@Janch13 I was flagged up for low PAPP-A too. Mine was just below. Also had call back for 1 in 87 chance of downs, but had NIPT blood test and all came back fine and low chance.

there is loads of forums about it on mumsnet, and on Facebook there is a support group.
it can cause issues, however from what I’ve read many babies grow at a good rate following the advice of midwives.
So will help out mind at rest, just stay away from Google search. Better to hear from those who have experienced it.

Janch13 · 14/11/2022 15:13

@MissNat13 thanks for the response. Mine was 0.34 when I believe 0.4 is the threshold, so I wasn’t far off either. Going to search for the FB group. Read some threads on here that we’re all reassuring - almost all the posters had no issues and healthy weigh babies.

@Melusina123 sounds like this is long-standing for you but just to flag that migraines can also be a sign of low iron in pregnancy ☺️

Melusina123 · 14/11/2022 16:35

@TheBeesKnee ah interesting! The internet makes out like migraines are just going to go away, but it's clearly not the case.

@IWillBeWaxingAnOwl oh, this is a possibility - I'm vegetarian so very possible iron is an issue. And thanks for giving me an alternative to pre-eclampsia or miscarriage which are the current two options my anxious brain is batting around. Iron deficiency sounds vastly preferable and treatable!!

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 14/11/2022 17:16

Me too @Melusina123 and now on the iron tablets!

Hi all, got my results back from the NT screening today and got 1 in 50,000 for Downs, Edwards and Patau’s which I know is low but (without sounding stupid), how low?!

At the bottom of the results it says “PAPP-A: 2.360 MoM” …can anyone shed any light?
I’ve googled enough to know it’s something to do with my placenta but I can’t work out what it actually means!

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 14/11/2022 18:57

@Awkwardusername incredibly low. Nowhere near worrying numbers

TheBeesKnee · 14/11/2022 20:58

We told my mum this weekend (@14 weeks!) and she was shaking at the news then ran off to pray!!

Once she recovered she said she will need to diet and update her hair and wardrobe so that she can be a glamorous granny pushing the pram around 😂

She also said something about taking 6 months off to help 🤯 let's hope she's not going to follow through!

Has anyone else had any funny reactions to their announcements?

raffika · 14/11/2022 22:21

@Awkwardusername that sounds pretty low! Mine was low and it said chances of Down’s Syndrome was 1 in 4455 and Edward’s/Patau’s Syndrome were 1 in 100,000.

LemonDrizz · 14/11/2022 23:19

I got my NIPT results today which said everything was very low risk which was great to hear. I also found out I'm having a boy 💙
EDD 23rd May which also happens to be my birthday.... all getting a bit real now!

Janch13 · 15/11/2022 11:09

@Awkwardusername PAPP-A is a pregnancy related protein and associated with the blood flow from the placenta to baby. Low is 0.4 and under so yours is fine. Mine came back low and was flagged with a letter and a call from the midwife. It's managed with 150mg aspirin per day from now to the birth and extra growth scans from 28 weeks, as a low PAPP-A can be linked to premature births, low birth weights etc. This is all info you needn't worry about or even know (I didn't know anything about it in my last pregnancy as I wasn't low) as yours is fine. Also your % for the 3 syndromes are considered very low, so thats great!

Janch13 · 15/11/2022 11:11

@LemonDrizz Congratulations! Boys are so sweet and the Mummy-Son bond is like nothing else :)

This baby is due 2 days after my birthday and I am convinced it will come on my birthday which I would actually love as I think its so special

Who has a bump?! I got nothing! 2nd pregnancy so was expecting to be slightly showing by now, I’m excited to have a bump again!

may111 · 15/11/2022 12:58

Had my first scan today, 13weeks any gender guesses? 🥰

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 15/11/2022 13:10

I think I'm starting to get a uterus bump @Janch13 - my pants are a bit tight over it and its v specifically centred below belly button.

lmw88 · 15/11/2022 14:22

I've definitely got more chunk. Not sure it's quite a bump lol. I wear a work tunic and can feel the tug. I'm normally a size 8 so feel I'll need to get a few looser ones soon

Melusina123 · 15/11/2022 17:49

@Janch13 as I've got a bit less bloated I think my "bump" has gone down. 😂🥲 But I can very much feel my uterus now when I (gently) press my stomach. And my midline and between hipbones is thickening up a bit generally despite me only having gained 2kgs so far, and most of that to my boobs.

raffika · 15/11/2022 17:51

I’m getting quite a bulge around the middle but I look fat rather than pregnant. I’m a size 14 but all in proportion so this new development is unwelcome! I’m looking forward to it looking like a bump rather than everyone thinking I’ve eaten all the pies!

Don’t even get me started on how huge my boobs have gotten… 🤣

Zaalfruit · 15/11/2022 17:55

Wow love hearing all the positive news and dates . I am feeling more and more shitty - I have been so unwell my parents have come over to help me . My meds have made me so sleepy - been unable to get up and move .

Zaalfruit · 15/11/2022 22:41

@raffika the only thing about pregnancy that makes me happy is the cup size going up 😂😂😂

wonderfulworld33 · 16/11/2022 07:39

Is anyone else worried that their symptoms are gone? I hit the 13 week mark and everything disappeared, no bump, no nothing! How are you supposed to know if it's still ok in there 😭

Flowersflowers121 · 16/11/2022 17:17

My sickness and sore boobs went away about 2 weeks ago and it felt strange not having any symptoms other than the odd uterus twinge haha

However, the past few days I've started being sick again :( I have a bad cold/flu but not sure if it's related to that and maybe a sinus infection or something or pregnancy related... anyone had that before?

OP posts:
raffika · 16/11/2022 17:44

@Flowersflowers121 I’ve had sickness with my last 2 bouts of Covid. Have you tested for covid? Even if it’s not covid, it stands to reason it could be a ‘flu symptom as well. Hope you feel better soon.

Flowersflowers121 · 16/11/2022 17:47

Oooh, that's really interesting and made me feel a little better haha :)
I've done covid tests yesterday and this morning and they were negative so thankfully just a rubbish cold/flu I think! Xxx
