I wouldn't worry about not showing, I didn't show till 30 weeks with my dd and I'm currently 16 weeks and not showing at all yet either, I'm 5lb down on my booking in app aswell but they put that down to the morning sickness. I got to listen to baby's heart beat today at my midwife app and it was 168bmp what do we reckon boy or girl?

MrsP4 · 04/01/2023 13:08

I'm 18 weeks today and it depends what I'm wearing to how pregnant I look if at all. Enjoy it! Maternity clothes ldisnt fit me until I was about 32 weeks 1st time round so this time I've just been sizing up I've got maternity jeans but because I carry so low I don't have the belly high up to hold anything up if that makes sense! This little girl of mine was kicking about last night and DH felt it for the first time which was lovely! She must keep curling in a ball because my belly will go all round in a ball and rock hard it's uncomfortable but makes me happy to know all is well!

I've put on a pound up to now but have actually been eating less just made a sandwich and can't even finish it 🤷🏼‍♀️

Can't remember who it was but think I read someone is at hospital today checking baby for heart defects? Or heart conditions sorry o can't remember who it was but I hope you get some positive news xx

theblueflowers · 04/01/2023 14:00

@Hlc86 ohh I had no idea that heart rate could be an indicator of the sex- I'm off to Google!

I also got to hear the heartbeat today at my 16 week appointment I'm actually only 15+3 and I know that some trusts don't do it so was not expecting to get the chance, but it was amazing. It's such a wait from 12 week to 20 week ultrasound that this feels like a little relief milestone.

firsttimelondonmummy · 04/01/2023 15:01

@justbelieve I’ve lost 7lb since the start!

Thanks all for the bump reassurance and maternity leggings recommendations.

Registered with a new trust today and she let me hear his heartbeat.
Was so lovely 😭💙

@WarriorsComeOutToPlayaaay all my thoughts are with you and little one today 💖

I got to hear the heartbeat yesterday at 17+1 and unexpected scan today (consultant appointment, decided to scan for reassurance). 20w scan booked for 23 Jan when I’ll be 20w exactly. When is everyone else’s scan?

Kladebs · 04/01/2023 15:52

@PurBal Ive got mine 25th scan when I'll be 20+1. Got the scan, consultant, cervical scan and councillor that day so it'll be a long one lol

I had cervical scan yesterday, it's measuring above what it needs to be. Got a normal scan too to check the babies over and they're doing good.

I've bought a few maternity bits cuz they're comfy. I have always had a decent sized mum tum but I can feel a bump near the bottom now but I look no different 😂

Brownsauce89 · 04/01/2023 16:19

Lovely to hear everyone’s positive experiences with hearing the heartbeat, I didn’t get to hear at my 16 week app but hopefully they will do it at my next one!!

My bump is big already.. maternity clothes have come out this week! I did have a mum tum from having my little girl so I think it was just ready to go again basically haha.

Has anyone started thinking about names yet? I have so many girl ideas but we are having a boy this time and I’m struggling for inspiration!

HalWin2221 · 04/01/2023 17:40

Those who are struggling with names, there is an app called ‘baby names’ and it’s like baby tinder 😂 you and your OH both download it and you can pair, then you both swipe and it will show what you both like & if you’ve got a match!

I’ve booked a gender scan for Saturday 🙊

PurBal · 04/01/2023 18:04

@Kladebs 👏
@Brownsauce89 girls name is sorted but boys still unsure. DH set on one I am “meh” about (and annoyingly he mentioned it to my mum who loathes it). I like a different one (the first one he was set on.

Kladebs · 04/01/2023 18:25

@Brownsauce89 got my boys name sorted, naming him after my grandad who passed just after I found out I was pregnant.
As for girl names, I'm stuck. I've always struggled with girls names. I already have 2 girls so my favourites are used 😂 so she's nameless for now lol

NalaNana · 04/01/2023 18:26

We're having a girl and I think we're going with Freya, middle name Astrid. We looked at so many but never really found anything we preferred!

C1umsyGiraffe · 04/01/2023 19:15

Had my 16 week appointment today and because I'm 15+6 she wasn't allowed to do the heartbeat 😭 if I was one more day she could!

Currently trying to convince dh to go for a private scan at the weekend 😂

Also to the people talking about vivid dreams, I'm now having really vivid nightmares, it's horrible!

BobbySD345 · 04/01/2023 19:33

Re names we said if it was a boy it would be Jack or Noah. For a girl we have quite a lot on a list including Freya that I saw mentioned in here a few comments back. Feels surreal that she is a she !

Brownsauce89 · 04/01/2023 19:46

@HalWin2221 that app sounds great I’m definitely going to download that! My partner loves all the names I don’t and vice versa, so maybe that will help us find some common ground.

@Kladebs sorry to hear about your grandad, that’s a really special reason behind a name choice.

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 04/01/2023 19:53

No more bleeding since last night so I've kind of felt better today. Got my 20 week scan on 25th as well as the uterine doppler which is 15 minutes before it. Still not feeling any movement currently. I'm 17+3 now. Can hear my boy cat shouting at DD7 who is trying to sleep. He's never seen a baby before as he's 4. He'll have no clue what to do 😂He was very perplexed by DD's baby doll earlier which moves it's mouth and face.

MrsP4 · 04/01/2023 22:25

I got a date today for my 30 week scan mines the 16th Jan I'll be 19+5 🤷🏼‍♀️

The baby name app is called Kinder it's good fun we used it but then never ended up choosing a name from it I have a Willow already 💗 and this next little girlie is going to be Wynter we think... 🤣 if we don't change our minds

MrsP4 · 04/01/2023 23:01

Sorry just realised my typo that was meant to be 20 week**

firsttimelondonmummy · 04/01/2023 23:29

@C1umsyGiraffe I’m 15+6 technically too I think my midwife was just super super nice 😂

I’ve got my 20 week scan on the 4th of Feb (soooo long).
New trust seem great though and very efficient (Royal Berkshire).

We also have our name we’ve gone with Theodore aka Theo 💙
Just hoping it suits him when he comes out now.

Still no sign of feeling him or me getting a bump just yet.
Midwife did say he’s sitting deep in my pelvis?

We have 2 names at the moment, can't choose between them at all. And no clue on middle. It's such a huge decision! Love hearing the names you've all chosen 😊

B1993 · 05/01/2023 08:52

RE bumps, I feel like I've always shown early - I was told it was because baby has nowhere to hide with my first as I was so slim. Not quite got that excuse this time around and still seem to be huge 😂 I know it's normal though, second time around.

I've not gained any weight this time either - I'd put on around 5-6 lbs with DS by this point, but didn't have any sickness with his so that may be why?!

@HalWin2221, we used the app with our first! It was definitely fun but all the names seemed quite 'standard' to us... lots of names like Sarah, Christopher etc. so we didn't use any from there on our shortlists. That was 4 years ago though, so it might have more variety now.

@MrsP4, I have my scan then, too! I'll be 20+2 by then 😊

@firsttimelondonmummy, I loved the name Theodore and wanted to use with with DS but DH was keen. Lovely choice though 🥰

We've not discussed it yet and will wait until after the scan. Dreading it though because we couldn't agree for ages with DS' name!! 😅

WarriorsComeOutToPlayaaay · 05/01/2023 09:10

@firsttimelondonmummy thank you for your message yesterday.

Sadly it wasn’t good news. Our daughter has a serious heart condition that will severely limit her life enjoyment and life expectancy. We have decided to end the pregnancy as we don’t want her to suffer.

We are devastated as I cannot tell you how much this baby is loved and wanted by us.

I am grateful for the support I have received on here and I wish everyone the very best. I do not want what has happened to us to cause anyone on this thread alarm. Apparently the chances are around 1 in 4000 so we have just been incredibly unlucky.

We are being well cared for by the medical team and supported by friends and family.

I wish everyone on this thread the very best with their pregnancies and motherhood xx

MrsP4 · 05/01/2023 09:14

@WarriorsComeOutToPlayaaay I am so truly sorry that you are going through this! I'm glad you have lots of support and I wish you a speedy recovery. I hope one day very soon you get the happy ending you waited so long for.

Sending lots of love to you and your family. I can't imagine how you all must be feeling but know that we're all thinking of you! Xx

Kladebs · 05/01/2023 09:28

@WarriorsComeOutToPlayaaay Im not good with words, but I'm so sorry. Sending lots of love to you and your family. Thinking of you xx

BobbySD345 · 05/01/2023 09:42

@firsttimelondonmummy We love the name Theo. Our DS was going to be a Theo but my DH pronounces "th" with a "f" sound and it drove me potty when he was referring to bump as "Feo" so we changed our mind 😅🤣 It's definitely one of my top boy names, so cute.

BobbySD345 · 05/01/2023 09:44

@WarriorsComeOutToPlayaaay I am so sorry to hear this. Pleased you have lots of support around you ❤ xx
