Guys can anyone help

I lost my dad 2 weeks ago, it was sudden and quite traumatic, I was there in his final moments.

I'm trying to hard to be strong for my baby, and iv read grief can affect the baby and I'm so concerned. I cry nearly everyday and hormones are definitely not helping. Iv contacted 2 community midwives both have not answered and also not returned my calls. I have my 20 week scan next week and thinking should I try calling another midwife or should I wait until the scan. It's not urgent enough to call the triage unit but I just don't know what to do. I don't need help emotionally, it's just to see if my baby is ok. Anyone have any experience?

firsttimelondonmummy · 10/01/2023 21:30

@dresslol they are amazing aren’t they.
I’m just not telling my partner how much it cost and calling it my treat to myself and Theo 😂
This is the one I’m getting! 😍

@tigerlily0 I’m so sorry to hear this, sending you all the love.
I really think it is triage worthy, urgent therapy can help with coping mechanisms.
Remember any of us would be in the same position trying to manage grief during pregnancy ❤️

@Belami yes exactly, I’m pretty sure the midwife said the same to me re 24 weeks +. So hard to keep telling yourself that!!

@tigerlily0 so sorry for your loss, how awful. ❤️ I started a thread in December called “stress and bereavement in pregnancy” as I was worried about similar (although not a parent). There were some really helpful stories / replies from others if you wanted to read through.

FLA92 · 11/01/2023 07:32

Hope everyone is getting on well.

I’m 17+1 and in the early hours of this morning woke up to cramps similar to period pain (I’d say a 3/10 on the pain scale, enough to bother me). They seem to have stopped now but it really scared me. Could it be growing pains as I know everything’s growing and stretching at the moment…

BobbySD345 · 11/01/2023 13:52

@FLA92 sorry to hear you are uncomfortable. If it helps, when I had my 16w appt I asked the midwife about pains. I keep getting shooting stitch-like pains if I cough, sneeze or roll over funny in the night and I've also had dull period-type pains and general discomfort daily. I don't remember having these with my DS but she said with pains they recommend that if they don't subside with rest and paracetamol, that's when you should get them checked. I had a funny spell in Asda the other week which I now think was due to my lifting my 3 yr old into the trolley but I was in a lot of pain. I abandoned mission and sat in the car and rested and it subsided.

BobbySD345 · 11/01/2023 13:55

@DrinkingAllTheGin Ouch! I'm not looking forward to mine. When I went to see the midwife for the 16w appointment she said I need a test now and I haven't been referred by mistake. So that's being sorted ... can't wait. Even if I get the all clear I've got to have another one at 28w I think. I can't see me avoiding it having had it with DS and now being more overweight than I was back then...

dresslol · 11/01/2023 13:59

@tigerlily0 I’m so sorry to hear all that you are dealing with. I don’t have anything useful to say but it sounds like @Leaf86 has given you some great advice.

@FLA92 I had similar pains a few mornings ago which faded and have not come back since, pretty sure it’s normal.

@firsttimelondonmummy love that carrier! I emailed them to ask for suggestions for hot weather as I expect to use it a lot when they are small and it will be peak summer (plus possible trip to Phoenix) and they emailed me their suggestions (let me know if you want me to DK them to you). I was thinking about a rather flamboyant one but don’t see the other half wearing it….

Thanks everyone 😊 it has subsided hopefully it was just from growing / stretching.

firsttimelondonmummy · 11/01/2023 15:26

@FLA92 weirdly I got pain this morning like a sharp and stretching I guessed it was round ligament?

@dresslol I LOVE but no chance I’m convincing DP to wear an amazing design!
If you could send me that would be amazing 🙏🏻 thank you!

I used a great local sling library with my first baby (basically a group of mums who have tonnes of slings you can try out and rent - and they show you how to use them safely etc). The near me is called Stork and the Bees, but there are lots all round the country. I found the slings to all be really different with some more comfortable than others. I rented a couple for a few weeks and then bought the one I liked most - really recommend it!

I've just found out I'm anaemic after suffering exhaustion, light-headedness and breathlessness - had put it down to just being pregnant and having a toddler but turns out I need iron tablets. Anyone else had this? I'm 17 weeks.

Hi all can someone explain what flutters feel like I feel like a bubble bursts every so often is this flutters

PurBal · 11/01/2023 21:10

HalWin2221 · 10/01/2023 18:57

When did everyone feel their first flutters or baby kick? I’m currently 16+2 so know it’s so early and I could have another 8 weeks to wait! I’m so looking forward to feeling him🥲

@HalWin2221 13w with this one but 18/19 with DC1 and not regularly until about 24w. 18w now and maybe feeling them one every other day or so.

PurBal · 11/01/2023 21:14

@ImHopeful2023 exactly as you describe. I remember with DC1: when I was conscious I’d felt them for the first time I realised I’d felt that same sensation before. Now with DC2 it’s a familiar pop, flutter, bubble, ripple feeling that I recognised from my first pregnancy. Not sure if that makes sense but hope so!

DrinkingAllTheGin · 11/01/2023 21:18

Been to my cub meeting tonight and I'm knackered after it! Got a muscle strain type pain in my lower abdomen now. Thankfully DH is doing the housework etc now.

ImHopeful2023 · 11/01/2023 21:55

Thanks @PurBal no idea if it's gas but hoping it's flutters

Veryxonfused · 11/01/2023 23:35

Does anyone else’s baby refuse to move if you put your hand on your stomach? Convinced my husband will never feel her 🥲

B1993 · 12/01/2023 07:54

@BobbySD345, thanks for the tips on reconditioning! Ours is actually in great condition generally, but has a few scratches on the frame. The fabric will need a clean to freshen up, but there's no real damage.

It's been busy on here since I last posted - I have lots to catch up on!

RE movements, the first movements are always a bit questionable for me but as you start to feel them more frequently, they are definitely easier to recognise.

At 19+5 mine are getting much stronger! DS and Hubby still manage to miss them
often though! 🤦🏻‍♀️

I've now told all of the staff at work (not the children or parents) and am feeling quite relieved that I don't have to go through the effort of hiding my massive bump now 🤣. One of the teachers also felt my stomach yesterday... I hate this!! I of course asked her to stop and she was apologetic but I can't understand why people do this at all?! 🙈

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 12/01/2023 12:47

@HalWin2221 My flutters started this week at 18 weeks. She's active in the morning and evening. Lovely feeling. Not strong enough to feel outside yet though.

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 12/01/2023 13:05

Had a bit more bleeding evening yesterday at work. It's was a bit pink and brown on wiping. She kicked me a bit later so I think she's ok. That's second time I've had it last 2 weeks. Not sure what's causing it.

I've started with rib pain under my right rib too. I had that in last pregnancy and it turned into preeclampsia. Im just keeping an eye on it for now looking out for the other signs. Still keeping on with aspirin.

@tigerlily0 I'm sorry to hear what you're going though x I'm sure you're being strong for your baby xx

dresslol · 12/01/2023 13:37

@B1993 I remember certain people feeling like they could touch my bump without barely acknowledging me, I hated it also. How did you explain to them to stop?

DrinkingAllTheGin · 12/01/2023 19:29

@dresslol rub their tummy in return? See how they like it.

Or just say stop? I guess it depends on who it is and how much you care what they think of you.

B1993 · 12/01/2023 21:56

@tigerlily0, I'm also sorry to hear this. I have no advice but did lose a family member unexpectedly with my DS' pregnancy. That didn't seem to have any negative effects so try not to worry too much.

@BellaTheDarkOverlord, I hope the spotting has cleared up! Fingers crossed the rib pain it's not an early sign of preeclampsia.

@dresslol, the colleague asked if she could touch me bump but, before I had a chance to say no, her hand was already there! I just said, 'please don't touch my belly.' Ha! I'm not normally a touch-y person anway, which I also explained.

I think I expect it and am more on guard from the stereotypical 'great aunt' type or random old lady at the supermarket but she's young and a fairly new member of staff so don't know her that well and I wasn't expecting it.

Zaalfruit · 13/01/2023 08:30

Hiya all !

Just found out we are having a little girl ! I am measuring a little bit bigger which is a cause for concern for them … so got a gd test coming up.

( I know gender is just a thing but for some reason I started crying I already have a DD and I was wishing to have a Boy now I won’t love my new baby daughter any less it’s just a feeling inside me - after this I won’t be having any more babies I’m 33 now and I’m finding this pregnancy hard enough )

I am super excited at having a baby I have brought the new baby a little coming outfit it’s just a part of me has to mourn that I won’t be having a boy and everyone keeps asking me are you having another baby after this to try for a boy . I know I am blessed - we worked hard to have this baby ttc wasn’t easy for us. It placed a huge strain on our relationship the clockwork checking of ovulation the testing .

( please don’t judge me )

HasHus86 · 13/01/2023 09:01

Hi all,

I’m currently 16+1 weeks and over the past couple of days all of my symptoms have completely disappeared. I’ve had extremely tender breasts since 4 weeks and they kept getting huge up until a couple days ago and now they’re back to my pre pregnancy size. I can’t feel my uterus when I lay down and I don’t even have much of a bump, just bloating. I haven’t felt any flutters or movement and this is my third pregnancy (5th baby due to two sets of twins).
Has Anyone else experienced this? Everything looked good at my 12 week scan.
I’m really scared that I’ll go into my 20 week scan and find out that the baby stopped growing earlier on.
