@WarriorsComeOutToPlayaaay, I’m so incredibly sorry that you’re little girl is so poorly. 💔 Even though she hasn’t been with you for long, it’s clear how much she’s loved so I can only imagine how you’re feeling. I wish you lots of strength for the next steps in your journey and beyond. I’ll be thinking of you and your family at this difficult time and am sending lots of love and well wishes your way. 💜

Ally1992 · 05/01/2023 12:31

@WarriorsComeOutToPlayaaay I'm so sorry to hear that, sending love to you and your family❤

HasHus86 · 05/01/2023 12:44

@WarriorsComeOutToPlayaaay I am truly so sorry that you’re going through this, I can’t even begin to imagine how hard this must be for you. Will be thinking of you and your family. ♥️

Leaf86 · 05/01/2023 13:25

I’m so sorry if I’m crashing into this thread - I’ve been meaning to join (I’m due in June, if everything goes well, but I’ve been too anxious to post yet) but I’m mainly posting now to say to @WarriorsComeOutToPlayaaay , I’m so so sorry, and this happened to us at the end of 2021 so please don’t feel alone. Our son had a very severe heart defect (and also like your daughter, no chromosomal issues) and we ended the pregnancy in my second trimester on NYE 2021. Like you, the odds of the defect were 1 in thousands, but it doesn’t matter when you’re the 1. This stage is so raw and overwhelming, but i promise it does get easier. I highly recommend joining the ARC forum (and speaking to ARC if you haven’t already). Sending all the love and strength xx

@WarriorsComeOutToPlayaaay I'm so sorry you have to go through this, it must be truly devastating we are all thinking of you during this time and I hope you will recover soon. Lots of love xx

C1umsyGiraffe · 04/01/2023 19:15

Had my 16 week appointment today and because I'm 15+6 she wasn't allowed to do the heartbeat 😭 if I was one more day she could!

Currently trying to convince dh to go for a private scan at the weekend 😂

Also to the people talking about vivid dreams, I'm now having really vivid nightmares, it's horrible!

I was 15+5 yesterday for mum midwife app and she asked me straight away if I wanted to hear babies heartbeat, maybe it depends on the midwife?

dresslol · 05/01/2023 15:28

Morning all!

How is everyone feeling?

I'm 19 weeks today and can't quite believe I'm just a week off half way now...😮 It also means I have my 20w scan soon - next Monday! 😁

For those of you with older children is anyone doing anything to 'prep' them for new baby at this point? My DS is interacting with bump a lot more recently and has been kissing/talking to baby. 🥰 I would love to buy him a couple of books if anyone has any good suggestions that focuses on the transition/ being a big brother?

BobbySD345 · 07/01/2023 11:32

@B1993 our little boy's nursery suggested we buy him a dolly to care for with the bottle and dummy etc. They also said nearer to the time he could buy baby a gift to give her and we also buy one from her to him when she is born. They are going to give me some book recommendations so I will let you know. My friend said to start having conversations about how babies sleep and cry and need lots of milk and cuddles. Prepare them for the fact they're going to just lie there and can't play as they think they'll come out fully formed toddlers to play with lol. She also said when they meet for the first time it helps with jealousy if the baby is in the car seat or bed rather than being cuddled by Mum or Dad.

justbelieve · 07/01/2023 13:39

I had the NIPT test at 11 weeks which came back as low risks and confirmed gender as a girl… however… just had a gender scan today which very clearly showed it’s a boy.

I’m SO confused because I’ve spent the last 5 weeks thinking I’m having a little girl. Also petrified that the NIPT results for the trisomy are wrong now 😭 NHS came back as 1:5000 for downs, 1:100000 for turners/edwards… would you be worried?

What a surprise! Google says there's a 1% chance of gender being wrong from NIPT so I guess you're the 1 in 100! I wouldn't be too worried about the rest of the results, but you could call to double check you were given the right results if you're really concerned? Congratulations 🩵

B1993 · 07/01/2023 16:21

@BobbySD345, some great tips - thanks! I’ll definitely be bearing in mind not to be cuddling baby when DS meets them. 😊 He already talks about babies just drinking milk, sleeping and pooping lol so I think that’s good. 😅 I’ll speak to nursery too and see if they can suggest anything. DS doesn’t start school until September so he’ll still be there when this baby arrives.

@justbelieve, what a shock! How are you feeling? I can imagine it’s come as huge surprise given that the results are rarely wrong. Did you have a gender preference or just hoping for a healthy baby? On that front, I think your results are very low risk (especially given the nhs results, too) so I don’t think you need to worry about that. It might be worth a call to the clinic that did the NIPT though, if you are worried, as they might be able to offer further insight.

DrinkingAllTheGin · 07/01/2023 16:29

DH and I are starting the prep. We have a 2 bed flat and the spare room is our library/laundry/ dumping ground so the last 2 weekends we have sorted every storage cupboard in the place to get as much out as possible. 8 bin liners to the tip, an unused chair sold, and 2 tip runs And there is still loads to do! Glad we didn't leave until the last minute.

HalWin2221 · 07/01/2023 16:51

@justbelieve I wouldn’t worry to much, if you were high risk then surely that would have been discussed with you! Like the others have said, maybe give them a call just for your own peace of mind!

dresslol · 07/01/2023 19:22

@justbelieve gosh, what a shock that must have been. I’m 18 weeks and my NIPT said girl, I hadn’t even considered the possibility it might be wrong!

Does anyone know if taking a second NIPT test would provide any more certainty of the baby not having a chromosomal abnormality? I had the Panorama test at approximately 10 weeks and it came back low risk for all. My nuchal scan and NHS test came back low risk too but a friend recently told me that her friend had two low risk results and her baby had Downs.
I know many wonderful people have happy lives with Downs children but I grew up with a severely disabled sister and I just don’t want to do it again.
I know I’m winding myself up over this, am I being an idiot? Would a second NIPT yield any further insight?

usedtolovenaps · 07/01/2023 19:42

@WarriorsComeOutToPlayaaay I am so so sorry to hear ❤️ No words could describe the pain you must be going through. I'll be keeping you, your DP and your lovely daughter in my thoughts 🙏
@justbelieve could if be that the sonographer was wrong? That's probably a more likely scenario. How are you feeling?
@dresslol unfortunately, I am not sure. You had more than just the NHS test but also NIPT though so I think you can be a bit more reassured ☺️
