Aw congratulations @TeamBluex4 !! He’s gorgeous! Love that babies are all starting to arrive on thread now 😊 did it all go smoothly? How are your others adapting to their new baby brother?

@MrsN3 i also would say the tape measure isn’t exact and I wouldn’t worry so long as your movements are good. My last baby I had a couple of growth scans due to fundal height being static and dropping off the chart…then sent for growth scan and showed baby each time growing nicely around the 50th centile….she was born on the 54th centile so growth scans were very accurate for me.

This time I’ve had no fundal measurements only growth scans every 2 weeks. Had another yesterday and baby is following a line albeit lower than my previous babies so we’ll see how accurate the scans are this time round when baby arrives in a couple of weeks 😁 x

I'm 38+1 today, have just ring and they don't have any beds available yet so just waiting for them to call whenever one becomes available 😣

Hey ladies
Started losing small amounts of plug today (37w tomorrow), roughly how long after plug goes do you go into labour from experience?
I'm in an insane amount of pain or discomfort all day now for last few days from bottom of my bump all the way down, lightning crotch and pain right at the top of inner thighs so putting socks or shoes on is crippling 😫

Jaaxe · 24/11/2022 19:03

@JC84 I lost my plug in one go and it was the day I went into Labour but I don’t think that’s the same for everyone.

@Mommabear20 hope they get you a bed soon! Are you being induced early due to big baby or small?

Chanel05 · 24/11/2022 19:06

@JC84 I lost my plug about 8 hours into contractions! I think you can lose them weeks before labour though.

JC84 · 24/11/2022 19:21

Yeh I read it can be weeks before I just wondered on personal experiences as I don't remember losing mine even in labour 8 years ago 😂
I'm hoping it keeps going cos just this week I've had enough as barely sleeping either due to pain so in a bit grumpy 🤭

HayleyBean · 24/11/2022 19:59

@JJC84 I've been losing bits of my plug since last Thursday. Had a few mild period cramps but nothing major. I think trying to harvest colostrum has triggered this a little. It's my first baby so I have no idea!

CW2211 · 24/11/2022 20:07

I lost mine Monday night also - turned 37 weeks on Tuesday - and agree with @HayleyBean about the colostrum harvesting maybe triggering it! Not sure if that's possible but I know it can cause contraction maybe so it makes sense

Laughingmole · 24/11/2022 21:47

@JC84 I started losing my mucus plug on Thursday evening and then my waters broke and I went into labour Friday afternoon. But also know that it can be a few weeks in between! Good luck, hope it’s the start of something!

Bluebonnet3 · 24/11/2022 22:51

Congrats @TeamBluex4 , he's so lovely!!!

Mommabear20 · 25/11/2022 03:53

@Jaaxe induction for big baby. Still haven't heard back from them 😣 going to call again at 9am and hopefully get in today!

MrsN3 · 25/11/2022 06:08

Thank you so much @JC84 and @Jaaxe for the reassurance. You’re both very right that the measurements won’t be very accurate when it’s one generic chart for everyone not taking into account your pre baby size and height… my mum also said she had the same issues being pregnant with myself and being told she was small yet I came out at 6lb2 full term so trying to not stress about it now- especially as my maternity starts after today teaching and I’m 39 weeks this weekend so baby will be whatever size they’re meant to be.

Mommabear20 · 25/11/2022 09:40

Well we're in hospital 🙌 on baby heartbeat monitor and getting some contractions now so hopefully we'll have our little girl today! 🥰🤞

Good luck @Mommabear20 xxxx

buzz91 · 25/11/2022 13:37

@JC84 my first I lost it and went in to labour that day, this one I lost it and went into labour 11 days later - so no correlation for me!

Rose2022 · 25/11/2022 13:56

@JC84 I’m also 37 weeks today 😀just wondering how can you tell it’s part of the mucus plug? Is it quite obvious to tell the difference between that and discharge?

Only FTM so this is my only experience but the plug was very thick and jelly like. i thought it was actually my waters at first as I felt a bit of leakage so went for a wee and when I wiped it was really soaking but then it was stringy and thick. I lost it in two parts, an hour later i went back to the bathroom and there was a big blob of it on my pad🤢

CW2211 · 25/11/2022 14:04

Does anyone have any advice on what we should do in this situation as I'm really torn. We had a growth scan at 36+3 after our growth chart showed a big jump but it was a bit later than I think we could've had it as the CM didn't think the jumps were an issue but when the hospital saw chart when we went in at 35 weeks for reduced movements they said we need a scan to check. So at 36+3 he was estimated at 7lbs 10oz and his tummy measuring over 97th centipede at 42 weeks!

Had a telephone appointment yesterday to discuss this as I did at home testing glucose for 3 days and results were all normal so no concerns of GD. They said on the phone basically they recommend induction at 39 weeks and went through the risks of vaginal delivery and c section with a big baby and how induction can lower risk of shoulder dystocia. We've asked for another scan to check his size again so will have that on Friday 2nd at 38+3 then if we go ahead with induction it will be around 6th dec for 39 weeks.

I'm just not 100% sure if we should accept the induction or try and go naturally because I don't want to need more interventions than necessary but also would like less risk of SD etc

Chanel05 · 25/11/2022 14:16

@CW2211 personally, I'd never choose induction and select a section.

JC84 · 25/11/2022 15:02

@Rose2022 the best way to describe it was sticky like gelatine so very different from any discharge I've ever had. Not lost anymore today so he's defo staying out for now and I just continue to suffer 🤣

JC84 · 25/11/2022 15:08

@CW2211 I had large AC a few weeks ago and forced into gtt test which was fine. Midwife I saw last week wasn't going to take any further action as my bump measured on chart (well over the 97th first 2 then back on) I saw consultant on wed, as made them refer me as my midwife said she would, who is going to scan again wed at 37+5 and if large will induce at 38 as per the guidelines. if just bigger then 50th will induce at 39 but sweep from 38
I don't have a particularly bad experience from induction with my first other than i had missed pre eclampsia and he was back to back with cord round his neck 3 times (but I got kicked by my horse which could have caused those) and will do everything I can to avoid a section but you are well within your right to wait until baby is ready if you don't want either of those options x

Jaaxe · 26/11/2022 20:25

How’s everyone’s weekend going? Anymore babies made their arrivals yet?

i went out and bought the last bits for baby today….Struggled with the very little unisex things about….where did everyone else shop?

MrsN3 · 26/11/2022 20:39

Thank you for all the reassurance in earlier posts everyone- baby is measuring fine (has a smaller tummy but nothing to worry about) already looks to be weighing at around 6lbs4 at 38.6weeks so came away very pleased as I can still have a midwife led birth- relief!!

@Jaaxe it is so hard to find nice neutral bits- our favourite shops have been Asda, Tesco, M&S and next for gender neutral items.

@Mommabear20 hope everything’s gone well for you and baby 🥰

Mommabear20 · 26/11/2022 21:09

@MrsN3 we're still at the hospital, trying to get labour started, apparently she's not in a rush to join the madness! 😂

Sainsbury and Asda. Too exhausted to go anywhere else.
