Hi me and a couple of other lucky ladies have got our BFPs following ivf and wanted to create a new thread for others on their early pregnancy journey. I am 5+2 and my first scan is at 6+6. I’m very nervous something will go wrong.

Currently my symptoms are:

  • very heavy, swollen, sore breasts
  • some morning sickness
  • burping and gas
  • bloated
  • tiredness

my hearty rate hasn’t really changed much ? I have an Apple Watch so it has been recording my heart rate regularly since I got it a few months ago.. when I look bk the history it doesn't seem to have changed much from before I was pregnant .. hope that’s not a since there is no heart beat for my baby and it’s maybes not connected to my blood stream ?! Is everyone’s heart rate quite a bit higher ?there’s always something to worry about huh ? 😵‍💫

NS05 · 26/11/2022 17:37

Welcome @Ems123456789 those are great numbers! I wouldn't worry too much at all @hopefullsosbry it can vary so much throughout the day and it's such early days!

I booked another scan for 2 weeks time at 9 weeks lol. At least something to look forward to 🤣

hopefullsosbry · 26/11/2022 18:02

@NS05 thanks, only 9 more days till my scan so hopefully everything will be ok, that’s good you have another scan booked, I will totally be doing the same and booking one every two (ish) weeks until about 14 weeks … if I am lucky enough to get that far 🤞🏽

Ems123456789 · 26/11/2022 19:27

Thank you @itshimi @NS05

@itshimi good to know I’m not the only one with the insomnia.

@hopefullsosbry i wouldn’t worry re the heart rate thing, I don’t think it’s particularly common but I know I normally have low blood pressure so it’s probably just noticeably different for me.

@SunshineAndScience 😂 I think mine are a combination too of constipation and just general uterus adjusting to new things. These digestion issues are so bothersome! It's difficult to tell what's what really, so just trying to drop it and not bother unless it feels a lot more severe!

Spink2022 · 26/11/2022 21:01

Welcome to the group @Ems123456789

omg the digestive issues play havoc! And the constipation is def worse because I’m living on salty carbs and fat 😂

I havnt been sick today. First day in about 2 weeks I think so of course I panicked. But actually I think I’ve just eaten more and it’s settled my stomach. I did feel like I had the worst hangover ever all morning and I was soo moody.

I find it impossible to not read into symptoms. I checked my heart rate tonight and it’s 77bpm. A couple of weeks ago it was 112! And then last week 95 so it is slowly going down.

@habiller are you going to hold out and wait for your nhs scan or are you thinking of getting a private one inbetween. I think I’m just going to get one private at 11w just before Xmas so we have an image for family seen as our nhs one won’t be until about 14w

@Spink2022 hiw many weeks are now ? I am only 4+6 .. how many weeks were you when it was 112? Hope that’s your sickness starting to clear up a bit for you now !

maybebaby2023 · 26/11/2022 21:49

Hi everyone, hope you're all doing ok. I'm just lurking away in the background. I'll be 6 weeks on Monday and my only real symptoms of late are tiredness and heartburn. Still got another 2 weeks until our scan (12th Dec) and it's dragging so much. I'm trying not to spend as much time on Mumsnet as I'm finding all the talk about losses etc quite anxiety-inducing. That's on me though, there's absolutely nothing wrong with people talking about it but I just find it's making me even more paranoid! 😔

Spink2022 · 27/11/2022 07:04

@hopefullsosbry im 7+4. Oh I don’t think my heart rate increased until about 5 weeks +. At your stage I had only just tested so I don’t think I had many symptoms really.

@maybebaby2023 it’s nice to hear from you. I totally understand the anxiety. I think it can be a trigger. Do what you have to do and know we’re here as and when you need us.

Everyone that's saying they don't have many symptoms, I really think symptoms can come and go and none of us should worry about it! I have no symptoms still other than tiredness and cramping and saw the heartbeat. I just think it really doesn't mean anything. Our hormones are fluctuating so much right now and we are on so many drugs too ☺️

Good morning everyone, I'm the same as @maybebaby2023 I've been lurking for a little while. I am 6+2 today, this was my 4th ICSI transfer, and we put 2 embryos in! I have my scan on the 29th as I had a little bit of bleeding, I asked to get in a little earlier. I can't stop peeing on sticks, I do one every other day, that seems to keep the anxiety at bay mostly! I have what I now know, (thanks to google) is round ligament pain! This is my first ever pregnancy and I'm still not sure its real! Every day is an absolute miracle, I even enjoy the waves of nausea sometimes as it reminds me its real!

@habiller I'm honestly not sure how many have implanted, but one healthy heartbeat would be absolutely perfect! After all this time, I also wouldn't mind getting 2 for the price of 1 😁 I'm anxious about tuesday and them not being able to confirm or see a heartbeat. I will be 6+4.

SunshineAndScience · 27/11/2022 09:36

Welcome @Nerdalert and @Ems123456789 xx

Lovely to hear from you @maybebaby2023, I completely understand. Like others have said, here as and when you need us xx

@NS05 You’re so right about the symptoms! My sisters all say that none of their pregnancies were the same, some with lots of symptoms and some with none. Im going into my scan tomorrow with the mindset that statistically, it’s more likely to be good news than not. 25 hours and counting 😂 xx

@habiller I’ve told close friends but only because they knew about the IVF process so have supported me through that. It’s hard not telling everyone I meet though 😂 If we get good news at our scan tomorrow then we may consider telling our parents just to make it easier to navigate the festive season xx

NS05 · 27/11/2022 09:44

Welcome @Nerdalert and good luck for your scan!

Wishing you the best of luck for tomorrow too @SunshineAndScience I'm sure everything will be well!!

Nerdalert · 27/11/2022 09:51

@SunshineAndScience @habiller I have told my friends, family and close work collegues. I honestly wouldn't have got through some of the dark times without them. Its hard to keep a secret everyday when there is so much going on. I find they're just as invested in our journey as we are! My work have been brilliant with days off for procedures and appointments, and they really help me out on the crappy days! 🤣 my boss nearly cried when I told her the good news!

Hope everyone is having a nice relaxing Sunday! Xx

itshimi · 27/11/2022 17:20

@Nerdalert welcome! I've been the same - enjoying every bit of the backache and cramps and tiredness. It feels surreal to me too. Iva had hardly any cramps today and been feeling anxious if everything's okay. I don't have any scans/tests until the 14th, which will be my 7 week scan. I'm going to buy a bunch of tests to keep an eye on things. Are any of the tests better/more accurate than others?

Nerdalert · 27/11/2022 17:24

@itshimi I just bought them from amazon, didn't wanna spend loads as I knew I would do lots of them. My clinic doesn't do bHcG tests. So all I've had since official test day is tests 🤣

itshimi · 28/11/2022 06:49

Morning everyone, I wanted to ask if anyone's having major issues with sleep? My insomnia is so so bad. I've been sleeping early by around 10-10.30, but wake up so quickly and can't sleep after. Last night woke up at 1.30 and couldn't sleep pretty much all night. I'm so upset by it, as work is so busy at the moment. I run my own business so can't really take days off either and we're busiest around Christmas, so I can't afford to be tired/exhausted/cranky all day (all of which I currently am) 😞

Do we have any any tips/solution for this? Or is there any number of weeks after which it is goes away? Dr. Google has been very unhelpful so far.

@Nerdalert oh Amazon is good! Which ones are they? I agree, the ones at the supermarkets are not cheap and I wasn't looking forward to spending loads on them! So this sounds like a good solution.

hopefullsosbry · 28/11/2022 08:25

@itshimi yes! I can’t sleep either , I was the same when I was preg with my daughter, I feel exhausted but can’t sleep, when I do it’s for a few hours at a time, lavender oil on my pillow at night helps a little, hope you are ok and not to tired !

NS05 · 28/11/2022 08:36

Oh that's so hard @itshimi it's the worst when you wake up and your mind wonders and then you can't go back! I'm sorry I don't have any suggestions either unless there's some meditation/sleep music that could help!

Good luck for the scans today everyone! I think it's @SunshineAndScience and @Sezzza will be thinking of you both!

Nerdalert · 28/11/2022 09:19

I just ordered these. Not on commission by the way, I just found them to be a good price 😉
