Had a false alarm last night. Belly kept tightening every 10 minutes all day and throughout the night which pushes up baby into my ribs, it's so uncomfortable...and then after a couple of naps I woke up with horrendous back pain. It all eased off around 7a.m so I managed to sleep a little bit after it.
I'm in tears from how tired I am. Just want this baby to come. Will be 39 weeks on Saturday 😔😔

I had this with my boy twin. When we got discharged the doctor gave them one final check over and the back of his head she could feel where he got stuck under my rib!

MadamMaltesers · 24/12/2022 10:49

@Bluebonnet3 he is so adorable! Cant believe how fast time is flying. Its been a month since my c section already.

Happy first Christmas to all the babies born already 🎅🎅
hope everyone still waiting is doing ok… not long now! Xx

FiJen · 25/12/2022 11:49

Aiden decided he wanted to see what the fuss was about Christmas and arrived at 0132 this morning, after an unplanned induction yesterday due to bleeding! First Xmas baby born in our local hospital, so already a bit of a celeb, and we are just waiting to be discharged and go home and meet big brother 💙

Update !!

Had my baby boy 3 days later on Christmas Day!!! Don't want to talk about the birth just yet as I don't want to scare the ladies who still haven't had theirs, all that matters is we are both well - especially my boy 😍😍😍

Jaaxe · 27/12/2022 22:04

Congratulations on all the babies born!!

ive been a bit quiet in the group…..Our baby girl is 3weeks tomorrow and it’s been very hectic since her birth, she spent a few hours in nicu as she struggled a little with breathing initially, we got discharged from hospital a few days later and then readmitted due to jaundice, losing just over 10% birth weight but then they realised her temp was also a little low and started worrying about sepsis….we ended up staying in hospital for 3days and having blood cultures, she nearly had to have a lumbar puncture but luckily they held off and instead gave precautionary antibiotics….in the end all blood results came back completely normal and we got to go home to enjoy Christmas! 🙌

@AmyAW and @Bluebonnet3 seen your little ones also lost 10%…have they regained their birth weight yet? Are u breastfeeding? Our little lady has been referred to feeding clinic and I’ve been trying to feed her up and I think we are on the up now, she’d gained 3oz when they weighed her yesterday and weighed 6lb exactly which still seems tiny for 3 weeks old, she’s only on 2nd centile but I was just glad she’d gained! Hoping it’s inwards and upwards from here !X

That's amazing she has gained!! Well done!

Our little one ended up losing 11% of her weight, then two days later regained 100g. Its been five days since she was last weighed and we have the midwife coming tomorrow for a weigh in, but I'm expecting her to have gained again.

Am crediting all the feeding advice we had with her gaining - she has such a good latch now and feeding feels much more efficient - so worth getting expert advice on this! We quickly realised the midwives are not the experts on feeding so finding a specialist is best.

@Jaaxe and @AmyAW, I had a similar scenario. Also had breathing issues shortly after birth, but was fixed within a day of his birth. Got a revisit three days later as he was jaundiced and had lost almost 12% of his weight. That was awful. We stayed overnight at the hospital doing phototherapy and triple feeding. But he gained 80g on our own once we got home and at our last weigh-in (almost a week ago when he was 10 days old), he was 30g away from birth weight. I also highly recommend specialists for feeding. He's eating like a little champ now!

Congrats to everyone who's had their babies and it won't be long for those waiting! 💙

I’m 40+6 and I’m absolutely miserable!

had a really good 38 week run, then got sciatica. That has now disappeared, which I’m greatful for, but I’m now just full of anxiety!

I didn’t get any sleep last night because she wouldn’t stop moving. I know movements should be something to be happy about, but I ended up googling and saw posts that it might be something worrying. I got myself into such a state. Tried calling my maternity triage but it was engaged every time I called. Eventually about 5am she settled and I was able to go to sleep.

DP isn’t being much help. Just saying I’m being paranoid.

Sweep tomorrow and looking forward to having a cry at my midwife!

I'm also 40+6 today and utterly fed up. Had 2 sweeps (one last week) and a very good cry at the mw yesterday as am still only 1cm, had contractions on and off for 10 days now but little monkey is clearly very comfortable. Induction booked for 2nd Jan.

Ditto, also the increased movements through the night. I'm exhausted, swollen and feel stretched beyond popping! Ended up booting my husband out to play golf today to give me some head space!

Hope the sweep works for you and your baby is in your arms soon

Orcarain · 29/12/2022 22:26

thanks @3rdtimerodeo. Have ended up in maternity triage. Suddenly couldn’t see properly and was numb down my right hand side. Headache then followed.

baby is absolutely fine. Just waiting on blood test results. Midwife seems happy, but wants a dr to check me over. Paracetamol now working.

Bluebonnet3 · 31/12/2022 04:05

@Jaaxe re: your little ones also lost 10%…have they regained their birth weight yet? Are u breastfeeding?

Baby surpassed birth weight by 15day weigh in. He's still really small, and appears to be following the 2nd centile curve. We have been combination / mixed feeding with formula and expressed milk. Bottle feeding as couldn't get a latch after day 1. Perhaps related to small baby/ small mouth and flat nipples.

Started to get a successful latch this week (3 weeks and a bit) using nipple shields and with DH help to get baby in position. The past 5 days = breast feeding between 1-4 times in the day and the rest by bottle (formula and expressed).

How are you orcarain?

Our little boy was born a week late at 13.11 yesterday after a very quick labour (approx 1.30!) Born into water on an incredibly busy birthcentre and home by 9pm last night. Over the moon!

Good luck to everyone still waiting

@3rdtimerodeo gosh! What an absolute cutie! Congratulations!

nothing here. Booked in for induction on 5th. Midwife made it sound like it was a foregone conclusion. Actually wanted to swing for her!

Bluebonnet3 · 31/12/2022 12:55

@3rdtimerodeo congrats!!! He's so lovely! What a quick labour!

@Orcarain good luck for the upcoming induction. Or maybe you'll go into spontaneous labour beforehand!

Congrats to all the recent births!

Who else is still waiting for their little one to arrive?

Oh no Orcarain! It's soul destroying isn't it? I was booked for induction on 2nd Jan but he decided he didn't want to wait! Fingers crossed its the same for you?!

can i recommend Rob Becketts Wallop stand up on sky to get the oxytocin flowing, I'm sure laughing at him started me off!

Thanks @Bluebonnet3 well worth the wait!

Bizzyone · 01/01/2023 22:39

@Bluebonnet3 so glad I saw this post as am having nightmare with 1 week old not latching amd actively fighting the breast since birth, so have been expressing and formula feeding mostly crying thinking he will never latch haha...

Its so discouraging as first baby and so badly want to breast feed!! So to hear youre getting there now makes me think its worth trying bit longer!?

Lanzy · 01/01/2023 22:49

I wasn’t due until January but baby decided to arrive on Christmas day! She’s tiny!

I’ve been breastfeeding but it’s so sore and also finding baby wants held all the time, doesn’t like the cribs! I’ve tried putting blanket of my scent but doesn’t work.
looking into nest to put into crib but are these recommended?

from a now tired breastfed mum x

Jaaxe · 02/01/2023 17:55

@AmyAW how did the weigh in go? Hope things are on the way up for you and baby now!

thanks @Sdoubleyou we got referred to breastfeeding specialists too and I bombarded them with all my questions to try and help her gain more! 🤣 how’s things for you now?

@Bluebonnet3 yes I’m breastfeeding, I think it took a while for my milk to properly come in and also I’m anaemic so don’t know if that makes a difference….she was born at 6lb 5oz then dropped to 5lb 10oz and then managed to gain a little to 5lb 13oz but stayed static at that for nearly a week, since then things have improved though she’s gained twice and is now nearly 4 weeks old and today had gained 8oz in a week and weighed 6lb 8oz which is still tiny and nearly bottom centile but she’s following a line now and they were more than happy with her gain so we got discharged from the midwife’s finally! I don’t think the health visitors do weigh in clinics now in my area since covid though so the midwife’s were kind of just like that’s it now for weighing her and just get in touch with health visitors if you have any concerns 🤷‍♀️

Jaaxe · 02/01/2023 17:57

Hope everyone who’s still waiting on a baby have them soon!! And congrats to all the new mummies x

Ababy0506 · 02/01/2023 21:14

Finally had my baby girl 1/1/23…8lb 8.5.
long 24 hour induction and 9 hours for labour. 20 mins pushing she was out. Good luck to all the other mums and baby’s as you navigate the new path, this group has helped me in the hard times throughout these past 9 months so thanks for your transparency.
all the best for 2023 ladies and babies 😘

Bluebonnet3 · 07/01/2023 05:04

@Bizzyone definitely don't despair, although I totally feel your pain. I was quite distraught at the beginning when I couldn't breast feed. I felt better when I reminded myself that feeding him (in any way) was priority.

I'm now in week 4 and have worked up to breast feeding 8 times in a day, using nipple shields (from only bottle feeding in weeks 1-2 and starting to get a latch in week 3). Baby gets a top up of formula when he is still hungry. I'm pleased with the progress!

@Lanzy congrats!!! My baby still doesn't like sleeping in his bedside crib. Try warming up the crib mattress with a warm blanket or hot water bottle. My husband and I tend to take turns with one of us sleeping in the bed and the other person awake/dozing on the sofa with the baby.

@Ababy0506 congrats!!!
