@havanamama sounds good, im looking forward to it. We were looking at bump and baby club in person classes but I left it too late and they sold out lol also cost a fortune that's why I was kinda holding off booking. So these free ones sound ideal!

dmb91 · 14/12/2022 21:37

Thanks @TeddyBeans, unfortunately the nearest ones are an hours drive away 😫
I forgot the midwife did weigh me today, I'm down 10kg on my booking appointment weight.. she didn't seem concerned though, anyone else in the same boat?

Katlouise24 · 14/12/2022 21:40

Worrying news for me :(

I got rushed into A&E with difficulty breathing, flu and reduced movements this morning😩
Definite flu and possible blood clot on the lung...luckily baby is okay and had perfect heart beat whilst monitoring.

Does anyone have any experience or know of any stories of blood clots on the lung? Haven't been told for sure yet, have to go back first thing in the morning. But they've already given me an anti blood clot injection in my belly just incase! 😩

LittleAcorn20 · 14/12/2022 21:47

@dmb91 I lost weight through my last pregnancy and it was never a cause for concern with the doctors or midwives - and I was under consultant for low BMI as well (BMI low at booking appt and throughout pregnancy and ever since) they didn't seem worried. Said baby would get all it needed regardless.
I had boughts of morning sickness, norovirus and horrendous anxiety where I couldn't eat for weeks on end. If I ever asked or told them I was worried, they just said do what you can to keep your food intake up, but weren't overly pushy/worried/didn't do anything special or particular to help.

@Katlouise24 sorry to hear that. It sounds like a scary day! But also that they've looked after you well so far and will be closely monitoring 👍 sorry no experience to advise but sending good wishes xx

Rose429 · 14/12/2022 22:33

Having my GTT on Friday and I’m worried sick! Anyone knows if they tell you the result straight away or it’s a few days wait?

havanamama · 14/12/2022 22:43

@Rose429 where I am, they said they would ring me the next working day if there were any issues. If no issues, then I would only find out the results at my next midwife appointment.

why are you so worried?

Rose429 · 14/12/2022 22:52

@havanamama Because diabetes runs on my dad’s side of the family - we’re taking my dad, his 3 out of 7 siblings and his mum. We’re Asian so the statistics isn’t in our favour either 😂

I started the pregnancy with a healthy BMI and haven’t gained lots of weight, but still very worried!

Room4onemore · 14/12/2022 23:54

Omg girls TMI but I’m constipated and I’m so much pain, any quick remedies to help me out 😫

Hrf1503 · 15/12/2022 06:42

@Blondewave - not immediately immediately but my acupuncturist said it would take up to 3 days to feel the benefits and that was about right for me. Had two sessions about a week apart and feeling much better (but sciatica is a nerve issue so not sure if it’s different for SPD). Going to go every 2-3 weeks until DD. Good luck x

oceanadventurer · 15/12/2022 08:34

@Room4onemore my midwife suggested Lactulose. You can buy it from any pharmacy. Hope it helps.

Room4onemore · 15/12/2022 08:48

Thank you I’ll grab some today

Try not to worry until there's something you need to worry about, the test isn't terrible and if there's any issues they will let you know so that you can make some changes. I had mine on Monday and knew on Wednesday that I was in the normal bracket.

PeonyPops · 15/12/2022 10:03

I had mine on Monday, and I’ve not heard anything? Should someone have rang me by now?

ChristmasJumpers · 15/12/2022 10:13

@Perexi I had mine yesterday and they said I'll get a call within 48 hours if I have GD and they'll just put the result onto Badger notes if I've not got it - in constantly checking the app for updates now! Haha

@Rose429 I have got myself very stressed about it too and convinced myself l will have it because it will be just my luck! I have ARFID so it will not be easy for me to adjust my diet if needed! Hopefully we both get good news

LaForza101 · 15/12/2022 11:28

Update on my growth scan: all is well. He is currently measuring bang average from the scan and it was actually good to get extra reassurance that heart, placenta and amniotic fluid all look fine too.

The midwife taught me how to take the fundal measurement so I can guide the community midwife on where to position the tape on the pubic bone next time. I bet that will go down well!

Cdoc · 15/12/2022 11:58

@Katlouise24 sorry to hear that! How are you doing this morning, any update? No experience except PE and DVT are two things that I have been nervous about. Hope you are ok xx

MrsD0147 · 15/12/2022 14:05

Been reading this thread and not posted yet. 28 weeks and was due to have GTT tomorrow and private scan that I’d booked to take my mum and sister too but been admitted into hospital with flu this morning so they’ve both been cancelled. Have started antibiotic treatment already but feeling genuinely awful. They’ve checked baby and seems fine from the monitor.

MrsD0147 · 15/12/2022 14:13

@Katlouise24 how are you feeling today?

LittleAcorn20 · 15/12/2022 15:25

Got a horrible stuffy cold and all I want is some sudafed 😭 so hard having a cold without medication!!

Babynum2 · 15/12/2022 15:29

@LittleAcorn20 this is what I said to DP I really wish we could know exact weight as I have only ever had my babies early so they have been small side so no idea what they will be. I hope I go full term but my bump is measuring 2 weeks ahead at the moment and my daughter was 4 weeks early and she weighed 7.11lb

Babynum2 · 15/12/2022 15:31

@Katlouise24 I had multiple blood clots on lung with first pregnancy (PE) if you need and support here to help!

Blondewave · 15/12/2022 18:35

Oh gosh so sorry about this / I’ve heard about sooo many people having pulmonary embolisms at the moment. Out of interest have you had the Covid booster? I’ve heard a lot of people getting them following the Covid vaccine. I used to be an A&E nurse and luckily they are easily treatable if caught early which sounds like yours has been and won’t affect baby. Hope you are feeling better soon xx

TeddyBeans · 15/12/2022 19:33

Wow it's been busy here since I checked out yesterday!

@Katlouise24 hope you're okay and the treatment is working

@Cams50 did they give you a list of things to try in case your blood sugar stayed high? I haven't had GD so don't know what the protocol is

@MrsD0147 welcome to the thread! Hope you feel better soon and you can rebook the things you've missed

RE: GTT, it's a bit like the combined screening results. Usually you get a call if it's bad or your midwife tells you that you're all good at your next appointment.

I think I got treated to my first case of Izzy hiccups yesterday whilst in the bath. Lots of little regular taps in the middle of my bump 🥰 still the cutest feeling!

I am unofficially on maternity leave 🥳🥳 today was our last day of term and I'm not going back after Christmas. Maternity leave itself doesn't actually start until 1st January but it works for me. DP and I are going to do the last of our Christmas shopping tomorrow while DS is at school and then we're on the final countdown!

As sad as it is and I'll miss the kids dearly, I'm very pleased to be going off. I've caught everything going so far (exceptions being strep and covid - who knows how) and would love just a few weeks of feeling well before little miss makes her appearance

Anyone have any experience with varicose veins? I think I have one on my labia. It's about an inch long and feels bumpy. Sometimes it's more pronounced than others but it seems to just be there most of the time. It's not uncomfortable but I hope it goes away after she's born

Cams50 · 15/12/2022 21:27

@Katlouise24 Hope you’re ok!

@Rose429 I had my GTT last Wednesday and found out I had it on Monday. I think mine was longer than normal though because the diabetic nurse was away last week.

@TeddyBeans they haven’t given me a list as such but think I have to just keep going with the diet and Metformin and find out which foods I can tolerate and when etc. And then I might need insulin if they don’t settle. I have a call with the diabetic nurse next week. And my growth scan today and they think I have polyhydramnios (too much amniotic fluid) so I’ve to go back next week for a scan to confirm this. Don’t know if anyone has had this before?

Congrats on starting your maternity leave! Very exciting. It’ll be so handy having that time to sort everything for the baby too. So cute about the hiccups. Sorry no experience with the varicose veins though.

Splashh · 16/12/2022 05:54

Guys, can I get your opinion on who you’re having at your birth? My mum wants to be there alongside DH but I think it’s jus going to stress me out more so I said no for now, but I feel bad about it!
