@gskay83 hey have you spoken to your doctor and shown them . It’s quite usual to have a small
amount of spotting. Sending you lots of sprinkles .

ImHopeful2023 · 11/11/2022 09:55

Hi all.ia cramping at 10 weeks normal white discharge sorry just cramping since last night and so worried as I have had two miscarriages this year

RugbyGirl1 · 11/11/2022 12:47

@ImHopeful2023 it's pretty normal to get mild cramping around now as everything starts to stretch and get bigger for the baby. Have you mentioned it to your midwife?

ImHopeful2023 · 11/11/2022 12:53

RugbyGirl1. Still awaiting an appointment with my midwife. My two miscarriages this year started off with bleeding. Cramping is coming and going more so if I lie down just hoping all is going ok with this little one so worried.thanks for replying to me

Zaalfruit · 11/11/2022 18:40

@ImHopeful2023 hope you are alright . Have you been able to speak to anyone ? Sending you lots of positive vibes .

Zaalfruit · 11/11/2022 18:43

Does anyone have any experience with low lying placenta? It was my scan today - but they couldn’t get a good pic or site of baby - they have asked me to come back on the 23rd which seems ages away .

the tech said omgosh you have a really low placenta - I’m adding that to your notes you may need further scans post 20 weeks .

(my first pregnancy was during covid and I only had three appointments in total. 2 scans and one with a midwife the week before I gave birth .)

ImHopeful2023 · 11/11/2022 18:44

@Zaalfruit nothing they can do until I have my next scan I know everything happening can be normal I'm just worried after my two misscarriages this year with no living children I'm just afraid it will go wrong again even though I saw a heartbeat at 8 weeks and everything has been positive I'm afraid to trust it

RugbyGirl1 · 11/11/2022 19:08

@Zaalfruit I think the placenta can move up on its own accord which is why they monitor it. If it's still low later on I think it can get in the way of the birth a bit? I'm sure your midwife will help to advise. NHS has a fact sheet here www.nhs.uk/ipgmedia/national/royal%20college%20of%20obstetricians%20and%20gynaecologists/assets/alow-lyingplacentaafter20weeksknwonasplacentapraevia.pdf which may help 😊

@ImHopeful2023 have you had any bleeding or just cramping?

ImHopeful2023 · 11/11/2022 19:12

@RugbyGirl1 just cramping pains

raffika · 11/11/2022 21:46

@ImHopeful2023 i had quite a lot of what felt like cramping but it was actually the uterus stretching. It was really uncomfortable at times, I’d have to take a minute and lie down if I could, but it was all normal and nothing to worry about.

Have you got any friends or relatives who have had babies who you could confide in and seek reassurance from? I felt a bit isolated when it started as we hadn’t told anyone, so I told my Mum a bit sooner than planned, and I appreciated her support.

Janch13 · 11/11/2022 22:41

My community midwife called me today to say the results of my screening tests have flagged that I have a Low PAPP-A. Apparently a letter and leaflet is in the post to me but I have to take 150mg aspirin per day from now until the birth and I will have extra growth scans.

Does anyone have any experience of this?

I’m super shocked and confused about it as issue with Low PAPP-A is that it can cause early labours or babies with a low birth weight, my first baby was an absolute whopper so I had no concerns about ever having a small baby (quite the opposite).

Anyway, feeling more positive this evening after a horrible morning Googling horror stories. Thanks for reaching out if anyone has an experience of the same thing xx

ImHopeful2023 · 11/11/2022 23:33

Hi @raffika unfortunately it's been a long time since anyone I know had a baby and i don't want to worry my family who saw what I went through this year. Thank you it's reassuring to know this is normal as I'm not bleeding... I just a bit green with knowing what to expect with good so used to bad

Zaalfruit · 12/11/2022 10:12

@RugbyGirl1 thank you for the i for very helpful - it was so weird they don’t offer much explanation. I have a midwife appointment on the 1st hoping they talk to me then . At 15/16 weeks I’m having the diabetes test as my husbands father is type 1 .

Zaalfruit · 12/11/2022 10:13

Information sheet * @RugbyGirl1

RugbyGirl1 · 12/11/2022 20:58

@ImHopeful2023 and @Zaalfruit hope your midwife's are able to provide some further help and info to you soon! As @raffika said the cramping can just be stretching at this stage.

I've had my blood screening results in full and turns out I'm rhesus negative so looking like I'll get some extra jabs according to the leaflet! Anyone else Rh negative?

@Janch13 no experience of low papp-a I'm afraid but I'm sure someone will have some experience with it. It's good that they've picked it up early and will monitor you 😊

Flowersflowers121 · 12/11/2022 22:35

Hey @RugbyGirl1 , I'm also rhesus negative. Gotta have my bloods done again on Monday at my 17 week appointment to test if baby is positive or negative, and then will know more about whether I need the injections etc xx

OP posts:
Zaalfruit · 13/11/2022 05:35

@RugbyGirl1 I don’t have first hand experience with Rhesus however my sister in law did in her last pregnancy. She had the two dose injection during her last trimester. I think she said depending on trust if they over the one dose or the two dose. I am sorry don’t really know much else . Which I could help more !

@Janch13 sorry i don’t know much about Low PAPP-A I hope your midwife is able to give you lots of info . How is this pregnancy going for you? Is this your second pregnancy? This is my second and it feels so much harder for some reason 😅😂 and I feel like I’m going to show way faster - last time at 20 weeks I was still wasn’t showing till I hit 30 weeks and bang my belly grew over night . ( I’m just waffling the sleep deprivation is getting to me )

Anyone else hit by the pregnancy insomnia? I am so tired but I can’t sleep like my brain is on over drive .

Janch13 · 13/11/2022 08:09

@Zaalfruit I have found this pregnancy different to my first, I have been much more nauseous (alleviated a bit now). I would say I am the same amount tired as last time but it’s definitely tougher having a toddler to run around after and entertain! The only saving grace for me is that I work remotely now compared to in the office with my 1st pregnancy so thankfully I was able to take it relatively easy between my Teams calls during those days I felt like absolute sh*t!!

RugbyGirl1 · 13/11/2022 17:32

Thanks @Flowersflowers121 and @Zaalfruit. How do they test the baby's blood? The info i got with my results seemed to suggest I'd just get the one or two jabs (depending on dosage) with no further bloods, then potentially another one after birth when they test the baby's blood type. Maybe it's different in different trusts?

Started getting some sharp pain down by my groin area right hand side for a couple of seconds at a time - could this be round ligament pain?

No pregnancy insomnia (yet at least!)

Flowersflowers121 · 13/11/2022 18:37

Im not sure how they test it but they sent me a blood test kit in the post with documentation on it after my booking in appointment and told me to take it to the next midwife appointment for bloods etc! It's tomorrow, so I can ask and update you after :)

The sharp pains sound a bit like lightning crotch hahaha I keep getting it too (give it a google)

Pregnancy insomnia gets me some nights. Was up from 2-4:30 this morning unable to fall back asleep so felt super groggy this morning! x

OP posts:
Zaalfruit · 14/11/2022 07:17

I think @RugbyGirl1 if I remember correctly from our blood they are able to acquire the foetus/baby dna which is how they can tell and do testing . So freaky if you think about it .

oh pregnancy insomnia has hit me hard from 4am onwards .

I have been getting some side pains aswell ! Really hope it’s not growing pains . I will be disappointed if I start showing this early - I need to get through Xmas undetected 😂😂😂

Zaalfruit · 14/11/2022 07:21

@Janch13 having a toddler means you are never off . I have hybrid working so I have to go in one day a week and the other four days at home . I feel so shattered by the end of everyday . Was telling my husband the other day - first pregnancy was in lockdown and I was so unwell but I slept through most of it 😂😂😅 This pregnancy I have to make sure breakfast is on the table by 6am 😂

Does your toddler understand that you are pregnant ? We tried to tell our daughter ( age2) but she doesn’t understand and kept giving her dolls to me and saying here is baby 😂😂

Janch13 · 14/11/2022 08:41

@Zaalfruit yes same for me, my first pregnancy I had afternoon naps and weekend lie ins, absolutely no chance of that now.

My boy is 3 and does kind of understand but asks if there’s a baby in his tummy too? 😂 He seems excited though as he notices that his friends have brothers/sisters. He says sweet things too like I’m going to share my gruffalo slippers with the new baby 🥹😂

Melusina123 · 14/11/2022 09:23

Any migraineurs in the group? I used to get them intermittently (a couple a year), but then got none for ages. Since the pregnancy rollercoaster I've gotten a few that have been mainly optical migraines (i.e. lots of aura, much less headache). They freaked me out a bit because sharp drops in oestrogen can be a migraine trigger. But the internet says regular migraines tend to get better when pregnant (probably because of high oestrogen) but migraine with aura is a lot less predictable. Anyone else experiencing a change in migraine patterns?

TheBeesKnee · 14/11/2022 13:35

Melusina123

I get migraines, sometimes with aura.

I've had 2 since falling pregnant. The last couple of years have been great because a lot of the triggers have been eliminated by working from home (bright lights, sleep deprivation, too much noise and caffeine, stress). I'd been having one a month on average before lockdown and since WFH I get at most one per quarter. So 2 in the 3 months I've been pregnant is a bit higher than the new normal for me.
