It still feels very early but I’m taking a leap of faith and starting a thread here.

Just found out yesterday that I’m due at the very start of August.

Anybody else yet?

@ChloeN I’m not surprised, she sounds awful! At least your own parents sound lovely and supportive. Well we got married in the summer so I don’t think it will come as a massive surprise as we’d always said we would try once we were married. But I think they’ll still be excited, I hope so anyway! I think I’m going to have to tell my mum before Christmas, just popped round for a cuppa and she asked what wine she should get for Christmas Day 🙈 xx

PumpkinEverything · 04/12/2022 15:57

I’m so thankful my family aren’t big drinkers so I could actually get away without drinking there. It’s my work Christmas dinner on Friday though and I’m already anxious and overthinking it 😅 I’ve a team meeting and then 3 hours from when I finish work before our dinner as whoever organised it must have thought people would want to go drinking before (my team aren’t massive drinkers and majority are much older than me, and also don’t live close by so want to get home earlier 😂). I’m about 20 mins drive so I think I’m going to go home and then use the excuse that I can’t get a lift home because my husband has my daughter and can’t leave, so I need to drive. But also it’s forecast snow now and I’m an anxious driver, having only started driving properly in the summer after a long break, so I don’t know what to do 😔 I’m scared if I lie and say I’m driving, but actually get a lift, someone will try to walk me to my car 😂😂😂 how dare they be nice!

ChloeN · 04/12/2022 16:02

@buttercupbee mine are lovely luckily! Oh I’m sure they’ll be over the moon for you☺️xx

@PumpkinEverything oh its so awkward to get away with not drinking, I never drink and always get asked why not, I just don’t like it but I don’t know why people have to make such a big deal when you chose not too🙄 my family don’t drink much either so I’ll be okay with the ones I haven’t told🤞🏻

Bit random but has anyone noticed their nipples change colours when they hurt? One of mine keeps going an odd dark purple kind of shade 🙈🤣

AnnieApple123 · 04/12/2022 16:15

@ChloeN I’ll reply properly later but yes! My 2.5 year-old spotted this before I did. He said, ‘Mummy why have your nibbles gone black around the edges?’ He said he didn’t like them like that and wanted me to wash them.

This thread moves fast!
@AnnieApple123 I am hoping DS will self wean as pregnancy goes on. I don't find the prospect of tandem feeding appealing at all, but DS I such a boob monster.
@TheBirdintheCave he eventually caught up, but not until well into pregnancy.

I will be going for private NIPT as well, but I will book that if early scan is all ok.

MsRT · 04/12/2022 17:25

Welcome and congratulations to all the newbies!

Sorry I’ve been super quiet over the weekend. I’m absolutely knackered and nausea has well and truly kicked in. Feel like I’m moaning constantly already… my poor partner 🤣

AnnieApple123 · 04/12/2022 17:29

Apologies as I meant to include this graph with the following post earlier (not sure I can blame ‘baby brain’ yet!)…

@somuchtolearnabout I was looking at this graph yesterday and thinking that 12 weeks seems fairly random anyway, except for coinciding with the timing of the dating scan. There’s not much difference between 10 weeks and 12. I know none of us is quite there yet but you’re fairly safe by 7-8 (especially if you’ve had an early scan to confirm heartbeat).

Due August 2023?

@AnnieApple123 in our area there are people who travel around 40 minutes to the closest hospital and it's never usually an issue 🥰
I've been tempted to do a shift in maternity soon too try and see if it's changed (alot of chatter of change recently) to see if it will maybe be enough to stop me stressing about where to go!

Thanks, that’s really reassuring to hear. Are you a nurse? I missed that.

OP posts:
sally16 · 04/12/2022 17:33

@AnnieApple123 no not a nurse! Just able to switch up departments on the bank! I've heard lovely story's but if I see the midwives who ruined everything last time I think I'd have a bit of a breakdown 🤦🏼‍♀️

AnnieApple123 · 04/12/2022 17:43

@Rowanandremy That’s exactly how I feel, that giving birth in that particular hospital ‘just wouldn’t sit right with me.’ You’ve hit the nail on the head there. As @buttercupbee says, if I tried to labour at home, fear of transferring there would likely put me in the wrong mindset before I’d even started.

Welcome @Judethepud and @LMM91x .

W@Butterflies12 . I do hope your situation improves soon. Is your mum able to communicate?

Ohhh @PumpkinEverything where do you live that’s forecast snow?

@UsernameNotPresent We’re down to just a bedtime feed now but it’s getting increasingly painful now. Apparently my milk has started to taste spicy.

Gosh I'm absolutely wiped out. Fatigue is really hitting me now. I think a few people were talking about disturbing dreams - I had one a couple of nights ago where I was bleeding a lot which was a bit horrid, it felt so vivid and real.

Interesting to hear what other people are doing in terms of telling people. DH wants to tell his family but I want to hold off till 8 week scan at least. But his family were having a go at him for why we're not staying over at his cousin's house for Xmas - we'd be sleeping on the floor and I'm finding sleeping in my own bed uncomfortable enough with my boobs so I vetoed it and we've given other excuses - but would be much easier to give the real reason.

Welcome and congrats to @katiehx,@Shannon88 (gosh what a whirlwind!), @elarcoiris, @sally16 , @marleyandme, @PO1990, @Judethepud, @Butterflies12, @LMM91x and of course @buttercupbee (lovely to see you here from the short lp thread!)

@buttercupbee if you didn't want to tell people, you could always say you're trying. I got married last month so will go with that excuse for family events up till Christmas (there's a few birthdays) when we're hoping the 8 week scan will give us the reassurance to tell.

Really sorry to hear your suspicions @sinloutox - fingers crossed scan shows good news and you'll be back soon.

@CityKity I'm also concerned about weight gain as have quite bad body issues but I know it's all for the right reasons and I'm trying to make peace with it.

DesertSnow · 04/12/2022 18:01

I have a question for anyone who is reasonably active - I think @CityKity said she is but not sure who else is... Are you carrying on with your normal exercise routine? I have been but today I went for a run and had quite a lot of discharge (white, no spotting or anything). May be coincidence but just concerned about doing too much. Of course I will discuss with my midwife but they've not been in touch about an appointment yet and was just wondering what others are doing with regards to exercise?

sally16 · 04/12/2022 18:02

What weeks everyone booked earlys cans for? This is second baby and I did 10 weeks last time but impatient already 😅
And I'm recovering from covid (how embarrassing getting it after so long 🫠) so need something to look forward too!
Also.. any superstitions on morning sickness? None last time with my son... wrecked with it this time 👀
So glad to find another busy due in thread again!

sally16 · 04/12/2022 18:03

@DesertSnow I'm not active but my past pregnancy I had so much discharge the entire time! Was told it was totally normal and not too worry. I chose to wear a panty liner though! Xx

MsRT · 04/12/2022 18:07

@DesertSnow i feel the exact same with the fatigue! X

Chocolotandtea · 04/12/2022 18:08

I has a girls night out last night so told my closest friends. They were really delighted for me so was lovely.

Saying that, I’ve not had a lot of pregnancy symptoms but the ones I did have seem to have disappeared. Trying not to think about it too much but I do have a sinking feeling something is wrong.

3 weeks to go for 8 week scan

elarcoiris · 04/12/2022 18:14

@DesertSnow I do a reasonable amount of exercise - mostly weights classes, yoga and a bit of spinning - and planning on keeping it up as long as I don’t feel too rubbish. All the trainers at my gym are pre/post natally trained anyway but don’t think there’s any issue with keeping up anything that you’re already used to doing, but probably not the time to start something new and strenuous.

ChloeN · 04/12/2022 18:30

@Chocolotandtea its hard when symptoms come and go, mine seem to change each day throughout the day! Everywhere I read it says it’s normal but hard not to worry!

Mulner88 · 04/12/2022 18:30

A lot to catch up on over the past couple days! Welcome to all the newcomers to the group 😊

@DesertSnow I plan on continuing but adapting where needed depending how tired I am. I haven't done anything since I found out I was pregnant just because it's been a whirlwind mentally, but I plan to start back this week to my exercise routine.

I've my first early scan tomorrow and really dreading it to be honest. When I think about it I feel sick as obviously the last time wasn't a great experience. Fingers crossed it's viable 🤞🏼 I haven't tested in a week and anxious about that too as feel like I don't know what's going on

ChloeN · 04/12/2022 18:33

@Mulner88 good luck tomorrow lovely I’ll be thinking of you💕

TheBirdintheCave · 04/12/2022 18:43

@Mulner88 Good luck for tomorrow! :D

Mulner88 · 04/12/2022 18:47

Thank you @TheBirdintheCave @ChloeN

I'll report back with hopefully good news!

lurchermummy · 04/12/2022 18:56

Awww congrats I have two August babies now 21 and 18! Enjoy xx
