@PurBal I'd say I look 8 weeks ahead compared to my first too ! Anyone had their glucose test come back positive yet? Dreading having to do the diet until June !

firsttimelondonmummy · 22/01/2023 18:10

Anyone else’s morning to night bump/ bloat as extreme as this by the way?

@BobbySD345 I’m convinced I’m going to get a positive I’ve had sugar cravings like mad and not stopped eating chocolate 😭
Also been drinking loads of OJ for the constipation 🤦🏻‍♀️

We just bought our pram. So excited. First big purchase. We’ll gift from mum and dad. Got him wee sleep suits and a hat and a wee toy too 🥰.
suddenly it’s all feeling very real!!

C1umsyGiraffe · 22/01/2023 18:41

@firsttimelondonmummy yes! In the morning I question wether I'm actually pregnant and in the evening I feel like i look full term! It's mad 😂

firsttimelondonmummy · 22/01/2023 18:56

@C1umsyGiraffe phew! Honestly some days I’m like what on earth.
Exactly what your saying it’s like I’m not pregnant then I’m full term 😅 it’s so odd haha.

My bump is growing well. I'm measuring every week on a Sunday eve and it has grown 2-3cm each week so far.
Bubs definitely moves around inside and outside. Sometimes I'm super hard on one side and then it all relaxes inwards and it's soft again.

Hlc86 · 22/01/2023 19:06

@firsttimelondonmummy I'm exactly the same as you, literally not showing at all (18+2) then in the evening I look full term and then gone again in the morning, my OH just said to me "oh I think you have finally popped" I'm like nope that's just roast potaoe belly 😂

firsttimelondonmummy · 22/01/2023 19:13

@Hlc86 for real 🤣
My oh saw my belly this morning and he was like what on earth where did he go 😂 he was so confused as he’s only used to seeing me when I get back from work.

Zaalfruit · 23/01/2023 05:42

@firsttimelondonmummy @Hlc86 First time round the baby bump would disappear all the time. I would try and work out where baby was hiding I inside me . I guess you both are experiencing this.

@LT103 thats so exciting- what buggy did you pick? Yay for support grandparents - my parents wanted to get everything 😂 but I had brought everything cos I was so excited.

( Anyone with a toddler who loves the buggy’s - and is a lazy Walker - I really don’t want a double buggy any recommendations for how I can persuade her to walk more )

LT103 · 23/01/2023 07:02

@Zaalfruit we went for mamas and papas flip with the cyber cloud z2 car seat as the car seat can lie flat when in the pram and spins round to make it easier getting them in and out car. There were so many nice ones to choose between though!!

BobbySD345 · 23/01/2023 07:11

@Zaalfruit I'm also interested in this. My DH answer is just "he'll have to walk" but it's not as simple as that because I'll have my hands full on my own when he's at work and if DS decides he isn't walking half way round the shops, he is not moving ! My friend bought a bugaboo something or other which is a double and another friend recommended just getting a buggy board to attach to the babies pram for him to stand on but he likes to sit down and get "snuggly" lol.

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 23/01/2023 08:59

My SIL bought a double for her newborn and 2 year old. I suppose it'll just be easier especially as she has an older 5 year old who wanders off to watch too!

Looking at prams too but can't decide. It's so hard 😀Want a Moses basket too and highchair from birth.

BobbySD345 · 23/01/2023 12:05

@BellaTheDarkOverlord I defnitely want a high chair from Birth too. I was looking at the hauck 3 in 1. I need her off the floor in the kitchen away from our 3 year old. He's a very gentle child but you just don't know when your back is turned do you!
My friend has a wooden one I can't remember the name now I feel like maybe it is a Tripp? She had the highchair for her daughter and has bought the newborn bassinet/bouncer attachment for her new baby for the same reason!

Hlc86 · 23/01/2023 13:41

@Zaalfruit I am definitely experiencing that, I just thought with this being my second I might have popped already but at the moment this one is exactly like my first and hiding away 😂

firsttimelondonmummy · 23/01/2023 15:10

Looking for some advice from the second time mums.

I have a free trip to Paris from work that I need to use and we were thinking of going at the end of August all being well.
We would be on the Eurostar rather than flying and the trip would be 3 nights and 4 days.

Is it a bad idea to go on holiday with a 2 month old?

Depends on what your baby is like. If they have colic and are very unsettled it might be a nightmare. If they are chilled and sleep a lot it might be a perfect time. Maybe book but with flexibility to change? Also remember you need to allow time to register the birth and then get a passport so worth checking what the current turnaround times are for that.

BobbySD345 · 23/01/2023 16:54

@firsttimelondonmummy very tricky as you don't know how baby will be. In theory, it should be fine but if baby is unsettled or there are any post-birth issues with you or baby, 8 weeks is a little soon. By post-birth issues I don't necessarily mean anything sinister but for example our DS was jaundiced and we had midwife checks for a long while compared to the norm and he also didn't feed right and there were concerns over his weight. This led to us taking him private to get his tongue looked at which was tied all along. Also the issues with feeding and his weight led to lots of health visitor appointments. Just those sorts of things can be a bit tricky for the first few months! Hope that helps? I was looking at UK breaks for September onwards earlier. Of course you could have baby early and then the trip comes when they are a little older than 8 weeks! xx

dresslol · 23/01/2023 17:36

@firsttimelondonmummy I agree with @Whentwobecomesthree and @BobbySD345 that it could be a great time or it could be a disaster.
I’m in the same position as you as my daughter has a big dance competition in Phoenix, USA, 7 weeks after baby is due, not at all sure how to manage it. It’s the kind of thing that could be fine with a settled baby who slept in a baby carrier and would be dreadful with a colicky baby who cried all the time.
Also depends whether breast feeding goes well, I wouldn’t fancy dealing with bottles and sterilisers on a trip away but that’s probably just my lack of experience with them.
Then there’s the issue of complications, if you have an unplanned C-section, baby jaundice…
I think it is likely I will not be able to get a passport in time as there’s no fast track anymore for first time passports.
It’s a good incentive to make a decision on baby names though as you’d need to register the birth ASAP so you have the birth certificate to make the passport application.

PurBal · 23/01/2023 17:50

@firsttimelondonmummy we went away (within the UK) when DS was 4w but we didn’t make the decision until the week before. As PP have said, you don’t know what the baby will be like. But they won’t move which is a plus!

20w today and scan too. Apparently placenta is anterior, been feeling movements since 13w though so clearly made no difference to me.

Belami · 23/01/2023 18:13

Lovely pic @PurBal 🥰!! How did you find the scan? Mines on Wednesday and I'm so nervous for it!

PurBal · 23/01/2023 18:21

@Belami they were really good at explaining everything, what they were looking at and for etc. Unfortunately they couldn’t get one measurement so have to go back. I did literally go for a (very short) run outside in an attempt to get him moving.

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 23/01/2023 19:38

My scan's Wednesday too xx

I bought our pram today!! It's cosatto wow continental fika forest. We went to a big store and tried them out. Feels very sturdy. Comes with bassinet, pushchair attachment, car seat and isofix. It's coming this week 😁Very exciting.

DrinkingAllTheGin · 23/01/2023 20:44

I also have my scan Wednesday.
I've not been feeling great today. Feeling weak and shakey. So came home from work and slept on the sofa.
Feeling a bit better now but an early night is on the cards I think.
