Spink2022 · 11/11/2022 20:04

Hi me and a couple of other lucky ladies have got our BFPs following ivf and wanted to create a new thread for others on their early pregnancy journey. I am 5+2 and my first scan is at 6+6. I’m very nervous something will go wrong.

Currently my symptoms are:

  • very heavy, swollen, sore breasts
  • some morning sickness
  • burping and gas
  • bloated
  • tiredness

Such amazing numbers @hopefullsosbry you must be so happy and now can enjoy the weekend! I'm just on normal pregnacare and vitamin d xx

itshimi · 25/11/2022 20:12

Hey @hopefullsosbry! So our doctor has said no need to repeat the bHCG. We were considering doing it anyway, but he's been amazing so far, so will probably just go with their schedule. I'll probably buy a few regular pee tests to check, mainly just to see if the line gets darker 😂

He's just scheduled us in for a scan on 14th December by when I will be 4+6 and said we will be checking progesterone levels too.

I've been asked to just take the Pregnacare max multivitamin with the omega, and that 400 of folic acid is plenty. 400 + 500 sounds like a lot! Is there a thing as taking too much?

itshimi · 25/11/2022 20:16

Also a general question for everyone. I'm currently 2+1 and have had cramps off and on for the last week. I wake up every night to pee at about 3-4am and just can't sleep after. My back aches and I feel very tired/grumpy/snappy.

I know most of it is expected, but the cramps worry me a little! Has anyone else experienced this? They're not very painful or severe, just feel like menstrual PMSy cramps on and off.

I'm excited about all the symptoms but hope the mood swings don't hit me too bad 😞

hopefullsosbry · 25/11/2022 20:33

@itshimi Prob the 1st symptom I got was a sore back, mild pelvic cramping rather than period cramps and twinging in my boobs.. I would say my period cramps are slightly higher in my tummy , where these cramps felt lower on my pelvic floor if you know what I mean ?! I guess that was diff this time than my last 3 miscarriages was that the cramps came and went again, where with the mc they got stronger, I feel the lack of cramps for half a day was a good sign , hope this makes sense ?

I was just to take either the 5mg or the 400.. not to take both but the fertility clinic got back and said they are not sure why my GP prescribed the 5mg and they didn’t see any reason why I should be on the higher dose so just to continue with what I am taking .. 🤷🏼‍♀️😊

itshimi · 25/11/2022 20:37

@hopefullsosbry Oh I see! That's actually really helpful. Sounds horrible to have miscarried 😥 and I'm glad things are going well now x

Mine are more like waves. They come and go, almost the same intensity. It's usually worse if I'm sitting in a certain way or straining my stomach in any way. I'll keep an eye on it if it gets worse, but so far it's just been mild and consistent 🤞🏼

Good news about the folic acid! Pleased they figured it out before you started taking it! I don't know why they aren't more careful when these things are concerned 🤷🏻‍♀️

NS05 · 25/11/2022 20:38

@itshimi aren't you 4 plus 1 based on your dates? If so super normal to have lots of cramping. With my first pregnancy I had the most horrendous cramps everyday I kept having to get scans, it's def everything moving and stretching.

This time not as much but I think because it's my second time round but I've def been getting some low down in my abdomen and also up and down my legs! Def don't panic as your body is changing so much it's super normal!

itshimi · 25/11/2022 20:42

@NS05 I'm actually so very confused by how the dates are worked out! So my EC was 10th November and transfer was 15th Nov. So I've been counting it from the day of EC.

Have I been doing it wrong? 🧐

Very relieved to know the cramps are common. It's my first time and I only associate these with period cramps so I was a bit alarmed 😆

NS05 · 25/11/2022 20:45

Yes you're 4 plus 1 🥰 15 nov was the date of my transfer with my son so I think your due date should be 3rd august!

itshimi · 25/11/2022 20:46

@NS05 it is!! Exactly 3rd Nov! What a strange coincidence 😂😘

itshimi · 25/11/2022 20:46

Sorry I mean 3rd August 😋

itshimi · 25/11/2022 20:50

@NS05 This might be a silly question but how is this calculated?? I'm so baffled where the 4 came from! My doctor said something about this too, but I thought I misheard him 🤨 I've been assuming I'm 2+1😋

NS05 · 25/11/2022 20:52

So basically you always add 2 weeks on so when you get a 5 day transfer you are already 2 plus 5 if that makes sense! @itshimi

itshimi · 25/11/2022 20:54

@NS05 That makes sense, thank you!! Great now I can look at the correct symptoms 😂 Thank you so much for your help! I really appreciate it xx

hopefullsosbry · 25/11/2022 20:59

@itshimi it is calculated from the 1st day of your last period .. as that is the start of your cycle .. so although your not actually preg at that point .. you are on your period and then ovulating for the 1at two weeks of that .. they count that as week 1 and 2 .. so week 4 really starts from the day you notice your missed period .. hope this helps xx🥰

hopefullsosbry · 25/11/2022 21:03

But to make it more confusing .. they count it week 4 +1 or 4 + 4 etc when actually you are in your 5th week by then .. so 4 + 4 would be 4 days into week 5 of pregnancy.. so you would look at week 5 development for pregnancy. Does that make sense .. it’s really confusing lol xx

itshimi · 25/11/2022 21:08

@hopefullsosbry oh that really clears it up. It does make sense to include the ovulation.

As confusing as it is, it does actually make sense re the week 5 but, as the additional days mean you're in the next week.

Very very helpful thank you so much lovely xx knowing it's 4 weeks has cheered me up quite a bit 😋

hopefullsosbry · 25/11/2022 21:09

So I am 4 weeks + 5 .. so I am actully 5 days into my week 5 .. come Sunday I will be 5 weeks but that will be the end of my 5 th week of pregnancy .. some Monday will be 5+ 1 which is my 1st day into week 6 .. I think this is right anyways ?! Xx

LBFseBrom · 25/11/2022 21:12

Congratulations! It makes a change to hear of a successful IVF.

Your symptoms are quite normal for early pregnancy, you'll feel better in a short while.

Good luck!

PomJuice · 25/11/2022 22:41

This is wonderful news!! Wishing you all the best!

I am new to the forum as well. I had light pink spotting today and am panicking but my clinic is closed for the day.

Spink2022 · 26/11/2022 07:15

@PomJuice welcome! i had light pink spotting caused by the pessaries early one. It stopped very quickly and everything was fine 💗

Welcome @PomJuice - and congratulations!

Feel I may have a bit of nausea coming today. Almost feels like I’m car sick. Going out for lunch in two hours and can’t face it 😂

@itshimi Ive had cramping since just before I got my positive test. Mine is mainly at night and lasts about 10mins each time and I’m 99% sure it’s digestion/constipation related. GLAMOUR!

NS05 · 26/11/2022 13:27

@PomJuice welcome! I had spotting at implantation and yesterday! I was assured it's normal unless bright fresh blood.

Ems123456789 · 26/11/2022 14:38

Hi everyone, wondering If I could join. I’ve been on another thread and acouple of the ladies mentioned this one. I’ll be 5 weeks on Wednesday after my 3rd ivf attempt.
I’ve just had my first BhCg on Friday (4 weeks 2 days which was 268) and going for my second on Monday. Feeling nervous as last time my bhcg went down and I was told I’d miscarry but it actually ended up being an ectopic. Anyway I am trying to stay positive despite this. I had been feeling quite nauseous last few days but it’s a bit better today, does it come and go for others? Other thing I’ve got which I didn’t expect is insomnia (4am seems to be my new time to start the day) and quite a rapid heartbeat. I just did mine and it was 90bpm resting which is high for me. I hope these are all going signs. Sending love to everyone on this journey!

itshimi · 26/11/2022 15:02

@Ems123456789 Welcome!

Hope the test goes well and keeps increasing! I've been told I don't need to do another bHCG, so am a tiny bit worried but trying to stay focussed on just the daily bits. Try not to worry too much, your numbers are good already!

I've had mainly insomnia (I managed to sleep until 5am today so yay!) so far and I'm 4+3. I've also had cramps and back ache, but no nausea yet.

hopefullsosbry · 26/11/2022 16:53

@Ems123456789 good luck for Monday, will be an anxious time for you but that’s a great starting beta number , congratulations! You are only a few days behind me, I am 4+6 today , 5 weeks tomorrow 🥰
