So sorry to hear about those struggling with gender disappointment. If I’m honest I was a bit flat in my scan as I always pictured a little sister for my daughter (I have a sister and we are super close) but now I know I’m having a boy I’m slowly getting more and more excited!

MrsP4 · 26/12/2022 23:39

Thank you everyone for your lovely replies and for being so understanding! My Husband has been amazing he's just like it's ok! He really wanted and would've loved a boy but he absolutely adores our little girl so he knows he will get the same with no2. When I've been upset he's tried to talk to me and just listened to me blubbering. He's got a brother 15 months between them and they are so close always have been! Obviously the small age gap helps but he said he's happy DD1 will have that bond and relationship with her sister like he did/does with his brother.
I feel like done family members haven't helped as I know DH family wanted us to have a boy so kinda felt a bit of extra added pressure there. We've been to DH family tonight for a gathering and felt nervous about anyone bringing up the baby because I was scared how I'd react but I was actually ok, his auntie asked me about names and I just said haven't got that far yet, and I just said in all honesty we really hoped for a little boy but it's obviously not meant to be. Obviously baby will be loved and DD1 said from the start she wanted a sister so glad she's got her wish. No one really said anything back apart from just like oh yeah we understand etc but I think until you've been through it you never fully understand. I feel like a bit of a weight has been lifted by me saying that. I think it will just get easier over time (I hope anyway) xx

B1993 · 27/12/2022 08:21

@MrsP4, I'm glad you're feeling better and are warming to the idea of another girl!

@Brownsauce89 I wanted a girl but that's because I wanted to experience all of those things in a mother-daughter relationship as @Algor1thm said. I think it's hit me more so because this is our last baby, I think it's a shame that I'll never have a pregnant daughter and have that experience of being involved in that.

HOWEVER, being a boy mum is incredible! Everyone says it, but boys love their mommas so much and the bond I have with my DS is incredible. He's always telling me randomly that he loves me and loves cuddling and just being close to me. He has a different side with DH where he likes building/playing remote control toys etc. but they really are just the sweetest with their mommas 🥰

We had our gender scan on 22nd and we’re having a boy 💙. Feeling little flutters for lst 10 days or so but nothing consistent. Starting to get excited now. Tune to think of names

Congrats! We had our gender scan on the 23rd but opened on Christmas morning and we are having a baby boy too! 💙

I’m yet to feel the flutters but don’t really know what it would feel like or what to watch out for - first baby so a bit clueless! x

LT103 · 27/12/2022 09:40

@Dotty23 congrats on your boy!!!!!!
To be honest the first and second time I FET the flutters, I thought it was maybe just gas but it’s happening too often now. It just feels like someone is tapping me very gently from inside. It is a really strange feeling but makes me so emotional to think that I’m feeling him move around in there 🥹. Can’t wait for proper kicks! They haven’t really got any stronger so far. And only seem to happen when I stop and sit down

I’m going to watch out for it a bit more now, I’d just put it down to gas too as I’ve really struggled with that since around week 7.

I really can’t wait for little kicks too and to be able to share that with my husband. He’s so pleased we are having a boy as I was convinced it was a girl. 🥰🥰

Katie2021 · 27/12/2022 10:15

Hi, I’m 17 weeks tomorrow and the past 2 days I’ve been feeling like an on and off light vibrating feeling (kind of like a phone vibrating but much lighter haha) in my lower stomach! Is that how it feels when baby is moving around in there? This is my first baby so Im unsure what the feeling is xxx

I had a scan last week and the lady at the scan said my placenta is at the back so I will feel movement much earlier as baby is at the front, she said in the next week I will really start to feel more so wondering if that is what this feeling is? xxxx

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 27/12/2022 10:40

@gemslove I still had nausea in the second trimester. I'm now 16+2 and it's all gone thankfully. I think it finally left around 15 weeks. It's horrible as I only felt not sick if I had something in my stomach so if I didn't eat as soon as I was hungry I'd start feeling sick. Hope you start feeling better soon x

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 27/12/2022 10:42

Congrats to all those who found out xx Lots of girls and boys in this thread now! We find out on 31st if this bean doesn't have his legs crossed 😁Going with window to the womb.

firsttimelondonmummy · 27/12/2022 13:55

Guys has anyone had the flu twice?
I’m worried sick.
Had a confirmed flu at 3 weeks and now at 15.
Fever spiked at 39 last night and I’m really worried for babies well-being.

Lots of people finding out the sex. Anyone else not finding out? It's our first so looking forward to the surprise.

I'm 16+2 and still getting nausea some mornings. Hoping that it passes soon.

I went shopping today for maternity clothes. The highstreet is terrible. Anyone got any recommendations?

B1993 · 27/12/2022 19:49

It's exciting that more of us are feeling movements now! 🥰 For the past week or so, I've been able to feel movements on the outside. DH has managed to catch a movement too, which is lovely! 😍

Huge congratulations to those of you who have recently found out the gender! @DrinkingAllTheGin, I considered this with my last pregnancy but, after it ended in loss, I found it really difficult not having any answers. One of things I wish I had known was if they were a boy or girl so found out at the earliest opportunity with this baby. My friend had surprises with her two and loved the experience. I'm sure it will be magical for you! 🥰

Re mat clothes, I've not purchased anything new as I save everything from DS, but George at Asda, H&M and Newlook we're good for the basics back then. I only ever ordered online so maybe they have more there than in store. JoJo Maman Bébé great and so comfortable(!) and Seraphine is great for occasion wear.

NalaNana · 27/12/2022 19:53

I'm 18 weeks with my first (well second pregnancy but first only made it to 7.5 weeks) and still haven't felt any movements 🤷🏻‍♀️ had a gender scan on the 22 Dec and found out we're having a girl - I asked about placenta placement but it's at the back so shouldn't be stopping me from feeling anything.

Baby is very active apparently so hoping I'll feel something soon although I feel like it'll just give me something new to worry about 😂

LT103 · 27/12/2022 22:14

@DrinkingAllTheGin so far I’ve just bought some maternity leggings and jeans from loveleggings. Both super comfy. My bump isn’t massive tho noticeable now but I’ve been so bloated I’ve been wearing them from about 12 weeks!
I have a wedding coming up in March so have no idea what I’ll be able to get for that!!

BobbySD345 · 27/12/2022 22:28

@firsttimelondonmummy Sorry to hear you are poorly again. I have come down with a cold and shivers but at the moment no temp. Had the flu jab though🤞🏻 I think it's only if the temp stays dangerously high that baby is at risk. Does it come down with paracetamol? Ring 111 if you are worried x

BobbySD345 · 27/12/2022 22:30

@DrinkingAllTheGin I think George at Asda has quite a lot and New Look. Vinted is also a good shout if you have that app x

BobbySD345 · 27/12/2022 22:38

@Katie2021 Yes ! Like a little butterfly or a bug in there 😀

firsttimelondonmummy · 27/12/2022 23:36

@BobbySD345 I’ve been consistently 38 degrees for 24 hours.
Was hospitalised this morning, given fluids and told to ride it out 😭
Can’t seem to drag my temp back down to 37 😩

@firsttimelondonmummy Being unwell
and pregnant is awful ! I really hope you start to feel better asap. It’s so unfair there aren’t any medicines approved for pregnant women !

I hope anyone else feeing unwell starts to
feel better asap !

Anyone else feel that their boobs have grown bigger . Mine are so dry and itchy now . Also the bloat is unbelievable this time round. I just feel gassy and I don’t know how to get rid of it , if anyone has any tips please help !

B1993 · 28/12/2022 08:11

@LT103, definitely have a look at Seraphine for a dress for the wedding you have to go to! They have some gorgeous bits and I’m sure they have a sale at the minute, too 😊

@firsttimelondonmummy, this must be so worrying for you! No advice but hoping you feel better soon 💜

MrsP4 · 28/12/2022 09:01

@Zaalfruit I haven't been too bad this pregnancy but last time I was really gassy and bloated and suffered with trapped wind Rennie do these things called Deflatine like normal Dennis's but especially for bloated and trapped wind they really help x

MrsP4 · 28/12/2022 09:01

Rennie's **

Zaalfruit · 28/12/2022 09:26

@MrsP4 thank you - I look more pregnant this time round than I did at 8 months last time due to bloat 😂😂😂😂

Dewintergarden · 28/12/2022 10:28

I hope everyone had a nice Christmas. I'm 15w4d and I have no symptoms at all now after really suffering, I called my midwife team (now I have been re-referred) and they have point blank refused to see me because 'I'm not 16 weeks yet'. Has anyone else experienced no symptoms after having them before this and they are not in the stage of feeling movement. I only wanted a nurse to listen to the baby with a stethoscope.

I'm currently having no symptoms at all at 18 weeks despite crippling hyperemesis in my first trimester. It's really normal not to have any symptoms in your second trimester, try not to worry too much!
