Spink2022 · 11/11/2022 20:04

Hi me and a couple of other lucky ladies have got our BFPs following ivf and wanted to create a new thread for others on their early pregnancy journey. I am 5+2 and my first scan is at 6+6. I’m very nervous something will go wrong.

Currently my symptoms are:

  • very heavy, swollen, sore breasts
  • some morning sickness
  • burping and gas
  • bloated
  • tiredness

Thank you so much @itshimi I was lifting my toddler in and out of his cot last night as he was super poorly so I'm hoping maybe that's why! Will update you guys after xx

itshimi · 25/11/2022 10:27

@NS05 that might be it. Fingers crossed, I have a feeling it's all going to be well x

Though have you generally been very careful about lifting things? I've been warned to not lift anything over 3-4 kg so been quite careful but just don't know where to draw the line and when I'm being paranoid!

NS05 · 25/11/2022 10:31

@itshimi I've been trying to but I do need to do nursery drop off/pick ups so have to put him in car seat- he weighs 2.5 stone so quite heavy. My husband normally does bath at the moment/lifts him into cot for the night but he's been off nursery the last two days so I've had to do everything alone. I've been resting for an hour drinking lots of water and it seems to have stopped for now so praying it's ok. Thanks so much for the support!

itshimi · 25/11/2022 10:46

@NS05 Honestly you just have to do what you can. I think our bodies are much more resilient than we give them credit for, but it's just so much more precious with an IVF pregnancy so it feels much more significant.

Get some rest, try and stay distracted! Watch something you enjoy and anything you need we're all here x

Spink2022 · 25/11/2022 11:13

@NS05 im so sorry you’re having this terrifying experience. Brown is old blood and I’ve read so many times that it’s not always a concern but also completely get that you’re terrified because I would be too. I’m so so glad you’ve got a scan today. I’ve got everything crossed for you and hope you get to see a little heartbeat 💗 sending you loads of love and support. Please message if there’s anything we can do xx

NS05 · 25/11/2022 13:28

Strong heartbeat measuring 7w thank the lord! I burst into tears when she told me! Thank you so much for all the support 🙏

itshimi · 25/11/2022 13:30

@NS05 YAYYYY! Fantastic news! So glad you had the scan and I bet now feel much much much better. Onwards and upwards! ❤️

Spink2022 · 25/11/2022 13:33

@NS05 absolutely amazing news!! I’m so so happy for you! What a day!

do you know what your babies measurement was? Im a bit worried mines a little small. It was only 5.1mm at 6+6. The nurse said that measurement dating would be 6+5 but it’s just a guide. But online it says 7weeks should be 10mm! Which seems hugely different. This could 100% be a case of keeping off dr google

@NS05 YAY! What a relief!! So happy for you, you can now just take a deep breathe and enjoy your weekend ❤️

maybebaby2023 · 25/11/2022 13:46

@NS05 huge congratulations to you. So pleased 💗

NS05 · 25/11/2022 14:00

Thanks everyone honestly was shaking! I'm not sure @Spink2022 it just said 7w0d on screen I'm sure a couple of days won't matter at all! She said heartbeat was 136bpm and anything over 120 is good so that's a relief! Hope you are all feeling ok ❤️

Spink2022 · 25/11/2022 14:25

@NS05 that sounds extremely positive! i have no idea of mines heartbeat rate.

are you going to celebrate?!

NS05 · 25/11/2022 14:32

@Spink2022 I feel like I need a drink but obv can't 🤣 we are going to have a nice dinner tonight!

Are you gonna have another scan before 12w? I think I may have another at 9w!

Spink2022 · 25/11/2022 14:43

@NS05 a glass of Prosecco sounds so good right now lol. well I am 12w on 28th dec so there’s no chance I’ll have my scan until more like 14w. We’re thinking of having a private one on 23rd dec so that will be 11+2

I am tempted by another one earlier but they’re so expensive! And I’m so worried about something being wrong at a private scan and then they dont know what to do because they’re not medical professionals.

so I’m totally undecided 😂

I know I'm going to have a think but I'm def not waiting until mine on the 9th Jan! Will try and just have one more in between, there's a place near me that does them for £85 so not terrible, the one I just got at my clinic was £300!

I was also going to do harmony test but that's gone up to £500 so think I'll leave it and just do the nhs one!

Sezzza · 25/11/2022 14:50

@NS05 such wonderful news and a massive relief for you. You poor thing, what a terrible scare. I am so pleased they got you straight in for reassurance xx

Spink2022 · 25/11/2022 14:53

@NS05 did you have to pay for your scan today???! Wtf??

what is a harmony one?

theyre about £80 around here too. My clinic recommended using private ones for inbetween if I want to instead of using theirs because theirs is £240

OP posts:
NS05 · 25/11/2022 16:06

@Spink2022 yes I'm private so literally have to pay for everything and anything! Will def go somewhere local next time for my scan!

A harmony tests for things like Down syndrome, Edwards etc and you can find out gender at 10 weeks. Nhs do a test for these things but it's not as accurate. I did it last time but don't think I will this time as it's too much!

Spink2022 · 25/11/2022 16:32

@NS05 of course you’re private. That’s so bloody expensive!!

ah okay yes I don’t think I’ll bother. I’ll just wait until the nhs one too. I just want a healthy baby at the end 💗 I don’t want to swap peeing on a stick for scans with my obsession so im thinking I’ll stick to one at 11 weeks. We want to tell some of our family on Xmas day

@NS05 thats great that everything was ok and you got your scan, lest your mind is at ease.

hi @itshimi welcome to thread, that’s great news for your BFP ! will you be getting a 2nd bHCG taken to check the increase ?

I just got my second HCG and it was 1372 so that’s doubling every 31 hours so it’s nice results .. I am 4+5 today.. 10 days to wait now until my scan at 6+2 they are doing it .. silently excited .. just praying for a nice healthy heart beat and happy healthy baby now, which is hard after a MMC !

the clinic contacted my GP though to ask him to prescribe me folic acid , he prescribed 5mg .. how much dose is everyone else taking ? I already take the seven seas multi-vitamins which have the usual 400 in along with lots of other things? Am not sure wether to take such a high dose, the nurse I spoke to wasn’t sure why they prescribed such a high dose and until doc can call me next week I have just to keep taking what I am already. 🤷🏼‍♀️

hope everyone else is good 😊

Spink2022 · 25/11/2022 16:53

@hopefullsosbry amazing news on your hcg!! Have you got many symptoms yet?

I just checked my tablets and they’ve got 400ug in. I’m taking the pregnacare max with the omega 3 tablets in because I don’t really eat fish.

OP posts:
hopefullsosbry · 25/11/2022 17:01

@Spink2022 hi yeh that’s what I am taking at the min , 400ug .. 5mg is more than double the 400 amount she said usually they prescribe 5mg if you are anaemic or for other reasons but av not been made aware of any other reason to take such a high dose ? I’ll just keep taking my usual, yes I have sore boobs on and off , pelvic cramps on and off and feel so absolutely tired, and peeing and eating non stop .. 🙄 all good though .. long May they continue, not had any nausea yet but the seven seas multi-vitamin has ginger in it so they may help with that ? How are you feeling ? How far along are you now ? Xx

Spink2022 · 25/11/2022 17:08

@hopefullsosbry those are good symptoms to have! I’m 7+2 and I’ve been sick every day at least once for 2 weeks 🫣 I have waves of suddenly being ravenous and needing salty carbs. Loads of spots. Really big hard boobs and nipples which are sore. Very bloated swollen belly. “Baby brain” has definitely started hitting 😂 and im tired but not as exhausted as I was a couple of weeks ago! im also seriously thirsty and weeing a lot. And getting vivid dreams. It sounds like a lot when you list it like that!

my mood definitely goes up and down from day to day. So that’s got to be the hormones. Day to day I feel like time is dragging but it’s been 3 weeks since I tested positive so that’s nearly a qtr of the 1st trimester and that seems crazy fast so I’m hopeful with Christmas time will pass quickly until my 12w/14w scan

hopefullsosbry · 25/11/2022 17:15

Awh haha .. yeh I forgot about the thirst .. I get that too lol 😂.. Awh yes am sure the time will go quicker over Xmas and new year with lots of distractions and all the festive to take your mind of it all a bit .. and you will be into your 2 trimester before you know it .. that’s so exciting .. 😊xx
