Pregnant after ivf - 5 weeks

Hi me and a couple of other lucky ladies have got our BFPs following ivf and wanted to create a new thread for others on their early pregnancy journey. I am 5+2 and my first scan is at 6+6. I’m very nervous something will go wrong.

Currently my symptoms are:

• very heavy, swollen, sore breasts
• some morning sickness
• burping and gas
• bloated
• tiredness

Thanks for checking in @NS05 . How amazing that you have your 12 week scan booked in, although it’s another wait 🙈.

My scan is next Monday. Currently I am 5w and 6days. Nothing much really to report. I have been physically feeling ok. Tired but ok. It’s my hormones and mood that is giving me a difficult time. I have just had a set to with the post woman for beating my door down 😂. The poor thing! I’m all over the bloody place. One minute wanting to cry, then raging. I’d forgotten how bad a pregnant woman I am hahahah. I had the same with my daughter 11 years ago.

It was really fascinating reading other people’s experiences of a dry mouth at night. I thought I was just keeping my mouth open more!

@Spink2022 big day tomorrow!!!! How are you? My sickness only lasted a day which was fortunate.

@Sezzza ah we are the same day. At least we have each other 🤣 what time is yours? Mines 2.30pm!

I also have terrible moods and keep snapping at my husband so don't worry it's not just you lol!

@NS05 mine is at 1:30pm so really close to you!!! I am glad I’m not the only one snapping lol!

Hi everyone, had my scan this morning. We saw our little baby’s heartbeat which was incredible. The nurse showed us the oxygen going in and out in different colours and also the heartbeat in a different colour so we could see the speed clearly. They took so much time showing us and we went home with 3 images. Baby was measuring at 6+5 and I’m 6+6 today. She said the measurements are a guide so that’s really good. She had no concerns. She could see where our second embryo tried to implant too which I wasn’t expecting! Feeling very overwhelmed and exhausted!

im sick everyday now and there’s no stopping it lol but it’s totally worth it!

how is everyone doing?

oh and talking about crying the second she said there’s a heart beat I burst into floods of tears 😭😭😂 I really made the scan hard for her to see by sobbing so much 😂

Sorry I have been MIA, work and life has just been so busy. I have my scan next week so internally stressing. I thought IVF itself would cause anxiety but these waiting times are even worse. If I am a little less sore one day, I fear the worst and test. The dr took my hcg and it was over 5000 yesterday so quite a happy bunny! I might take the clearblue test to see if I get the 3+ weeks.

I'm still plodding along waiting for scan early December - am 5w 4 days. I've been so unbelievably tired tho! Feel like sickness may ramp up soon eek

so glad that most of you are moving along nicely. I had my scan yesterday (also got to see the heartbeat 💗) and graduated from the fertility clinic.

Today I was at the normal doctors and they did the usual bloods, urine etc. next appointment is in two weeks time and then I drop into the normal cycle of every 4 weeks for a docs visit.

feeling much more relieved now and am going to give up my peeing on a stick habit and try hard to enjoy the pregnancy.

@Bubbafever i think this wait was much worse than the ivf wait. Hcg of 5k is amazing!

@Baggingarea get plenty of naps in before that sickness hits! 🤢 i would also say listen to your body and eat whatever it wants! Carbs and salt galore for me!

@Germanlife congratulations!! That’s a lot of drs appointments! Is that the norm
and what I should expect? I’ve filled in a midwife’s form and been told I’ll get a call in the next week and that’s it! Also love the phrase graduated from the fertility clinic.

@Spink2022 weirdly I've been craving salt and creamy things!! Mmm salty goodness

@Baggingarea I never used to add salt to anything! I can’t stand sweet stuff like chocolate at the moment which is a change lol 😂

@Spink2022 i actually live in Germany, so it is managed differently to the UK. I think you get more check ups. So I wouldn’t compare my appointments to yours.

-for those with sickness! I have been having a plain salty cracker for the sickness and also the doc recommended ginger tea today.

Hi all, hope you don’t mind me joining in on your journeys and sharing mine with you all, got my BFP with my FET, had my 1st bHCG which was 150, so I am 4+3 today, got my 1st scan booked in for 6 December, (still two weeks away ) amd I have a 2nd beta on Friday to check it is doubling ok.

Reading through the thread it’s so lovely to hear lots of positives, seeing your babies on the scans etc, I hope I make it that far 🤞🏽.. had 3 MC and 3 other failed transfers, this is my 4th transfer so fingers crossed.

Feeling so anxious today, worrying that my symptoms have dropped off! Eugh, such an up and down time. Would love to have got positive test and just be elated! 5 sleeps til scan day.

How’s everyone else doing?

@SunshineAndScience I'm the same been super anxious all day as haven't felt anything 😞 5 more sleeps for me too. I'm desp to just go tomorrow for one but I know it isn't long to wait now 🙈

@NS05 It’s horrible isn’t it. I think I’m just worried because I’ve had two missed miscarriages before and then it’s taken 7 years to get a positive test. And I just don’t want to be at square one again. Who would have guessed I’d be desperate for sore boobs, sickness and constipation?! The glamour!

Oh gosh @SunshineAndScience that's so tough really hoping this is it for you! My last was a MMC and that's why im also feeling anxious. I felt like I had more symptoms with that pregnancy so who I guess it doesn't mean anything. With my son I also didn't have many symptoms but I do remember lots of cramping which I haven't had this time.

It's 2.30pm, yours? I'm desp to have it but then also terrified!

Oh bless you, it’s such a heartbreaking thing to go through! Cramping has one thing I have had a lot of but it’s eased off the last day or so. Mine is at 10:30 - eeek. Im the same, so desperate for it to be now but also don’t want it to come round too quickly in case it’s bad news!

Gonna put my big girl pants on, cook some pasta, and get an early night. And sporadically poke my boobs to see if they hurt 😂 xx

Haha .. I keep doing the boob poking also 😅
