreamingof3 · 20/12/2022 08:49

Definitely agree with it depending on how quickly you can wash and dry! We do at least 1 load a day already so I know we should be ok getting things washed. My go to size is up to 1 month as it tends to last quite a while (up to 10lbs) but we also tend to only really put them in a sleepsuit for the first few months so that makes it quite simple!

havanamama · 20/12/2022 11:44

I’ve been told my baby has very long legs, so I hope the cute newborn sleep suits within feet will actually fit her. Otherwise I’ll be bummed as I spent a small fortune on some zip up ones for the newborn stage when I know I’ll be scared to move her too much when dressing. 😅

This is my worry too! Legs were off the little scale on the 20 week scan paperwork so I'm hoping they slow down otherwise he's going to be all legs!

Perexi · 20/12/2022 12:42

Feeling really fed up the last few days, sleep is starting to hurt my hips and everyone else is having normal Christmas stuff going on and I just feel a bit meh. I normally love Christmas and all the fun stuff so am struggling not being involved. I know I have to slow down and will be worth it but yeah moan over 😂

havanamama · 20/12/2022 13:01

@Perexi haha same ! Missing out on ice scaring and long Christmas lights walks.
I just want to do long walks and return to gym but with PGP and back pain it’s not realistic.

I have made myself a YouTube at home postpartum workout playlist for when I’m 6+ weeks postpartum and cleared to work out, and can’t wait to push the pram around NT and English Heritage sites on long walks!
My gym is also baby-friendly, but I think I might want to return to gym for my mental health solo, whilst my husband is with baby a couple of evenings a week.

TeddyBeans · 20/12/2022 15:12

Don't worry too much about long legged babies, they tuck their legs up into the body of the babygrows anyway (it looks like their legs have deflated which is hilarious) for a good few weeks before they realise they have space to stretch out 🤣

I’m beginning to get a bit of discomfort in my hips now and it’s driving me crazy. Morning runs are a lot harder 😔 Roll on the end of pregnancy tbh.

TeddyBeans · 20/12/2022 18:31

@iratepirate I'm amazed you're still running, I get out of breath going up the two flights of stairs to my flat probably says more about me than you 😁

I have had a rubbish day HG has been really bad, Pelvis feels like it's about to drop off, dogs got in the bin and ripped everything up then left me a lovely present because he's eaten crap from the bin and my kids are killing eachother. My partner is working the next week doing security at winter wonderland and it's long 14 hour shifts so he's staying in London i literally say on the end of my bed and cried because I didn't know what else to do! Oh the joys of pregnancy

iratepirate · 20/12/2022 20:04

I’m not sure it’s much of a run anymore tbh.
Perhaps more of a slow plod.

ChristmasJumpers · 20/12/2022 20:07

Not a good day here either. I started with a sore throat on Sunday night and oh my god the pain! I have a horrible deep cough that feels like it's ripping my throat apart and just generally lethargic and bunged up.
I've not had a cold or cough for so long

Hello 👋 everyone due 1 Apr 23 but hoping for a March baby. This baby no5, team 💕. Finally got around to finding a thread with 15w or less to go!

Well done for still running. I’m trying to compete wk8 and 9 of c25k. I have been derailed with the snow and ice but only have 4 more runs to go! I use run in the looses sense of the word. I tend to go in the evenings, it looks pretty out with the Christmas lights twinkling

iratepirate · 20/12/2022 20:37

Thankfully I bought a treadmill the first time
I was pregnant so that I could do a bit during nap times, so I’m all set for the poor weather and the really dark nights (we live in the middle of nowhere so no streetlights or pavements).

@TeddyBeans
It really won't be long for you!!!

I still feel so unprepared! We currently have an unusable living room whilst waiting for plaster to finish drying then we've got painting and flooring and new radiators to sort ASAP...we've also got my partner's mum staying on and off over next couple of weeks so we can't use the room she's in to store anything, had to take stuff out and put in baby room for her to be able to stay🙈 I would've put off her staying with us but don't have a choice and my partner would be sad if he didn't get to see her. The house is packed with stuff everywhere, but I want to start getting the baby bits sooner rather than later!
I'm 27 weeks atm but I'm starting to wonder if we'll be sorted in time!!

I wonder if anyone else is really not anywhere near ready yet? 😆

I do look forward to seeing the announcements though and hope everyone is doing ok!

Oh yeah I mean... I’ve got 8 weeks ish to go and I’m moving house in 10 days, we completed last week and got keys but didn’t want to move in over Xmas. We have to get flooring down, decorating done and then I can buy the babies cot etc and put that in the babies room. I still feel like I have loads of time but everyone is like. Are you mad moving house and having a baby at the same time 🤣😂 will make the last few weeks go quicker tho for sure xx

I'm not at all prepared.
We moved house in April and I assumed I had most of what was needed in the garage - checked a few days ago; turns out the garage is damp and most things even that were in boxes are ruined! Car seat is covered in mould, same with pram; some idiot (I'm blaming DH, he's blaming removals) has put heavy boxes on top of the Moses basket and it's completely crushed, I can't even find any baby clothes Confused Can't remember getting rid of them but may have done, so I've got to pretty much start over again.
