@Laughingmole I've had to do finger prick testing since 16 weeks as got told I had gestational diabetes then. Put the setting on the lowest and don't do the pad on your finger try to the side.

JC84 · 09/11/2022 21:19

I had my growth scan today after static measurement for 2 weeks on the tape. I'm 34+5 and his AC is showing at over 97th centile and others about right, he's 2.9kg already! So I'm going for a GTT on Monday now 😫 midwife said might not be gtt as we are both quite tall but now I'm worrying about everything and I want to avoid a section at all costs 😭

Mommabear20 · 10/11/2022 12:03

Does anyone else feel like their baby is so low they could literally fall out? (Wishful thinking 😂) is rather uncomfortable now as she's so low, it actually hurts to sit or stand and lying down I have to have a pillow between my thighs 😭

@Mommabear20 yeah I feel that.. my bladder always feels under pressure right now, which is making me feel like I need to pee constantly, even when I have just stood up from going.. not my favourite thing! I feel like my little one is getting close to engaged now hopefully. Still, only 2 days until I'm technically full terms (37 weeks) and then we'll see how timely he is going to be, or if he will keep me waiting beyond due date (I really hope not 😅)

Laughingmole · 10/11/2022 14:10

My baby is definitely feeling low. Midwife yesterday said she thinks he is engaged. She told me to use the ball and try to hand express milk, both of which should bring in labour.
Finger pricking this morning wasn’t as bad as I was expecting. My after breakfast reading was 8.. it’s meant to be less than 7.8 so slightly high. Just had lunch so will see in an hour. Looks like they might be right and I have gestational diabetes.
@PinkButtercups you have done so well to be doing it from 16 weeks!

Mommabear20 · 10/11/2022 14:25

@Laughingmole I'm getting on that ball every chance I get now! 😂

I'm wanting to express some colostrum before baby's born but no idea how to store it 🤷‍♀️ any advice is more than welcome! I hand expressed before but it was after birth and gave it to baby virtually straight away so no issues with storage.

@Laughingmole Oh bless you.
It does get easier and you get used to the pricking lol.

My pre meal should be below 5.3 and then after meals (2 hours) should be less than 6.4.

Don't worry! Just because your baby is bigger doesn't necessarily mean section. I've got my section date booked in and I'd rather avoid one too so holding Twin 1 goes head down before then!

Laughingmole · 10/11/2022 14:57

@Mommabear20 my midwife gave me some syringes yesterday for colostrum and said to just put them straight in the freezer until needed!

Thankyou @PinkButtercups
I know it doesn't mean for sure but I'm petrified of having a section and now stressing about my tests Monday even tho I might not have gtt

JC84 · 10/11/2022 16:55

Yes me 🙋‍♀️ I'm only 35 weeks tomorrow but he was 4/5 engaged Monday (I think that's 1/5 actually down?) And Wednesday she found very hard to get a head measurement as so low. When I'm out doing the horses the pain is quite bad and getting sharp pains there too 😩 he's taken up head down but feet to head so basically all his weight there!

TeamBluex4 · 10/11/2022 22:13

Hi ladis 😀 went for my 36week growth scan today (actually 36+4 though) to check on baby's size and this extra fluid i have due to gestational diabeties (they call it polyhydramnios) seems like good news is fluid seems to have decreased a little since last scan so not as high but this not so little man is currently weighing 7pounds & 8 ounces already and has gone over the line now on the growth chart so they want to go into hospital on tuesday to induce me 😬 never been induced before so feel abit nervous as i dont know what to expect but seems like they are going to try this inserting a ballon method.. any of you been induced before? If so how was it and what method did they use? I honestly dont know how to think or feel about it but i know at the same time (as the consultant put it) the longer baby is inside he is just going to grow bigger & bigger & their is already challanges/complications we could face so its definatly to minimise the risks/complications that could happen and to try make sure he comes out as naturally safe as possible!.. if any of you could reply i would massively appreciate it 😁 x

JC84 · 10/11/2022 22:51

I was induced but was 8 years ago so things have obviously changed. I was offered injection or pessary and had the pessary
My waters broke in a pad and then they moved me to a room. My actual labour was really quick a day and a half after I went in (didn't get induced as soon as I went in as they were busy!)
You will be 37 weeks and a lot of the ladies on here are counting down to that as considered full term

TMI POST

Question for the 2nd, 3rd or more times mamas, what does the mucus plug look like and how much is there usually? I've never noticed in previous pregnancies if/when I've lost it, but I've just been to the bathroom and when I wiped there was some clear, thick looking discharge that I've never had before, so thinking that could be it 🤷‍♀️
And if you did notice when you lost yours previously, how long after did you start with contractions?
Been feeling very 'off' today as well but in no particular way, and then I've just been throwing up just now as well which isn't normal for me, even in the first trimester, I'd only be sick if my stomach was empty and it'd just be stomach acid that came up.

Chanel05 · 12/11/2022 19:55

@Mommabear20 My plug was a thick, jelly like, large substance, tinged with blood. My plug went when I was 8 hours into contractions and my waters went 3 hours after I lost my plug.

It can go at any point though, even weeks before!

JC84 · 12/11/2022 20:17

I don't remember what mine was like but have seen a lot of pics about it lol. Can go all at once or gradually. Can be before labour (up to weeks) or during contractions/early labour
Looks jelly or mucus like can be tinged with blood but not always. If you're not too grossed out there are some pics on Google 😂 I was sick several times during my labour too

MrsN3 · 12/11/2022 20:30

Hey everyone, not sure if anyone is in the same boat…. 37 weeks tomorrow and needing to go for a position scan next week as midwife cannot tell if baby is breech or not.
Anyone had any experience in this and know what to expect if baby isn’t in the right position? FTM and hoping to avoid a C-section if I can. 🙈

Mommabear20 · 12/11/2022 20:54

I have had a quick Google, and I'm 95% sure it was (or at least part of) my mucus plug). I'm so over being pregnant, that I'm really hoping this means she's gonna be heading on out in the next few days 🤞🤞 but we'll just have to wait and see!

OP posts:
Jaaxe · 12/11/2022 21:31

My mucus plug was as @Chanel05 described it, a thick jelly like large blob of mucus tinged with blood, I remember being absolutely horrified 🤣

Bizzyone · 12/11/2022 21:32

Sorry bit late to the moaning bit but pls can I join in 😅 34 weeks and I am SO FRICKING UNCOMFORTABLE now 🙈 back aches, head aches coming on and off, cant manoeuvre myself out of bed or chairs without massive 5 point turns and grunting and everywhere just looks and feels huge 😢
Does everyone spend most of the last 2 months just wishing baby would appear now or is it just me?!?!

Chanel05 · 12/11/2022 21:53

@Jaaxe I was on the phone to my sister (when I was in the toilet 😂) when mine fell out. I remember being like ahh something is coming out....eurghhhh.

TheOnlyException1 · 12/11/2022 22:49

Hey all, made it to full term/37 weeks today! Woohoo! Now I'm honestly so done being pregnant 😅
Could I just ask a question, to those of you having growth scans etc. How closely do fundal height measurements link to baby size? I'm measuring around 85 percentile in my fundal height chart, and was just wondering if that correlates directly to baby being a chunky boy?

StarveInn · 13/11/2022 07:59

@TheOnlyException1 37 weeks for me yesterday too! I can’t remember the exact centile I was on with DS1 but I know I measured big throughout, growth scan at 36 weeks estimated 6lb 6oz and he was 7lb 15oz when he was born at 40+3 so not particularly huge (45th centile). This bump is measuring well above the top centile on my chart 😬 but I think I have long babies and I’m not very tall.

Jaaxe · 13/11/2022 08:09

@TheOnlyException1 with my previous pregnancies I measured a little less for fundal height compared to the actual size the baby as I kept measuring under and being sent for growth scans which always showed baby was growing well but I have a retroverted womb so they said that was probably why my bump was smaller. This time they’ve never measured my fundal height as I’ve had growth scans 2-3 weekly which in their words “trump fundal height so don’t need to measure my bump”.

@Chanel05 with my first I was on the toilet at my mums house when my plug came out and I screamed “mum wtf is this?!” 🤣🤣🤣 not long after that the contractions made me throw up the chippy she’d got me all over her hallway then whilst she was cleaning that up, my waters broke on her sofa 🤣

Mommabear20 · 13/11/2022 11:54

Has anyone else noticed their emotions are all over the place at the moment?? I've never had mood swings in pregnancy, but today I just keep crying!
