@havahavanamama that's good to know, two dead arms does not appeal when you're not supposed to sleep on your back!

I have my glucose test in a few weeks but I believe it's one blood test when you first arrive and another a couple of hours later after you've had the sugary drink

Room4onemore · 28/11/2022 10:39

GTT is 1 blood test, then a drink, then after 2 hours another blood test. You can drink plain water but not allowed to wonder around lol

TeddyBeans · 28/11/2022 10:43

@Room4onemoreI wish 🤣 there is far too much belly in the way to see downstairs anymore

@havanamama 2 tests. One when you arrive and one two hours after you have the drink. Take something to entertain yourself - you'll be bored. Yes you can drink water

Whooping cough and flu jabs today, I never usually get a flu jab and have been fortunate to never have flu!

Has anyone had them and not had a terrible dead arm afterwards?

Didn’t feel it at all afterwards for either of them!

ChristmasJumpers · 28/11/2022 13:38

@iratepirate that's good to hear, jabs done so hopefully I'll be the same 😊

allthingssparkly · 28/11/2022 14:00

It's been a while! I hope everyone is keeping well, I have just turned 26 weeks pregnant today and can't believe how fast it's going 🥺 had my GTT test this morning and SO glad it's done and out the way with.

🤍

havanamama · 28/11/2022 14:05

Thank you! ☺️
I got my
whooping cough jab done today, so officially done with all jabs Yey!

got my next scan booked for 32 weeks in January.

I was really surprised today that my midwife said we will discuss labour options at 36 weeks!!
Isn’t that a bit late?!

LaForza101 · 28/11/2022 15:30

I'm looking for advice on car seats, particularly anyone who doesn't own a car or knows someone with a newborn without a car.

We live in a city with good public transport so we don't drive but I'm hoping to travel back from the hospital with baby via a lift from a friend or family member.

I know for emergency taxi rides you don't need a car seat but I imagine there will be times we want to travel with baby in our friend's cars.

I just presumed you could buy a universal one to fit into the seatbelts of any car and we will buy one and upgrade sizes for back up as required. But a small bit of googling suggests this isn't the case and they have to fit the car model.

Is that right?

TeddyBeans · 28/11/2022 15:38

@LaForza101 the majority of carseats fit in the majority of cars. If you look on a website like Joie they'll have a fit guide which will tell you which cars that specific carseat fits in - there'll be hundreds for each seat.

For an infrequently used carseat I'd get one that does all stages so you don't have to keep buying a new one

You can get ones that fit only using a seatbelt which are pretty universal.

The one I'm getting for the cab home is this:

www.argos.co.uk/product/5416840?clickSR=slp:term:Car%20Seat:6:99:1

Then I'm planning on using it for my parents car or if we need to take any taxi anywhere later. Also bonus is that I checked and the above seat can be used in plane seats if you didn't want them sitting in your lap.

I'll also be buying another car seat more long lasting and using iso fixing for my car. It's the iso fixing that changes between cars, mine is older so limits the choice.

Babynum2 · 28/11/2022 15:49

As much as I am grateful for being pregnant how boring is it this time of year? We went ice skating yesterday and I had to stand and watch freezing my very painful nips off for an hour and a half because I couldn't join in. We went to the pub after for dinner and I wanted to eat everything I couldn't (cheese and patè). I want to put my tree and Dec's up but I'm in so much pain around my pelvis I can't bring myself to fo it

TeddyBeans · 28/11/2022 15:55

@Babynum2 I feel you. Everyone else is having a magnificent time and you're just there on the sidelines. It's bloody miserable!

Thanks @TeddyBeans and@Katdemar, really useful to know 🙂

Room4onemore · 28/11/2022 21:06

I’ve moved the furniture around today to put the tree up so I’ve just come in the bath to relax my muscles a bit and see if little lady will entertain me with a few kicks

Cats23 · 28/11/2022 23:01

I cant remember who else here had Pre-eclampsia?
But if you see this, can I ask how far you were when you had it?
I was diagnosed at 24weeks, DD born at 27weeks, Ive had 3x dc since with no issue, close monotering..., but the last 4 days Ive had headaches ( only notiable symptom) i have midwife doing BP and Urine check tomorrow, Im am 23 weeks.
Im am v.tired at mo and I know I should be drinking more than what I have been, Im hoping Im simply dehydrated

ToffeeEl · 29/11/2022 00:06

Has anyone had the nhs antenatal classes before, or have them booked for this time? I've got no idea about them or when I'm even supposed to be scheduling them in

hellosunshineagainxxx · 29/11/2022 00:48

24 weeks and husband can feel kicks now, he felt some little ones last week but today they have been strong and so easy for him to feel! So much earlier than with my first even though I have an anterior placenta this time too 🥰 so special, just waiting for my little boy to be around when he does this big kicks so he can feel too! Most of my babys movement is in the evening haha

I had them with my first but booked them around 30 weeks, tbh they were rubbish I got more info from buying books

hol92 · 27/11/2022 08:43

Congratulations :D 💙

is anyone else eating Brie cooked? Or completely avoiding it? I want it a lot as a starter which will be cooked but then worry of the risks! X

I cook it to death :) its nice mega melty on a baguette!

I know the risk uncooked is small but listeria rates have risen recently and it's not worth the risks of stillbirth and preterm labour not matter how small imo. But everyone has to make their own choices/risk assessment.

Choc2022 · 29/11/2022 03:54

Handy to know about books. Any particular book you reccomend for ftm?

Me 🙋‍♀️ it's good you're getting checked, better to be safe than sorry. Hopefully you don't have it yet/it stays mild if you do. I can't imagine how scary it was having a 27 weeker

OP posts:
TeddyBeans · 29/11/2022 12:15

@Cats23 oh I was 39 weeks last time so not comparable to your experience unfortunately

OP posts:
havanamama · 29/11/2022 12:36

I’m 26 weeks and grateful with every day that goes past that baby is growing inside of me rather than outside. The Pampers premature baby advertisement is scary!

havanamama · 29/11/2022 12:37

can anyone give guidance on sleeping bags? How many togs are needed for the newborn stage? Baby is due at the start of March.

Dreamingof3 · 29/11/2022 13:49

@havanamama it will depend on the room temperature. There are guides online for what they should wear for different temperatures. Also a lot of them will have a minimum weight so keep an eye on that x
