Congratulations to everyone that has found the gender ! I can’t wait till Jan for my gender scan . Looking at my scan and historically from my husband family - I reckon a girl .

Oh pillow recommendations please - I got a dreamgenni last time - but I didn’t find it super comfy.

@Saraht1991 I would opt for a message . It really will give her some time to process it and when she is ready she will talk. ( Please be patient if you don’t get an immediate response )

Kladebs · 31/12/2022 09:36

I've got my gender scan shortly. Still trying to get excited rather than anxious!
I feel girls, but I've been wrong every time so far 😂

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 31/12/2022 10:06

My instincts were wrong. I've been calling this baby he since 4 weeks and it's a little girl! We did a 3D scan at the 16 weeks and she looks like Groot 😂Dh is a bit disappointed as it's our last one but he'll be fine. Better start thinking girls names!

B1993 · 31/12/2022 15:20

@BellaTheDarkOverlord, oh gosh that must take some getting used to now then! Congrats on you’re lovely girl! 🎀

Did you have your scan, @Kladebs? How did it go?

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 31/12/2022 15:39

I warn anyone getting a 16-17 week 3D scan. Say hello to Groot from guardians of the galaxy who is residing in my uterus 😂She looks like one of those pictures captured on a hunting camera in the deep woods. Some Bigfoot.

B1993 · 31/12/2022 15:50

@BellaTheDarkOverlordm this made me chuckle! 😂

We got a 3D ‘peak’ with DS at 15w but they said they don’t recommend it until 24+ weeks as before that baby looks more alien like and they need to flesh out. Still cute to see though 🥰

Zaalfruit · 31/12/2022 16:33

@BellaTheDarkOverlord that is a fantastic scan !! A memorable one for sure ! You can see the little smile . Congrats on the girl. 🧸

@Kladebs hope it went well !!

Scan went well, so I'm feeling much better.

I have a boy and a girl!! 😁

usedtolovenaps · 31/12/2022 18:05

@Kladebs one of each, congratulations!
Hi everyone,
I've been silently reading but didn't want to write here as not to jinx things. Currently just over 14 weeks but previous pregnancies didn't get into the second trimester so I was ideally waiting until 20 week scan until I could relax a bit!
As this is first time I'm in the second trimester, not too sure what's normal and what's not quite normal so wanted to ask a question here. Have any of you experienced abdominal pains at around this age? Just in between my solar plexus and belly button there's quite an annoying pain that started hours ago. I'm thinking since it's too high up to be uterus, it's likely just intestinal pain 🤔 Not accompanied by bleeding or anything unusual.
Was playing with the thought of phoning EPU but given it's higher up, not sure if it's something I need to do.
I've experienced other abdominal pains but they felt more like ligaments stretching and were less intense so wasn't worried about them.
Thanks!

HalWin2221 · 31/12/2022 19:49

Congrats to all those that have found out the gender! I honestly can’t wait 🥹
has anyone got any good bargains in the sales?

Loving mooching through the baby sale stuff! Results came back from my Harmony test and gender is saying female (luckily this matches my very early gender scan!) so I am feeling confident baby is definitely a she! So have been looking at girl stuff - I've added a few bits to my basket. MIL has bought a few baby vests. My nausea is 100 times better but I am still incredibly tired. Waiting for my second trimester energy boost (14+4) Grin

BobbySD345 · 01/01/2023 00:25

Happy New Year to you all ❤️

I got a couple of bits in the Next sale but I got some real bargains from Home Bargains today. Love that store. They'd got the Tommee Tippee newborn bottle sets and teets for 3+ and 6+ super cheap so I stocked up. I don't know yet if I'll do breast or bottle but with my first I did both and if breast I will probably express so DH can do some feeds. Has anyone else starting buying bits? We usually get an outfit after each scan too. A tradition we started with our DS so we have a couple of sleepsuits.

BobbySD345 · 01/01/2023 00:26

Has anyone had a 4moms Mamaroo before? We went cheap with bouncers and chairs for DS and didn't get much use out of them. I'm thinking of investing this time.

Algor1thm · 01/01/2023 07:28

Happy New Year everyone!

We still have almost everything from DS and as we're having another boy we basically have nothing to buy which feels very weird! Picked up a pair of matching Christmas jumpers for them for next year, but apart from that, nothing to get.

I did buy a Tommee Tippee UV steriliser which is going to be an absolute game changer compared to a steam steriliser I think! I got so sick of dealing with soggy breast pump parts and bottles and if you dry them they aren't sterile any more. This way they come out completely dry!

B1993 · 01/01/2023 08:27

@HalWin2221, I posted a day or so ago about a baby carrier I picked up - £30 down from £150!! That was on online for baby.

I've also kept most things and only wanted to buy a next to me crib but BIL and his partner have said that they shouldn't need there's by time baby arrives so we can have that!

MIL was asking what to buy us but couldn't think of anything since we've kept almost everything (I got rid of a lot of clothes just because there were so many!).

Although @Algor1thm's suggestion of a UV steriler sounds like a great one! I dont ever remember seeing these with DS but hated the soggy breast pumps parts, too, so I'm definitely going to look into this one! Might even suggest it to MIL.

BobbySD345 · 01/01/2023 10:44

@Algor1thm @B1993 I was looking at a steam steriliser that also dries the bottles. We used a mixture of cold water baths and those microwave pouches with DS but I want something easier this time. I will have a look at UV! I also definitely want one of those Nuby on the go prep tank things for formula as I hated the bottle being too hot or too cold when out in public and baby screaming !

@Algor1thm @B1993 Just seen a Nuby UV one which does them in 3 mins ! Tomme tippee cheaper but takes 60 mins. Have you found any others?

B1993 · 01/01/2023 15:48

@BobbySD345, I saw this one too! I did wonder if that's 3 mins for just sterilising and not drying so I'm not sure if that'll make a difference. Then the tommee tippee one also has a storage mode too, which I reckon would be useful. I did see a portable one, which would be good if you're in the go a lot. I definitely need to look into the options a bit more before I buy one!

in other news, I've just had my delayed 16w appointment (I'm actually 18+1) and my trust still uses the Doppler so got to listen to baby's heartbeat and managed to get a recording, too. 😍 Hartbeat was 156! I'm booked in with the midwife at 25 weeks now since this is baby number 2, so I've got a bit of wait until the next appointment.

Hope everyone is having a good New Year's Day!

How are you feeling now? Has it stayed away? X

usedtolovenaps · 02/01/2023 09:32

@Kladebs thank you so much for asking, felt like it was coming back but went away again 😊x

Hlc86 · 02/01/2023 09:32

Happy new year everyone hope you all had great Christmas's too.

I've got my 16 week midwife app on weds then a gender scan booked for Thursday (so exciting) I was going to wait until baby was born to find out but have 0 patience and neeeddd to know lol. I've picked up quite alot on Facebook marketplace so far, my latest bargain was the mamaroo mums swing for £10, need to get bottles and bits still, I'm going to bottle feed as with my dd my milk never came in and the stress of midwives telling me what to do really got to me so I've made it clear from day one I'm bottle feeding

DrinkingAllTheGin · 02/01/2023 11:31

DH and I have spent the weekend starting to clear the dumping ground spare room, so it cam become the nursery. Glad we have started now as after 2 trips to the tip, there is still loads to do before we pick up the furniture we have been offered!

DrinkingAllTheGin · 02/01/2023 11:34

@B1993 I have also ordered that baby carrier. Thanks for the link.
