@TheBeesKnee
i do agree with what @Awkwardusername said. But just ask plenty of questions to the doctor, make sure to do your own research too.
I had GD with my first, which he was growing big from 20 weeks and they suspected it early. I did have successful induction with him at 38 weeks. I was given the choice of that or C-section. He was 8lbs 15oz when born so was good I didn’t leave him longer. Just avoided forceps which I didn’t want.

I have GD again, and already discussions around induction at 38-39 weeks but this time she is growing normal range and good size at the moment. I’m on the highest metformin I can take before insulin. if I can manage my sugars now they may leave me to nearer 40 weeks. But it gets harder to manage as the pregnancy progresses and insulin resistance. I can eat ‘a safe meal’ one day and be fine, eat it the next day and get high readings.

don’t stress about it too much, just do your research and then talk it over with doctor, it’s the risks of them getting stuck and having to have C-section, and the baby managing their own blood sugar when born.

Wide awake since 3am....first night it's happened. I'm 35wks....knew I shouldn't have been bragging about all the amazing sleep I'd been getting!

raffika · 09/04/2023 20:45

I am feeling super sorry for myself today. I’ve tested positive for Covid for the FOURTH time (and second time whilst pregnant). I feel fine apart from congested and very tired, but I’m working myself up worrying about silly things, like how am I going to survive the newborn sleep stage if I get as tired as I am now, and do I immediately need to buy a sleep aid and engage a sleep consultant. I’m 36w now and everything is starting to feel very real and very scary.

buuuka86 · 10/04/2023 07:40

@raffika sorry to hear you have covid. I believe sleep consultants are to be used from 6m+ as newborns need feeding every few hours and shouldn't sleep for long. What makes me feel better is that apparently, although we won't be sleeping for long, the quality of our sleep should be better than normal - they did some research on it and mothers of newborns tend to get lots of rem and deep sleep.

Appleby11 · 10/04/2023 09:26

I'm jumping a bit in front here about washing their clothes, but what are people's thoughts about stain remover? I'd normally use Vanish or Ace etc. But what are people's experience of Napisan?

raffika · 10/04/2023 11:02

@buuuka86 thanks for your post, I’m feeling a bit more rational this morning - I think I was just catastrophising a little 🤣 we have a plan for some split shifts to maximise sleep, so hopefully we’ll be okay.

@Appleby11 Not jumping too far ahead, I’ve got a big tub of Astonish powder ready for all the delightful stains my baby creates! I’ve got no experience of Napisan, but it seems to be one of the products which comes up on a cloth nappy page I lurk on, so it must be good for stains.

Jaymar · 10/04/2023 11:20

@raffika Glad to hear you are feeling better today. It’s easy to worry and over think when you are really tired but things usually feel better the next day. My first born is 17 months and I’m 33w now. Me and my husband didn’t actually find the newborn tiredness as bad as we’d thought it would be. Your body adjusts and becomes more efficient at coping with shorter bursts of sleep. I remember thinking a 4 hour stretch was a great night! You’ll get used to grabbing an hour here and there where you can and feeling good after that. And big chunks of your day will just be cuddling the baby and binge watching Netflix so in some ways you get more rest, if not actual sleep. I found myself hitting a really exhausted stage at about 8 months but that was because I really needed a break and more time to myself.

If anyone comes to visit and offers to hold the baby for an hour so you can go sleep always take them up on it!

I kept an iPad in the nursery and some snacks so that if I found myself up for an hour or two cluster feeding in the wee hours it wasn’t so bad as I had entertainment and food!

@Appleby11 Soak with Napisan, wash as normal (with the rest of your wash load) then hang out in sunlight. This worked for me 9/10 times on even the worst stains with my 1st baby. The sun light part is key, lucky we’ll have all almost summer babies!

Awkwardusername · 11/04/2023 12:34

Not really sure how to describe this, but I’m currently 34+4 and I feel kind of like before my period comes? Not crampy, but like uncomfortable and a bit sick and overall rubbish…do I need to be worried?!

raffika · 11/04/2023 15:57

@Awkwardusername whether you need to be worried or not, it sounds like you are. Can you pop a quick call to your community midwife or your local maternity unit and seek some reassurance? Sorry I can’t offer anything more helpful, but I hope all is well.

Awkwardusername · 11/04/2023 15:59

@raffika my community midwife is lovely but a bit useless! I’ve got an appointment with her on Thursday so I’ll see how I get on until then - sick of the sight of the maternity unit after two full weeks of daily CTGs! Thank you 😊

Bananabreakfast123 · 11/04/2023 19:15

Our handsome boy arrived today at 37+2. Spontaneous labour at home with absolutely no warning he was coming. Waters went then full blown labour before ending in a C-section this morning. I didn't think we'd make it to term but he was such an early surprise I've not even finished work! Can't believe he's here all swaddled up in his hospital crib next to me.

raffika · 11/04/2023 19:30

@Bananabreakfast123 congratulations, what a lovely surprise! I hope you’re feeling okay after what sounds like a bit of an ordeal!

Bananabreakfast123 · 11/04/2023 19:44

Thanks @raffika I honestly didn't get time to catch my breath with the contractions being so full on from the beginning but the epidural was amazing and after that things just began to flow. What an amazing experience, even if it didn't go to plan. Just so pleased he's here safe and sound.

OptimusPrime31 · 11/04/2023 19:53

@Bananabreakfast123 congratulations! It's good to hear you're both doing well.

Leostratts · 11/04/2023 20:06

@Bananabreakfast123 congratulations!!!! 💙

Leostratts · 11/04/2023 20:10

Almost 37 weeks now!

Officially the most pregnant I’ve ever been (36 week pre-eclampsia/HELLP first baby)

I had a niece born today also 👶🏻🌸

Also, anyone else dealing with this all day every day? How is there even still enough room for somersaults? Pictures are stills from a video to give you an idea - I’m sure baby has a supply of red bull in my womb!? I didn’t get stretch marks on the front of my belly with my first - but this baby is always at the front and moves so much that it’s really stretched out around my belly button!!

Myotherusernameisaferrari · 11/04/2023 21:51

Congratulations @Bananabreakfast123!!

RugbyGirl1 · 11/04/2023 22:28

@Leostratts that's insane! I've got an anterior placenta so don't see body parts but definitely feel it! I was worried that they were moving too much yesterday. How do they find the room!!

Janch13 · 12/04/2023 13:11

congratulations @Bananabreakfast123 Hope you’re all doing great xxx
