@Dewintergarden, I don’t have any pregnancy symptoms (I do have a lingering cough and fatigue from covid but that’s unrelated). I’m feeling baby move so that’s reassuring for me but, if I didn’t I would feel pregnant either. It’s very normal at this point in the second trimester so try not to worry. Sending big hugs 💜

firsttimelondonmummy · 28/12/2022 11:28

@Dewintergarden i’m in the throws of an awful flu at 15 weeks and was suffering from a fever at 38-39 degrees for over 24 hours and they still wouldn’t scan me.
I’ve paid for a private one Friday to put our minds at ease.

Thank you @Algor1thm and @B1993 the anxiety is awful. I am going to chance my luck and turn up and if they won't see me then I will go to A&E. I'm just so worried and I would rather not have another scan as my baby kept turning away and I've read that babies don't really like it and I've already had 3. I would have a scan everyday if I could just to check on her.

firsttimelondonmummy · 28/12/2022 11:31

Thanks @Zaalfruit!

@BobbySD345 after 18 hours ish it finally came down into the 37’s.
I’m so annoyed at my midwife who advised against vaccinating until Jan due to natural immunity as I didn’t realise two key strains that were knocking around this winter.

It is just so frustrating. I was talking to my mum who had me 30 years ago and they kept you in for a week and the consultant would come and see you after the birth. She also had two midwives and a doctor delivered me. I can't imagine this happening now. I hope your scan goes well on Friday and you feel better soon!

firsttimelondonmummy · 28/12/2022 11:40

@Dewintergarden I was really shocked especially considering the levels of stress I was showing and my high fever/ low blood pressure combination.
I was taken in by ambulance yet not given a scan 😭🤦🏻‍♀️ insane.
It’s literally like they don’t care until you are +16

@Dewintergarden ive had no symptoms since about 12 weeks but had 12 week scan and gender scan since then and baby def fine. But all pains/nausea away. Totally normal

Dewintergarden · 28/12/2022 13:31

That's awful, poor you I am so shocked that they wouldn't scan you. I hope you get peace of mind all is good on Friday.
I've decided not to go to the hospital as a nurse I spoke to said it's almost impossible to find a heartbeat before 16 weeks with a stethoscope, so I will wait until next week and try and keep calm until then.
Thank you @LT103 I think the massive turn of feeling so poorly to now feeling fine has just really worried me.

ImHopeful2023 · 28/12/2022 13:46

Hi all had a scan today and found out the placenta is to the front so might not feel any kicks until 22nd week. Does anyone know if this is normal or do I need to worry about this. Couldnt make out gender today have to wait for my scan end of January but so good to see baby heartbeat and hear it also

Fredthespider · 28/12/2022 13:55

@ImHopeful2023 it’s perfectly normal and nothing to be worried about. I had one with my first. I think I felt movements slightly later, and she got up in my ribs a lot more than my second which was a posterior placenta, but to be honest I’m not sure I’d have noticed any real difference. The sonographer at my 12 week thinks this one is anterior too ☺️

ImHopeful2023 · 28/12/2022 14:10

Thanks @Fredthespider I'm just worried everytime they say something but heard the heart beat and saw bubbles from drinking the fluid. Never made it this far before 17 weeks now and can't wait for next scan to see gender. Was just wondering does this affect the birth in any way?

Fredthespider · 28/12/2022 14:21

@ImHopeful2023 awww yes it’s always tough when it’s a very wanted baby and you think about everything. I think there’s a slight more chance of baby being ‘back-to-back’ during labour which can make things a little longer or more painful, but they do end up in the right position. Personally my experience is that it didn’t affect anything, I had a very straightforward vaginal delivery that lasted about as long as I would have expected a first birth to 😂

ImHopeful2023 · 28/12/2022 14:34

Thanks @Fredthespider im a bit green with these things and the pains I'm getting all se to be normal especially at this week I'm told just wasn't expecting them to be so sharp

Zaalfruit · 28/12/2022 18:43

@firsttimelondonmummy I can’t believe they didn’t scan baby, even for piece of mind.

MrsP4 · 28/12/2022 20:40

I'm 17 weeks today and still don't have a date for my 20 week scan anyone else the same?

NalaNana · 28/12/2022 21:03

@MrsP4 I was sent the appointment for my 20 week scan a few days after my 12 week scan x

B1993 · 28/12/2022 21:28

@MrsP4, like Nala, my 20 week appointment was booked by the sonographer at my 12 week scan. Could you check your notes from your last scan to see if it mentions it in there (mine did) as maybe the letter has got lost? If not, I'd call your community midwife team and raise it with them.

MrsP4 · 28/12/2022 21:54

I don't have any notes evuthing is online now and it's only my future MW apts that are on there no scans, I will ring tomorrow and try and ask x

BobbySD345 · 28/12/2022 22:36

@firsttimelondonmummy I hope you are feeling better now ❤ Did you manage to book a private scan to reassure? There are a couple of nasty strains this winter. I have had friends with flu that have been violently sick too and upset stomach. It can be nasty. There are posters all over our hospital about pregnant mothers having the jab so I am really surprised a midwife talked you out of it, shame on her !

DrinkingAllTheGin · 28/12/2022 23:39

I have my 16 week appointment tomorrow. Really hoping that I get to hear the heartbeat

ImHopeful2023 · 29/12/2022 03:14

Best of luck in your scan @DrinkingAllTheGin AllTheGin

MrsP4 · 29/12/2022 08:25

Had my whooping cough jab yesterday. MY GOD! The pain not if the jab itself but now my arm is so sore! I remember this now from last time think it lasted about a week! Anyone else had there's yet?

B1993 · 29/12/2022 08:40

@MrsP4, I have mine booked in a couple of weeks. I had it with my first and don't remember it being any more painful than a normal injection... I think I've got a shock coming to me 🤦🏻‍♀️😅 To be fair though, it cannot be any worse than the daily injections I have to have - they're SOO painful! 😭

MrsP4 · 29/12/2022 09:39

@B1993 Oh god it's just horrible I think they inject straight in to a muscle 🙈 just phoned my antenatal clinic at my hospital too and asked about my 20 week scan she said nothing has been booked yet but I am on the list so atleast I know, she said it will prob sly be booked for somewhere within my 20th week so that would be between 18th-25th Jan. just want to double check it's a girl because I've started sister shopping and bought loads of matching outfits in the next sale 🤣 I've accepted I'm having another little girl and I'm ok with it I feel like it was just an initial shock and realisation that I won't get a boy as this is the last and that's ok! I'm just meant to be a girl mum! 💗💗

DrinkingAllTheGin · 29/12/2022 10:35

All went well at my 16 week check up and baby played ball and I heard the heartbeat. I now need to book my GD test.
