@TeamBluex4 how exciting! No sorry no experience of having my waters broken. My due date is 4th Dec. But ended in triage today because my waters are definitely leaking. However, when they checked with a speculum the midwife said no I'm not leaking. The fetal heart rate is lower than normal too according to the ctg. But still I've been sent home. I'm going to go back tomorrow too because something just doesn't feel right. With my first dc I had pprom and ended up with an emergency csec at 31 weeks. So don't want to take any risks.

Laughingmole · 16/11/2022 21:56

Good luck @TeamBluex4 hope the rest of your induction and labour goes well! Xx

TradedAtlanta · 16/11/2022 22:44

@TeamBluex4 I had my waters broken with my DD after I stopped progressing at 4cm dilated. The process itself was absolutely fine - don't remember it being even uncomfortable but the gush of water was a bit of a surprise (won't be to you I guess as it's not your first delivery). Things ramped up quickly after that and it was painful but I have nothing to compare to as it's my only delivery. On the upside I had my DD in my arms within a couple of hours xx

TeamBluex4 · 16/11/2022 23:28

Ohh thankyou ladies for your kind responses back 🥰 it means alot! Will be replying to each of you 1 by 1 lol
@MadamMaltesers hey we have same due dates but due to GD & baby's size & polyhydraminos is the reason why they booked me in to be induced(never been induced before went into labour with my 3 other children spontaneously) but anyway yes i totally agree that you should do that, you dont want to be taking risks and im suprised they have sent you home and not kept you in to be monitored to keep a closer eye on baby? Seems ridiculous! May i ask if you have been leaking what you think is your waters what makes them think its not your waters? Did they give you an explanation of what the fluid could of been then? 🤔 im thinking of you and hope everything goes ok ❤ definatly do go back to hospital tomorrow and dont take no for an answer follow your mothers instinct hun! X

TeamBluex4 · 16/11/2022 23:29

@Laughingmole thankyou hun 😁 x

TeamBluex4 · 16/11/2022 23:38

@TradedAtlanta im hoping that even though balloon hasn't fallen out my cervix has dilated more than just 1cm though which doctor said can be possible but who knows think my cervix is been stubborn & the pain i went through with having the balloon put in seems for nothing, feel fed-up, nervous and a failure.. so you can't remeber then if it was painful then do you know when they are putting the hook thingy in? (Forgotten what doctor called it) and once your waters was broken would you say labour was any more painful given the fact waters was gone first then baby born if you know what i mean? my waters with all my other children went just before second stage.. im nervous its going to be more painful like its going to be a dry labour sort of thing! I know that sounds silly as i have given birth 3times before just never had my waters broken just like never been induced so its all new to me and sounds pretty daunting 😬 xx

MadamMaltesers · 17/11/2022 00:52

@TeamBluex4 no they never gave a possible reason for the fluid, they just said the test which is 'highly reliable' is negative. I don't believe it one bit though. It's definitely my waters I just hope I don't get aan infection again. I need to see my consultant or a Dr next time. I'm sick of being fobbed off by midwives. Good luck with your induction, hope it kick starts labour soon.

TradedAtlanta · 17/11/2022 07:10

@TeamBluex4 hopefully you have progressed overnight so won't see this til your LO is with you... no I didn't find the hook painful (though appreciate it might be different if you are less dilated). I really can't say about whether it was more painful to give birth 'dry' because it's the only experience I've had. Yes it was painful but then that's childbirth!

Mommabear20 · 17/11/2022 08:45

@TeamBluex4 ahhh so exciting that the first of us is on the way to having our LO!!!

I thought I was having contractions last night, but then I went to bed and had nothing this morning so apparently not 🤦‍♀️😭

TeamBluex4 · 17/11/2022 09:10

@TradedAtlanta still no baby in my arms of yet so just update.. balloon got taken out lastnight then after that MW examined me and i was 3cm dialated which is good i suppose as that is progression even though the balloon didnt fall out itself.. labour ward here has been really busy so still waiting to go down so they can break my waters but im hoping in meantime my body just spontaneously goes into labour so that doesnt have to happen 😂 as after balloon had been taken out & examinig me ect started having contractions but they have seem to of stopped since i got into bed to sleep at like 4 this morning! So its just a waiting game now.
@Mommabear20 could of been braxton hicks you never know? 😊

Jaaxe · 17/11/2022 09:23

@TeamBluex4 really hope all starts progressing quickly for you soon! I have nothing productive to add to help but just wanted to say I’m very excited for you! Wooo you’re going to have your baby with you soon xx

MsCactus · 17/11/2022 10:17

Can I ask everyone what Braxton Hicks contractions feel like? Im a ftm and woke up last night at 3am with cramping in my lower tummy. Am 35w+4.

It wore off fairly quickly, and I've got no pain this morning. Is that what Braxton Hicks feels like? Or likely usual pregnancy aches.

Mommabear20 · 17/11/2022 10:41

@MsCactus I've never had them before last night, and they were like mild periods pain. Braxton hicks are irregular though, so you might get 4 that come 10 minutes apart and then 1 30 minutes later, but the intensity won't increase over time c and usually stop if you move around. Whereas real contractions, get closer together and increase in intensity as you progress, and will continue even with a change of position. Hope that makes sense 😂

@Jaaxe awww thankyou 😊 i am still waiting though to go down x
@MsCactus @Mommabear20 ladies ive had braxton hicks since 28 weeks key difference in real contractions & braxton hicks is this.. with braxton hicks you dont get pain in your lower back as like you do with real contractions when your in labour; also yes MsCactus its tightnings in your uterus that taper off very quickly as quick as they come on if you know what i mean like they dont tend to get stronger or cause you to be in pain so to speak so sounds like you have been having braxton hicks 😁 hope that helps you ladies x

MsCactus · 17/11/2022 11:08

@Mommabear20 @TeamBluex4 Thank you ladies, that's really helpful. Sounds like they are Braxton Hicks then - definitely felt like mild period cramps x

Bluebonnet3 · 17/11/2022 15:48

@TeamBluex4 how's it going? I hope you are progressing and will have your baby in your arms very soon!

GingerLiberalFeminist · 17/11/2022 19:30

Heyall I'm due 26th and had my 34 week scan today as I've got high blood pressure.
Obstetrics want me to be induced in week 39 and we have pencilled in 21st December.
Anyone got any advice?
On one hand I'm struggling a lot with HBP and pregnancy, I'm also anemic and getting tachycardia.
On the other hand, I'm pretty confident baba and my body know what they are doing and I don't wanna take unnecessary risks.
Any advice welcome!

Ababy0506 · 17/11/2022 19:48

I had water leaking with my first and was also told that it wasn’t leaking, when I went back again a week later my waters were low and they induced me the next day…follow your instincts x

Drinking water helps me with braxton hicks but they are very uncomfortable but nothing like real contractions 😆🥴

TradedAtlanta · 17/11/2022 20:45

@GingerLiberalFeminist at least with the induction option you know you won't be delivering or in labour on Christmas day! I think there are risks either way and no incentive for your medical team to want to induce you early other than for yours and baby's wellbeing. If you have asked what the risks are of each option, have you asked about the absolute risk... eg they may say "if we don't induce you the risk of x doubles" but worth asking what it doubles from and to because ìf it's from a probability of 1/2000 to 1/1000 that may be a risk you want to take whereas if its from 1/100 to 1/50 you may prefer to be cautious.

GingerLiberalFeminist · 17/11/2022 21:16

Thanks ever so much. Yes I'm trying to get a good grip on the statistics rather than be too driven emotionally.
I do think it's probably better for me and evidence indicates it reduces risk to the baby.

scottishmomma · 18/11/2022 14:31

I'm 35 + 1 and feel like I could go into labour at any point. Belly has dropped and having braxton hicks. Anyone else feel like this this early?

JC84 · 18/11/2022 17:59

Yes me! I've been getting pains since 35 weeks and only just realised that's what they were 🤣
36 today and at appointment said he is 2/5 engaged and well in which is as far as he will go as not first baby
Gtt results came back at 6.3 so that's all fine so he might just have a big belly when he appears! I'm back measuring on the chart now under the 90th centile for second time so that's a relief as I was well over 97th for my first 2 measurements and getting quite worried! I've told him 37 weeks +0 would be good after I've had my bump photos done 🤞🏻

TheOnlyException1 · 19/11/2022 10:21

Hey all, hope you're faring okay!
38 weeks today, and getting so impatient! Been suffering a bit with PGP on and off this week, which is quite painful. I'm still not sure if I've felt Braxton Hicks or not.. my belly goes tight in a slightly uncomfortable way, but I always felt like that way baby just having a wriggle and pushing outwards. I've had a couple of occasions of feeling period like pain, but that's been more of a heavy dull ache, rather than a specific cramping feeling.
I'm sure I'll figure it when real contractions start 😅

Mommabear20 · 19/11/2022 12:07

37+3 today and getting a lot of painful pressure in my hips, not sure if it's baby pressing down occasionally, braxton hicks or real labour 😂 🤦‍♀️

I've got DH cleaning the couches as we speak just once it is real labour 😂 they suddenly look horrendous and said we couldn't possibly have midwife and health visitor visits with them looking like that! 😆 he's definitely not impressed right now!
