@MrsP4, ouch! 😣

At least you know they're on it and you'll be booked in soon!

Awww, that's too cute!! I love matching outfits 😍 I've not bought anything matching... I may have to start looking, aha! 🤣 But, I'm also a bit apprehensive about buying things until I know for certain at my 20w scan. I want to know so badly because sneak peek are apparently super accurate if you get a girl result but boys are hit-and-miss, so I've not fully committed myself to the results yet!

Not long to go now for a lot of us though - how exciting?! My scan is 2.5 weeks away and can't come soon enough!! I can't believe I'll be half way through this pregnancy in just a couple of weeks... 😮

firsttimelondonmummy · 29/12/2022 11:10

@BobbySD345 she basically cited natural immunity as I had it at the start of my pregnancy also.
Feeling so much better thank you.
You can’t help but google though and now I’m panicking about my earlier flu and neural tube defects.
Honestly think this will be our first and last baby.
The worry and stress of it all is too much and my body is really not handling pregnancy well.
Before falling pregnant the last time I was sick was December 2021 with a mild Covid.
I just seem to be constantly sick pregnant and it’s so hard to cope mentally with the worry of birth defects and the illness harming the baby.

@MrsP4 We got some bits in the Next sale too but we don't know the gender yet so I got matching "little sister" and "little brother" 🤣 We have the gender scan on Monday and figured I could take the other set back. They were too cute not to buy. Got the top and leggings sets with a cardi for each. Bargains!

BobbySD345 · 29/12/2022 11:45

@firsttimelondonmummy it gets better I promise. Once you are over the flu you can enjoy the second trimester 🥰

pippabg · 29/12/2022 13:38

I didn't get to hear the heartbeat after all. My midwife said its not recommended practice and not in the NICE guidelines, so those midwives/trusts who do it are doing it independently. Seems unfair and they don't seem to recognise that hearing it could bring quite a bit of peace of mind for some people! She said it's more important to monitor baby's movements rather than heartbeat, but I'm 16 weeks with my first and not feeling movements yet!

Kladebs · 29/12/2022 15:53

Hi, just joined so late to the party! Due 13th June 😊
This pregnancy has been a roller-coaster so far, bled from 9 weeks for 6 weeks.
I'm always anxious in pregnancy and now I've had a gap between scans, it's rearing it's head again.
Got a gender scan in a couple of days so hopefully that gives me the reassurance I need .
Had 16 week check yesterday, mw didn't check heartbeats. She said she doesn't usually anyway, but because I'm having twins it'll be even harder to find both.

DrinkingAllTheGin · 29/12/2022 16:17

Seems I was very lucky with my midwife. I didn't even need to ask, she did it as routine.
I need to call the path lab at my local hospital to get my GD test booked in. I'm a difficult bleeder so have to go to the hospital for it

ImHopeful2023 · 29/12/2022 19:24

That's great @DrinkingAllTheGindelighted all went well.in your scan

B1993 · 30/12/2022 08:33

It’s a shame you don’t always get to hear the heartbeat at 16w (or beyond for many, it seems). I really hope I will at my appointment on Sunday - I may ask as I’ll be 18 weeks by then so maybe they’ll have a go! 🤞🏻 @DrinkingAllTheGin, I remember hearing at 16w with my first and it’s so incredible so I’m pleased they did it for you 🥰

On another note, I’ve had such weird dreams yesterday! Not really had many strange dreams so far but I do remember getting them with DS, too. Anyone else?!

I’ve also got a few great bargains from Next @MrsP4 and @BobbySD345. I also recommend checking Online4Baby out! I got this for £30 in the sale from £145 and it’s still selling for £130 on Little Angels! They’ve got loads of other bargains for bigger items like car seats and prams etc., if you’re looking for those. Might be worth a look?

C1umsyGiraffe · 30/12/2022 08:45

@B1993 I've had really vivid dreams throughout this pregnancy! It's so weird!

BobbySD345 · 30/12/2022 09:00

@B1993 I remember having crazy dreams when pregnant with DS, night terrors even ! Not looking forward to that again ! I'll have a mooch on that website thank you 😊

Has anyone bought a pregnancy pillow that goes all the way around and rhey would would recommend ?

B1993 · 30/12/2022 09:12

I have one of the pregnancy to nursing pillows so it doesn’t go all the way around you and even that’s big! The pillow I have is good and, as I say, is more versatile as it can be used as a nursing and then sit sip pillow for baby.

Not sure how I’d get on with the full body ones, although I’ve never tried one. We have a kingsize bed but they look HUGE and seem to take up most of the bed so I’m not sure my DH would be happy about that either 🤣

B1993 · 30/12/2022 09:14

Oops, meant to tag you into that message @BobbySD345.

Glad to know I’m not the only one having bizarre dreams @C1umsyGiraffe!

Saraht1991 · 30/12/2022 13:04

Hi ladies! I’m after a quick bit of advice, and am hoping someone can guide me! I am currently 16 weeks pregnant and haven’t yet told my neighbour, as she had a miscarriage back in Mid November, and I didn’t want to tell them immediately when we hit 12 weeks. I am now very aware that we need to tell her and her husband about our pregnancy before she notices or it slips out from one of our other neighbours. Am I best to send her a message, or do you think face to face is best? I was thinking a message may allow to digest it in private, but also not sure if face to face would actually be better! I just want to do it in the most sensitive way! Any advice would be much appreciated! Sarah x

NalaNana · 30/12/2022 13:09

Hi @Saraht1991 it's lovely that you're thinking of your neighbour. After my loss I found it difficult to see pregnancy announcements, I was happy for the person, but sad for myself.

In my view, I'd send a message so that she can deal with her initial reaction privately. She probably won't want you to feel awkward around her, and if you were to tell her in person and she didn't react "properly" she might end up beating herself up x

firsttimelondonmummy · 30/12/2022 13:18

@BobbySD345 I’ve just treated myself to a bb hugme I’ll let you know what it’s like once it arrives.
I really struggle with finding comfortable pillows in general and so I’m super pillow fussy and so made sense for me to get something adjustable.
Hopefully it lives up to the hype.

@C1umsyGiraffe @B1993 I've had super vivid dreams too. Very strange ones and ones where I am having a miscarriage. Oddly I always seem to be able to control these ones and tell myself I'm dreaming and wake up.

Saraht1991 · 30/12/2022 13:50

Thanks @NalaNana. I’m going to go with the message as that’s what I was leaning towards anyway, so you have only further convinced me it’s the “best” way. Xx

LT103 · 30/12/2022 13:55

@BobbySD345 my secret Santa gift in work was a giant pregnancy pillow (I assume not a super expensive one) and I love it. So comfy and makes it easier to sleep on side and not roll onto back

C1umsyGiraffe · 30/12/2022 14:44

@DrinkingAllTheGin @B1993 it's so weird isn't it!

That sounds horrible though I'm so sorry :( cool that you can wake yourself out of them! I've only
had one where I've been able to do it, got stuck in a tube water slide and it was terrifying 😂

Ally1992 · 30/12/2022 16:36

Just had a private gender scan, we’re having a boy 💙 it seems to be evening out on here now 😅

BobbySD345 · 30/12/2022 17:55

@Ally1992 Congrats ! We have ours on Monday but I will only be 15 + 2 so if baby is in the wrong position I bet we wont get an answer !

B1993 · 30/12/2022 18:11

@Saraht1991, I agree - a message is always safest in those circumstances so the person doesn't feel like they have to act a certain way and can process it in their own time.

@DrinkingAllTheGin, that sounds awful! It's good you're aware enough to know it's a dream though. I dreamt I was having twins... 😳 That was scary enough 🤣

Huge congrats @Ally1992!! 💙 Did you suspect it was a boy? Yes, there definitely seems to be good split now.

Dotty23 · 30/12/2022 18:47

Congratulations. 💙

Ally1992 · 30/12/2022 18:59

@BobbySD345 he was upside down the whole time and was having none of it when we tried to move him 😅 fingers crossed yours won’t be camera shy

@B1993 I already had a strong suspicion and would have been surprised if they said girl!

thank you for the congratulations all 😊
