@Blondewave I don’t have SPD but had such bad sciatica I couldn’t walk without crying out in pain. I’ve had two acupuncture sessions and it’s really really helped, couldn’t actually believe it. It’s not cheap (mine is £70 a session) but I’m going to go every few weeks till the end now. Just find one registered with the British Acupuncture Council (or equivalent of you aren’t UK based) and who specialises in pregnancy / women’s health. I hope it gets better for you.

Thank so much going to try this. Did you notice improvement straight away? I’ve been signed off work now as I’m a nurse and I just couldn’t work. Going to be a long last few weeks 😂 x

Just had my 25 week midwife appointment, no diabetes and a listen to the heartbeat 🥰

@Room4onemore she doesn't sound very jolly does she, try to take it with a pinch of salt.

I didnt get the diabetes test. Do they only do it for certain people? X

LaForza101 · 14/12/2022 11:44

I'm having a really stressful week. First getting movements checked at the hospital on Sunday, then a plumbing leak in the bathroom to sort and now my fundal height is lower than the 95th percentile, so I've got to go for a growth scan tomorrow.

I know they are really common but I just feel sad and overwhelmed in case he has growth restriction. We struggled so much with recurrent miscarriage that I'm ultra paranoid my body is going to mess this up.

He's wriggling away and heart measurements were all good on Sunday so that's a comfort. I'm hoping that he is just taking after my husband's small-sized family

Try not to worry. I was measuring over 10 weeks behind with my first baby and was told he’d be tiny 5lb max. They sent me for loads of growth scans. I was 2lb at birth so always suspected a small or early baby. However - he came out a whopping 8lb at 38 weeks and lots of chub. Take it with a pinch of salt they just following protocols there is no way they can tell the size of a baby before it’s born accurately. You must have strong stomach muscles and baby is well tucked in ☺️

Yep I think it varies from hospital to hospital as to if you require the test so I wouldn't worry.

havanamama · 14/12/2022 13:16

We did our first antenatal class yesterday 🥰
can’t believe only 9 weeks till full term left!!

Still need to book first aid class

LaForza101 · 14/12/2022 13:29

Thanks @Blondewave 🙂

ChristmasJumpers · 14/12/2022 13:48

GTT done this morning. The drink was lovely! Raspberry flavour 😋 I think I shocked the midwives when I gulped it down haha

Fingers crossed the result is good but I'll happily live in ignorance until I know for sure

MattyM5 · 14/12/2022 14:22

@Blondewave sorry to hear! I’ve had COVID at about 14 weeks pregnant but no assigned midwife yet at that stage. Tried ringing the dreadful hospital switchboard a couple of times but eventually gave up and just made sure to rest and take paracetamol. Told my midwife a couple of weeks later that I had it and she wasn’t interested in the slightest as it’s just seen as a cold/flue now. In my experience they don’t do any extra testing or anything that baby is fine after you recover from it (but might vary between different hospitals). Moral of the story, rest up and look after yourself and try not to worry, baby will be just fine 😊

MattyM5 · 14/12/2022 14:25

And I tagged the wrong person - sorry pregnancy brain!! @oceanadventurer

Exactly. My fail safe when I get a cold or virus is bucket loads of hot water with lemon and honey.

The hot water cleanses your gut to help fight the infection, the lemon also has strong anti viral and anti bacterial properties and natural honey like Manuka has lots of good ingredients to support the bodies healing process..plus lots of rest and sleep 😁

allthingssparkly · 14/12/2022 15:07

On Monday night I had my 28 weeks midwife appointment, she did babies heartbeat, felt my tum ect. All was good! I've been on badger notes to see if my blood results have come back yet and whilst having a nosy, it gave details of the fetal heartbeat and position and in the position column it said "Cephalic" I have been trying to find out in simple terms what this means and I'm coming to the conclusion it means baby is head down! Does anyone know if that meaning is correct? I haven't heard of that term before!

Room4onemore · 14/12/2022 15:51

Yeah it means head down

Room4onemore · 14/12/2022 15:52

My baby is all over, I get kicks everywhere

Choc2022 · 14/12/2022 16:22

@LaForza101 try not to worry. Ive heard sizes end up sorting itself out.

@havanamama are these private classes? I havent been offered anything and looked into NCT but £££. Wondering whether its worth it though.

TeddyBeans · 14/12/2022 16:36

@allthingssparkly yep cephalic is head down

OP posts:
allthingssparkly · 14/12/2022 16:41

Thanks @TeddyBeanswasn't expecting that so soon and I suppose positioning can change but I'm not complaining. May explain why I get some pressure down below when I'm walking 🙈🙈

TeddyBeans · 14/12/2022 16:53

@allthingssparkly DD has been head down since day dot. She's obviously incredibly comfortable there and refuses point blank to move. I've attributed my minute bladder size to her head being in the way/putting pressure on it

havanamama · 14/12/2022 16:54

@Choc2022 free classes from Baby Academy, they are midwife led. Look them up on Instagram and then you can book on their site

I don’t think anyone gets offered classes, but my midwife did send me an email with links to a bunch of them, most paid though.

LittleAcorn20 · 14/12/2022 18:12

Had my 28 week growth scan yesterday. Having them because DD was small when she was born.
She was 8th centile born.
This baby is tracking on 90th centile with, to quote the sonographer "a very large head"
Filling me with all sorts of ideas for how delivery might compare to last time!
How accurate do we think growth scans are, people sometimes say they are wildly out.

dmb91 · 14/12/2022 18:14

Had my 25 week midwife this morning, it felt like a complete waste of time tbh.
She dipped my urine and took my blood pressure, that was it! My trust no longer listen to heartbeats apparently and she didn't measure bump either 🤷‍♀️
I'm going to go to a private scan place to hear heartbeat and get it put in a teddy otherwise I don't think I'll get to hear it 😞
Was considering a private scan too because my 20week scan photos were awful but I don't want a 4d scan or to know gender so none of the scan options seem like what I'm wanting.

TeddyBeans · 14/12/2022 18:25

@dmb91 look at window to the womb, they do growth scans all the way through and the last couple of times I've been, you've been able to say whether you want to know the gender or not when you sign their covid thing in the lobby

I've signed up for baby care, baby safety and first 6 weeks free classes. Was the one that you did good?

Cams50 · 14/12/2022 20:16

Hi all. I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes on Monday. Had my appointment with the diabetic nurse yesterday and so I’ve started monitoring my blood glucose levels and changing my diet. They all started me in Metformin straight away as my levels were so high. Most of my levels are still high even with the change in diet and medication although it’s only day 2. Just wondering if anyone had a similar experience in a previous pregnancy or anything? Thanks!

havanamama · 14/12/2022 20:22

@beatingheartbaby I did the baby care class with my husband and we both found it useful and we also asked the midwife questions which she answered
