It still feels very early but I’m taking a leap of faith and starting a thread here.

Just found out yesterday that I’m due at the very start of August.

Anybody else yet?

@TheBirdintheCave I’ve told a fairly equivalent bunch I’d say. Glad it’s not just me.

I'm feeling so sick today... it feels so early but I had hyperemesis with my last pregnancy that started really early so I'm dreading it happening again!

I've told my parents and a couple of friends and a couple of colleagues (I'm a midwife so didn't want them to see my name pop up on any spreadsheets before I'd told them!). When I had my mmc I was so glad I'd told people as afterwards there was so much support... but also people had been able to enjoy the happiness of me being pregnant too

AnnieApple123 · 22/11/2022 09:36

Oh that must be worry @ellie0605 . I really hope you have a better time this pregnancy.

I’ve been thinking the same about support if I were to miscarry. I’d probably end up telling certain people retrospectively anyway so might as well tell them now.

My toddler has managed to knock over this morning’s sample cup and splash some in his hair. Just off to wash it now…

@ellie0605 I'm sorry you had hyperemesis last time :( I hope it doesn't hit you again. I had basically constant nausea with my son from week 6 to 19 and that was bad enough so I can't imagine how much worse it must be for someone with hyperemesis.

ChloeN · 22/11/2022 10:38

@AnnieApple123 @TheBirdintheCave @ellie0605 ive told my mum & dad. Is it totally unrealistic to think I’d be able to not tell anyone else till after 20 weeks lol🤣

AnnieApple123 · 22/11/2022 10:48

@ChloeN Last time I didn’t want clients to know until as late as possible. I was due May and managed to get away with not telling them until returning to work after Xmas when I was just over 20 weeks. The fact that it was winter and I was wearing. lots of thick layers of clothes helped I think. That could be useful this time too?

I haven't told anyone yet but I'm planning to tell my mum, dad, sister and brother in law this weekend. We will also tell my DH mum and maybe his sister. After my MC, I found it difficult telling my loved ones out of the blue, so this way at least if the pregnancy doesn't progress, they can be there for instant support.

I am worried about how I'll hide from my friends around Christmas time as there is a night out planned and I'll still be at that dodgy time of 7-8 weeks. But I'll think about it when the time comes. If they see me not having a drink over Christmas, they will definitely guess 😂

Also I'm in two minds about telling my manager as my job can include heavy manual handling of people, so I need to think about this one. Ideally, I wouldn't tell them until after 12 weeks but I may have to...

ChloeN · 22/11/2022 11:10

@AnnieApple123 Yeah I guess 20 weeks will be about March time so still really cold, I wear quite baggy stuff anyway so hopefully no one will notice, but look what one of my clients sent me today, wtf how does she know 🤣 she knows about the mc but still

@Mulner88 i was the same it’s nice particularly nice to only share the bad news but I just don’t want to tell anyone, I’m not quite sure why tbh!

Due August 2023?
DesertSnow · 22/11/2022 11:26

Hello all, would it be ok if I join please? NHS calculator gives me a due date of 2nd August. This would be my first.

Just praying it sticks! I'm worried about the risk of a chemical or miscarriage - I have a short luteal phase (7-8 days) which is often a symptom of low progesterone. I still can't believe I'm pregnant even with that! I'm worried line isn't dark enough - would anyone be so kind as to let me know what they think of the attached pic? Top is 12DPO and bottom is 14DPO (today).

In terms of symptoms, I've had uncomfortable boobs and a constant feeling of being full (though not nauseous) as well as some twinges. Today I'm also really tired.

Nice to meet you all and fingers crossed for sticky beans!

AnnieApple123 · 22/11/2022 11:27

Welcome @DesertSnow ! That looks like great progression.

AnnieApple123 · 22/11/2022 11:31

That’s bizarre @ChloeN !

I look after my son full-time so don’t work currently, yet when I did I was genuinely grateful that my clients never showed much interest in my personal life.

Welcome @DesertSnow . I'd be happy with those tests! Congrats ☺️

TheBirdintheCave · 22/11/2022 11:35

Welcome, @DesertSnow and congratulations :)

ChloeN · 22/11/2022 11:48

@AnnieApple123 i know!! I get asked at least once a day when I’ll be having a baby 🤦🏻‍♀️

@DesertSnow congratulations lovely! Xx

DesertSnow · 22/11/2022 13:36

Thank you so much for your kind welcome @AnnieApple123 @Mulner88 @ChloeN, congratulations to all of you too! Looking forward to chatting more. And thanks for the reassurance with the tests - I feel a bit clueless!

Has anyone organised their booking in appointment yet? I'm thinking I'll wait for a bit - though not too long, as timing wise it looks like it'll be Christmas/New Year so I imagine could be harder to get an appointment.

DesertSnow · 22/11/2022 13:37

and the @TheBirdintheCave thank you to you too! And congrats!

ChloeN · 22/11/2022 14:17

@DesertSnow not yet! I wasn’t sure when to do it really… but yes think 8 weeks would fall the week before Christmas and I guess they wouldn’t work between Christmas and new year??🤷🏼‍♀️

TheBirdintheCave · 22/11/2022 14:30

I'm waiting until six weeks to self refer to our local hospital. I'd feel like I was jinxing myself if I did it any earlier than that and I imagine it will still be hard for me to press the button even then!

With my son I referred the day I found out 😂

AnnieApple123 · 22/11/2022 15:27

I’ve been to the doctor already and had a blood test as I take thyroxine and my levels need to be carefully monitored in early pregnancy so that the dosage can be adjusted accordingly. I’ve also got my maternity exemption certificate so the prescriptions become free.

OP posts:
DesertSnow · 22/11/2022 15:43

@AnnieApple123 great that you've got the prescription certificate sorted.

@ChloeN @TheBirdintheCave I don't want to jinx it either and think any other time of year I'd wait till at least 6 weeks, but given the timing I think I'll self-refer if I get to 5 weeks.

Bit freaked out as having some cramping this afternoon but trying not to spiral.

AnnieApple123 · 22/11/2022 17:16

I totally understand not wanting to jinx it. If my situation were different, I think I’d feel the same.

OP posts:
GagaBinks · 22/11/2022 17:38

I've still not got any symptoms but I think I'm only 4+3 so really too early to tell. Some people wouldn't even know they were pregnant yet.

Bring on the sore boobs and nausea so I know this is real and not just a line on a stick haha

MsRT · 22/11/2022 18:17

Welcome @DesertSnow and congratulations!

I’ve only told my sisters. I’m a little bit reluctant to tell anyone else until 12 weeks! We lost my Mum in September and I don’t want to bring anymore bad news if anything was to happen. I hope that makes sense!

ah I’m so relieved. I ordered the first responses which came yesterday because I was panicking so much about the lack of progression on my cheap tests. This is less than 24 hour difference and I can tell it’s getting darker 🙌🏻

Due August 2023?
TheBirdintheCave · 22/11/2022 18:49

@MsRT Good looking lines! :D Sorry to hear about your mum :(

ChloeN · 22/11/2022 19:15

@MsRT yes I totally get there, sorry to hear of your loss😔 your lines look good I’m glad you’re seeing progression!! Have you made it past AF due date now? Xx
