@raffika great to hear it went well. Always a nice relief and a bonus a little further forward than you thought. I was the opposite and put back 3 days. Hopefully wee baba has grown when I get scan next week

Firefly89 · 02/11/2022 15:35

Hi everyone I was scared to join but just had my 12 week scan and feeling a lot more reassured! I’m due on the 17th may! This is my second and not sure how much longer I can it secret as my tummy is huge!

lmw88 · 02/11/2022 18:23

@Firefly89 congratulations! Well my secret is out after my 12 wk scan....I'm still quite anxious but sort of think there's never a time when I'm not going to be a little.

raffika · 02/11/2022 21:42

Thanks @lmw88 fingers crossed baby does some growing in the next few days! My news is out as well, like you I feel a bit anxious but also I was getting to the point where I was liable to blurt something out by accident as I’ve gotten used to the fact I’m having a baby (whilst taking nothing for granted) so it just seemed better to tell people.

lmw88 · 02/11/2022 22:45

@raffika exactly....it's a new little life so deserves to be told. It feels like a dirty secret. I haven't told my manager yet (she's v distant and doesn't phone or drop in too often) but I've told 3 of my closest colleagues. I'm not into big public announcements so just telling as the opportunity arrises

Janch13 · 03/11/2022 20:09

Had my scan today, everything looking good and I was dated at +3 days so now due 15th May which is just 2 days out from my birthday!

Hope everyone else is doing great x

wonderfulworld33 · 04/11/2022 17:39

12 week scan today and all was looking good. What a relief. Amazing to see it wriggling around! Now onto the next worry! 😂🤯

LemonDrizz · 04/11/2022 19:15

Had a scan today 11+2 as I decided to have the NIPT test as I am 36 and this is my first pregnancy. Now just the long wait for the results- 10 working days apparently.
Was lovely to see baby is doing OK though, got to hear heartbeat too 💖

Hiya all - wondering if I could join. I think I’m 10 weeks pregnant- unplanned baby number 2 ! I am really struggling with sickness all day long - so would love if anyone has any tips ! My nhs scan is next week on the 10th ! Hoping I see a healthy baby . And sending lots of positive vibes to everyone .

Zaalfruit · 04/11/2022 21:06

@LemonDrizz lovely pic !!

Firefly89 · 05/11/2022 08:11

@LemonDrizz lovely pic I’m also waiting for NIPT test but they said they phone quickly I think in a few days if you at risk so hoping as I haven’t heard anything all is good!

@Zaalfruit sorry to hear about your sickness I had it quite bad at the start but it’s starting to ease now. I found rich tea biscuits really helped

Blue2020 · 05/11/2022 08:42

I had the dating scan on Thursday, edd 6th May. Still apprehensive to tell people but we will slowly work on doing that.

Im also struggling with nausea/sickness at the minute. It seams to have got worse since yesterday, I thought going into the second trimester improves this but maybe not for me.

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 05/11/2022 08:53

@Blue2020 glad to hear all looks good. My tiredness is better but my nausea has got worse this week!

Zaalfruit · 05/11/2022 14:37

Oh no seems like everyone’s sickness is getting worse . I got prescribed some allergy meds yesterday apparently they help with the sickness.

hopefully the sickness goes and we can all enjoy the Xmas and new year festivities.

TheBeesKnee · 05/11/2022 14:49

Has anyone thought about what their first meal will be post birth?

I'm really sad that I won't be able to enjoy a cheese board this Christmas so I'm considering a cheese board and a large gin and tonic

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 05/11/2022 15:03

@TheBeesKnee I'm missing smoked salmon. However, would gladly give it up for this to go well!

Francesca1986 · 06/11/2022 11:40

Hi Everyone

Hope you don’t mind me joining. I’ve been a little reluctant to post anything until I had my 12 week scan. Had that this week, so far so good and just waiting for the results of the genetic tests.

Struggling to keep proper meals down but can eat crap no problem. Annoying, possibly related to my gastric sleeve surgery which I’ve been referred to a consultant to discuss.

Anyway, hope you’re all well.

Are you planning to find out the sex of the baby? I didn’t think I would but partner is desperate to so we have booked a private scan at 16 weeks 💗💙

Exciting times xx

For those who have had NIPT, my results came back within 5 working days!

raffika · 06/11/2022 17:05

Congratulations and welcome @Francesca1986

We’re not finding out the sex, we would prefer a surprise, that’s always been my plan if/when I had a baby. I wonder if we’re unusual though as since we started telling people a lot have asked if we’re finding out the sex, and most can’t believe we’re not.

My brother recently had a baby and we knew the sex and the name months in advance. I’m sorry to say it took some of the excitement away for me and my parents, but in reality we didn’t matter anyway, and my brother and partner were happy.

Its a very personal choice, and every Mum or couple should do what’s right for them.

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 06/11/2022 17:32

Welcome @Francesca1986 . Like @raffika we wouldn't plan to find out the sex until a baby is born

Bigparrot · 06/11/2022 18:29

Hello all!
Had my 12 week scan last week and just found this thread.
So glad I can start telling people and getting excited now!

God, me too! 😭😭😭

Melusina123 · 07/11/2022 12:11

Feeling a bit weird at the moment! Had many positive tests and three scans so there's definitely a foetus in there, and I've had nausea and fatigue since wk5 (now 14+3), and when I'm lying down I can now feel my uterus is bigger and changed shape, but I just do not feel psychologically like I'm pregnant. Especially since the symptoms are starting to lessen and I start to get less overall anxious and obsessed with every little thing, I just feel like a massive pregnancy imposter. 🥲 Does anyone else get that?

In other news, combined screen came back today, very low risk for all trisomies. So feeling very glad for that.

I honestly feel like this too and I am 14 weeks on Saturday. I just can’t shake the feeling either it’s so strange. I think I just always had it in my head that when I was pregnant I would feel worse than I have done when I’ve been pregnant and it’s that I am finding it weird to come to terms with. In reality I should just feel blessed but it’s making me anxious instead! Like you my stomach is definitely changing and I can’t help but feel sick every time I cough because it sets off my gag reflex but apart from that I am fine. I did have very sharp round ligament pain this morning though when I sneezed and that was an uncomfortable reminder something is definitely in there 😂

I definitely understand you though and I’m just trying to take it day by day!

Oh this is exciting. I have been told 10 working days which feels like soooooooo long.
Assume everything was OK with your results? Had you had nhs screening already?
