Pregnant after ivf - 5 weeks

Hi me and a couple of other lucky ladies have got our BFPs following ivf and wanted to create a new thread for others on their early pregnancy journey. I am 5+2 and my first scan is at 6+6. I’m very nervous something will go wrong.

Currently my symptoms are:

• very heavy, swollen, sore breasts
• some morning sickness
• burping and gas
• bloated
• tiredness

I just timed my heart rate im that ridiculous 🤣 I read it should be higher in pregnancy so counted beats per minute #nutcase

I can’t believe you’ve all got scans on the same day! So exciting!

I can relate to the boob poking 😅I’m sure I just do it out of habit now 😂 also @NS05 funny you should say about heart rate because mine has been so so high!! I kept checking it on my OHs watch and I get so out of breath doing stuff. That does seem to have eased a bit now and my nausea has eased and I’m just being sick once a day but keeping the rest of my meals down so I’m happy with that.

I forgot to say they said I could drop progesterone at 8 weeks so only 1 week left!

Isn’t it strange that they all do it so differently. You’d think there would be a standard practise

That’s good news @Spink2022 - I’m looking forward to the day I can stop doing mine. I hate having to factor in 30 minutes into my morning to do them 😂

After all my worries yesterday I was wide awake at 2am with sore boobs and feeling so hungry I felt sick. All i wanted was salt and vinegar Discos 😂

That's good @SunshineAndScience I keep getting headaches so hope that's something 🤣 only 4 days to go anyway now!

Been so stressed as my son is poorly and work has been super stressful - trying to remind myself to stay calm!

@SunshineAndScience salt and vinegar crisps are LIFE at the moment!!! That is such a good sign!

@NS05 aww bless you! It’s nearly the weekend! Then it will be your scan! You’re so close now. Do you have anything nice planned for the weekend to make it go fast?

@Spink2022 mostly toddler birthday parties 🤪 so will see if he's up to it and then going to the cinema with a friend! How about you?

im going to the winter good food show. Will be interesting with my sickness and my sense of smell 😂😂😂

is anyone else really really bloated and look really pregnant? I never had the smallest belly but it’s totally stuck out and swollen

@Spink2022 oh that sounds fun! Omg I literally look like I'm 5 months pregnant, my mum even said to me yesterday you're really showing aren't you- I was like thanks 🤣 it's def all the drugs too!

@NS05 its such a good day. I totally recommend going! They do it in different parts of the country.

im trying to hide it from my colleagues at work but it’s so hard! my buttons were straining today! I hope it goes down a bit when I come off the progesterone. I’m worried about the midwife weighing me and telling me I’m too heavy but I’ve had that fear instilled in me since my first fertility appointment! I hope they take into account all the weight you gain doing ivf. I havnt faced weighing myself yet but I might be brave tomorrow.

Hi everyone, I hope it's okay for me to join :)

I had my first round of IVF this month, EC on 10th Nov, Transfer on 15th Nov. We had our 9 day bHcG blood test yesterday and had a BFP! It's still early days so the level was 68, but the clinic said it's normal for the number of days we did the test after. Feeling so blessed and grateful that it was relatively smooth.

First scan is on 14th December, very nervous about it and also nervous about all the medication (I'm starting Lubion 25mg, Cyclogest and Progynova from tomorrow).

Have had some symptoms, which haven't been too bad:
Waking up to pee twice every night (not normal for me!)
Waking up with hot flushes 😥
Mild but regular cramping
Back ache
General tiredness

It's so great to read all your stories and am so glad to be able to have a space to share my experience too x

@Spink2022 I know I put on so much weight in my first pregnancy (4 stone) -1 stone was just the stress of ivf! I have nearly lost it all and terrified of being huge again so I'm gonna try and not be too bad but I feel like I've already gained loads from the drugs 🤦‍♀️ I feel like my boss keeps looking at my tummy it's so hard! I haven't been at my job long so I want to tell them as long as poss.

Luckily only a couple of spots(I actually work for a skincare company so have a good routine 🤣). You're def having a girl if your skin is bad!

@NS05 i might be brave and weigh this morning. Preferably after I’m sick 😅 I’ve only been in my job for 5 months. How long have you been there for? They passed me through probation early tho so that was good! Are spots associated with a girl? I always struggled with hormonal spots then I had a dermatologist treatment it made such a huge difference but had to stop a couple of years ago because of TTC and now all these hormones are flaring it back up. It’s a very small price to pay tho!

@Spink2022 and @NS05 My skin has been terrible!! I had a good skincare routine down and rarely got spots but now they’re popping up like nobodies business.

My bloating seems to be worse in the afternoon and evening - especially after dinner!

Winter food show sounds incredible - provided you’re not ill!

How is your little boy today @NS05 ?

Eeek, one working day and three sleeps. We can do this!

@Spink2022 and @NS05 my skin has actually strangely gotten better! And my hair too, the water around us is very hard and I always struggle with hair fall. Last few washes actually seem much better than they have in a long time!

@NS05 oh how have you been with Lubion so far? Is it the same as the rest of the shots or more painful? Ive been using ice before every shot and that's helped I think, but I've read that some women use heat after Lubion! I'm on the ghastly pessarys 3x a day, Lubion 1x a day and progynova 3x a day.

Dreading the damned pessarys. I would rather inject than shove things up 🙄😞

@itshimi gosh youre in a lot of hormones still. I’m only on the 3 pessaries. They make a hell of a mess and I’m sure they’re the cause of the bloating. Your hair and skin are such a nice perk!

@SunshineAndScience urgh the skin sucks doesn’t it! Nothing works on it. I’m just leaving it now. I agree about the bloating in the afternoon and evening. Have you got much on this weekend to keep you busy?

Guys I'm brown spotting today actually terrified. 😭

@NS05 Oh lovely, it could be nothing but I completely understand the terror. Any chance you can get a scan today for some reassurance? I know lots of people who had full on bleeding in their first trimester and now have healthy babies - I’m sure everything will be okay xxx

@SunshineAndScience they've managed to book me in for 1pm! I'm absolutely petrified and just dont think I can go through this again 😭

@NS05 Hoping and praying it's all positive. These signs can be so alarming but most cases it isn't anything worrisome and truly hoping thats where it is. Sending you lots of love. Not long to go, so hope you're managing okay for now xx
