Hi me and a couple of other lucky ladies have got our BFPs following ivf and wanted to create a new thread for others on their early pregnancy journey. I am 5+2 and my first scan is at 6+6. I’m very nervous something will go wrong.

Currently my symptoms are:

  • very heavy, swollen, sore breasts
  • some morning sickness
  • burping and gas
  • bloated
  • tiredness

Good luck today @Nerdalert

@hopefullsosbry Baby was measuring 7w6d and I should be 8w5d. But at my last scan I was already 3 days behind so not sure when they passed, sometime in the last week I’m guessing. This is our third MMC now, just can’t believe our luck!

Really lovely to see some good news on here @maybebaby2023 - so happy for you xx

NS05 · 13/12/2022 10:17

@maybebaby2023 aw so happy for you! I'm also measuring ahead and was last time, no idea why but I did have a very big baby last time.

@SunshineAndScience I had exactly the same with my MMC also measured 3 days behind at 6w scan and it stopped growing 7w6d. I did a lot of research on it and 8w is the key stage when the embryo turns to a foetus and usually if there are chromosomal problems it won't develop any further. It did make me feel slightly better as I felt it wasn't my body that did anything it was the actually baby that wouldn't have been healthy. I've been thinking about you since yesterday and it really is so unfair to go through this again. I hope you have strong people around you that can support you during this time. Obviously all here if you want to vent or chat whenever ❤️❤️

Spink2022 · 13/12/2022 11:52

@maybebaby2023 what a beautiful clear scan! Congratulations! i hope you can enjoy your pregnancy with a bit less worry now ❤️

So not good news I'm afraid. Miscarriage confirmed, likely somewhere around 7 weeks from the measurements. Xx

So sorry @Nerdalert for your news ☹️. Sending you all the love, and hope you have a supportive group of people around you. It’s so tough this journey.

I’m so sorry @Nerdalert - it’s just so terribly terribly sad and unfair. Look after yourself, here if you need to chat. Lots of love xx

hopefullsosbry · 13/12/2022 18:55

@Nerdalert thinking of you, such a sad time .. it’s so unfair to have it taken away, my scan is next week and really nervous now that the same might happen to me .. it’s just so common to miscarry at 7/8 weeks , the stats actully say numbers go up at 7/8 weeks from 6 weeks .. 😫 hope you are ok and sending you love and hugs xx

hopefullsosbry · 13/12/2022 19:22

@SunshineAndScience @Nerdalert So what happens next ? Do they let you wait a while to see if it will come away naturally or will they do a D&C ? Hope you are ok and not getting to many cramps etc ? Do you still have pregnancy symptoms? Am dreading my scan now next week .. but what will be will be I guess Xx💖

SunshineAndScience · 14/12/2022 09:56

Thanks @NS05 - that does make me feel a bit better. I have 4 embryos on ice and I keep wondering about PGT testing…

@hopefullsosbry Try not to worry, statistically you’re far more like to have a successful pregnancy than not. I never had masses of symptoms anyway but I guess looking back they had petered off the last few days. I’ve stopped meds to see what happens and will go back to the hospital next week to discuss next steps.

Thinking of you @Nerdalert hope you managed to get some sleep last night. Xxx

Nerdalert · 14/12/2022 10:03

Morning everyone, yes I managed to eat and sleep. I have stopped my progesterone, was told if it was going to happen naturally then it would be within a week, if not to contact the hospital for medical intervention! Not really looking forward to any of it but would prefer not to spend Christmas in a hospital bed or having surgery!

Next steps would be the 1 little frosty we have in the freezer, then more fresh cycles.

NS05 · 14/12/2022 10:37

@SunshineAndScience yes that could def be a good option to discuss with your clinic!

Glad you are both feeling a bit better, I did opt for the operation when I had my MMC as I just wanted it over with and have to say it was painless and was done super quickly. I also went to the Portland as it was covered by my private healthcare, if you have private healthcare I'd def recommend this.

@hopefullsosbry I'm sure all will be well, try not to panic, your scan will be here before you know it!

NS05 · 14/12/2022 11:06

Also forgot to say amazing you both have Frosties as you could look to do another transfer in jan if you felt ready!

hopefullsosbry · 14/12/2022 12:11

thanks @NS05 its such a worry but there’s nothing that can be done , just have to let mother nature do what it is going to do whether it’s what we expect or not I guess. @SunshineAndScience @Nerdalert hope you are both a bit better today, it’s such a lot to process, especially with hormones etc .. I guess a positive is that you do have some in freezing and a FET isn’t as long a wait if it was another fresh cycle again. I know everyone on here is strangers but I think of you guys all the time and wish I could give you the biggest hug ! I know what’s it’s like and I could well be in the same boat again come next week 😫.. Sending virtual hugs all round !! 🤲🏼💖

Oh @habiller im so sorry. That’s heartbreaking. Pets bring so much comfort to our lives and are part of our day to day routine, I think this is especially heightened when going through infertility or loss. I’d be lost without my dog, he’s the only thing that’s kept me going this week. Sending you so much love xxx

NS05 · 15/12/2022 11:49

Hi all! Hope everyone is feeling a bit better today. Does anyone have any scans coming up?

My boss is off sick this week and we finish next Friday and I'm so excited to finally have a bit of a break!

My next scan is 28th the day I go away - I'm having a private nuchal scan as my nhs one isn't until over 13 weeks and I didn't want to wait as we have some family we are seeing abroad and would like to tell them if all ok!

maybebaby2023 · 15/12/2022 12:15

@NS05 thats exciting, less than 2 weeks to wait! Where are you off to? I’m working right through Xmas and NY so very jealous!!

NS05 · 15/12/2022 12:33

@maybebaby2023 just to Spain! Yes I feel like I need a break after all the stress 🤣

hopefullsosbry · 15/12/2022 14:31

@NS05 what is the earliest you can scan for the nuchal test through private ? Are you going any of the harmonium tests ? We were thinking about harmony, can be done after 10 weeks.
